  1. He's not abusive but he's argued with me over this and has become angry, saying that's how insurance companies work, they want you to back down. I can argue until I'm blue in the face, it won't matter, I texted him the claim & phone number, he won't deal with it. it was not 50/50, where she hit me it was obvious that I was farther out & she didn't see me, he doesn't want to give in at 50/50 because it's not correct.
  2. We most likely weren't going to file, we hadn't really "planned" to do anything. Dh thinks the insurance company is just making excuses, they said they've tried to get ahold of their client, and used a translator, but haven't gotten a response. I have only spoken with their insurance company(other than telling mine about the accident so they would know). I've tried to tell DH to just let it go, but he won't, so I need any advice on dealing with the insurance company, he's expecting them to pay the $500 and won't budge, it does not matter what I say, we've argued over this several times, he works in the county Courthouse and has gotten advice from a traffic cop, and others and it doesn't matter what I say to him, he won't just let it go and yet I'm the one who has to make the calls, any advice dealing with him won't help me.
  3. The end of July I was in a parking lot accident, backing out, I was out farther than she was, I have a wrinkle above my gas cap, she had a paint scratch on her bumper. I called our insurance right away & we were not going to file. About 2 weeks later, we got a call from her insurance company & they wanted an estimate. It was $500 damage, dh wants them to pay the full amount. The other person has not submitted what they need to, I've talked to the insurance company almost every two weeks "touching base" still nothing, they'll gladly rule it 50/50 & pay the 50%. Dh is NOT happy & wants them to pay 100%. It's an 05 van, so nothing new. He's making me do all of the calling because it was my accident. I just want it to be over with any advice??? I can not give in. I should add, unfortunately it was an Asian chick that barely spoke English. 😜
  4. No, but basically it's a 50/50 chance that your info was included, that's too high for me to risk, freezing it will eliminate anyone taking out a loan or credit in our name. We won't be buying anything, anytime soon, so it is worth it for us, plus we live in a state that it's free to do so.
  5. I did for dh & I, I'm having dd 19 and most likely the 16 & ~18 year old. They all have quite a bit of money saved up and do not need their credit ruined. It's free in our state to.
  6. Corelle here & yes, the spots are from the dishwasher, we finally got a new dishwasher.
  7. Wehad a regular card & they changed it over to a Miles card.
  8. I changed our Discover Card from cashback to a miles card without any problems. They do offer miles
  9. I don't really know what to call them, I'm eating the calories I need, yet all day long right after my period & a week before I start, I feel like I'm starving. My stomach has serious hunger pains even after a full meal. That's the only thing I can contribute it to. 😜
  10. I just want to make sure it's a safe way to go. After looking, it's an UTMA account I need to open for ds. Our other two have theirs through American Funds, which I'd have to go to someone local for.
  11. I eat well, not a lot of processed foods & I try & avoid wheat, I also walk daily, but for the last few years I've had terrible hormonal cravings. I'll be 43 this month. Any help would be appreciated.
  12. He's talking Military, so the money will most likely not be used for college.
  13. My fil started mutual funds for our first two children, investing $1000 when they were born. It is grown to over $6,000 over the last 19 & 18 years. He did not invest anything for her third son, I think it was just overlooked, so he recently asked and now he is sending it back that is equal to about let my other two have. Do we just put it in a bank cd? Or look into mutual funds? & if so, where should I start? I looked on the website American funds, and they gave me local brokers, go that route? The other two funds cannot be touched until the children are 21, my youngest is currently 16. None of them really need the money, as they all worked hard and saved quite a bit, but it should make for a nice down payment some day.
  14. Mine pay their portion, dd's is $55/mo, almost 20 Ds's, almost 18 is $110/mo, his should drop a little in November. Both have 2001 cars. They also both pay for all of their maintenance. Ds got his car for free & spen just over $1250 getting it running, doing all of the work himself. Dd spent $1850 on her car & has to do a few minor repairs, she's had it almost 3 years.
  15. About the same here, Dd is 19 (20 in Feb) going to school at cc full time & working part time. Pays for car insurance & part of her phone, also any other personal expenses.
  16. My son likes watching videos on Kahnacademy and it would be nice if there were quizzes, books or worksheets that work along side of it, does anyone know of such things? more specifically for biology, chemistry or advanced math, but anything else as well.
  17. I do know around here a young man that enlisted and he worked out before he enlisted at the armory and he was already fit. Thanks for the feedback, I think for now, we may just wait. My son is fairly thin and not overweight at all, so I'm not concerned about that part.
  18. Unfortunately this is the back story. 😓 Lots of prayers for the family for sure: For those of you asking how this accident happened... My hubby and his dad work on a family farm so they take the kids to work with them during the day (except on the days our daughter has Kindergarten). During nap time, my hubby and his dad were cleaning a vehicle out right next to our vehicle that the kids were in, so since they could see the kids in the car right there and it was super hot outside, they left the kids in the car with the air running and windows up. Our son must have decided to put the window down to look for daddy or tell them something and then somehow rolled it up on himself (the window button on the explorer is a toggle switch so left and right makes it go up and down) which is unlike our other car window in which you actually have to pull up on the lever to move the window. So we are assuming he stuck his head out to look for daddy or tell daddy something and maybe his knee or foot hit the button on the door and he freaked out and couldn't reach it or figure out how to unroll it. Therefore when my husband looked over to check on the kids as he had continually done, they were fine until the last time when my husband turned and saw our son with his head stuck in the almost completely rolled-up window. Even with them right there, accidents happen quickly...
  19. I live in the same town & so have been seeing everything. He passed away. The story is SO sad. https://www.facebook.com/love4loganv/posts/299946927137924

  21. We'll be done homeschooling, but 1/2 hour from totality as well & drive the distance.
  22. I personally don't think it would be good for your camera.
  23. Look likes lots of cloud cover in a lot of places so far. Hope it clears out.
  24. I have a son that just turned 16 and is interested in the military. We really can stop by anytime, because the recruiting office is close but I'm just wondering what people recommend?
