  1. This is not so funny because I just posted about having coons and now we have a mole tearing up our yard also. What are your thoughts on using Antifreeze? I was looking up coons & Antifreeze and one posting on another area that I found the people were all negative to the poster. I don't see what difference it would be than using rat poisoning to kill mice & rats, ant poisoning to kill ants. I'm not sure what we're going to do yet, just curious on thoughts. ~Phlox
  2. Yep, just call them and give them the ISBN and when you pick it up, use your teacher's discount card. Are you a mypoints member? I am a member and earn points by clicking e-mails and always cash in the points for B&N gift cards. PM if you aren't and I'll refer you!
  3. Thanks, we don't really care for dogs and we wouldn't get one. I spoke a little bit with the neighbors and they about make me sick in their response. Our neighbor told us he had a live trap and he catches them and takes them to another wooded area (thus giving the problem to someone else! :glare: For one, I read that if you trap them, you should call animal control and not release them elsewhere. I read that animal control will kill them. I was talking with another neighbor behind me and he said he saw five one evening in his tree and said oh they are so cute, why would you want to get rid of them? I'll come clean up your trash if they get into it. What??? I've never dealt with people that like coons and get made if you talk about killing them. They are a nuisance and they carry rabies.....I could go on and on, but these neighbors just make me want to scream. I told dh he better not let anyone see him shoot them if he decides to go that route. I'll have to look for the urine. Thanks, ~Phlox
  4. They are becoming a nuisance getting into our garbage and I can't even compost without them digging through the stuff.... any advice?? Thanks! ~Phlox
  5. Anyone have opinions on this? What's the benefit of using MFW Rome to Reformation vs. just using SOTW 2. I have MFW RTR, but I also have Bible Study Guide for all ages and I really like it, so I'm just trying to figure out what to do. We did SOTW 1 this year and really enjoyed it, but MFW looks good too. Anyone decided one over the other, my kids are 10 year dd, ~9 & 7 year ds's. Thanks ~Phlox
  6. I really don't have any advice, we are not big swimmers, we moved last summer and now have not one, but two neighbors who told us we could use their pool anytime. We used Mrs. F's a few times (maybe 5, & we moved in at the end of June, but I knew this family before that) last summer, but now that Mrs. S. also told us we could come over, we'll probably swim a little more this summer since we have two people that have offered. I was feeling guilty, but another friend said they used to have a pool and it's actually better if it gets used more, stirs up the water and helps with the cleaning, so I'm trying to look at it that way. If I had a friend that had a pool, I would not feel bad about calling and asking to swim. I know if we had a pool, I would want people to come and visit and use it. I'd probably try and find a cheap pool at Walmart. Good luck.
  7. The price of corn is not great for the farmers, they are taking a hit too with fuel prices. My dad farms and the operating expenses are killing him. Diesel is expensive.
  8. When I met my husband, I knew after a short time that he was the person I was going to marry, so I guess, yes, I do.
  9. I'm not sure about cost, but comfort, I'd go for the a/c unit. You are going to be more comfortable because it will take the humidity out of the air and the fans won't.
  10. I thought this last summer, but for some reason, I think the p.o. contacts people for you because we still receive a lot of the catalogs that I did not contact the company about an address change. I was hoping we would get less mail, but I don't think that we do.
  11. I just am constantly noticing how big guts are on all ages of kids these days. What is causing this? Anyone else notice it or have a child that struggles with it?
  12. Thanks, I do starts Saxon in fourth grade, and would not use Spectrum or any other workbooks for a 4th grader. My this fall 3rd grade son, is pretty proficient in math, so I feel comfortable starting him there in fourth grade and continue with just a workbook for now. Thanks! I will look at the other suggestions.
  13. With the crazy gas prices, I wouldn't drive more than 20 miles, thankfully for us, ours is only 4 miles. PP
  14. I went to a Mom's Night Out and one mom really liked them, I need something cheaper for the fall. I was looking at Phonics & Math 2 for my 2nd grader Spelling & Language Arts 3 for a 3rd grader, Math 3 also. and Language Arts 5th & either Vocab or Spelling 5 (which would be better, for a girl who is a pretty natural speller, or do I get both. Since they are pretty inexpensive, I wouldn't feel bad if we didn't use them. I start Saxon 5/4 in 4th grade and used Math Mammoth with my boys this year, but the cost of ink and the programs, doesn't really make it cost effective. Any suggestions? Thanks, ~Phlox
  15. I just joined and don't think I have any. It seems that the rep is just a popularity contest. Isn't that what the green squares are? There sure are a lot of people with about the same amount of posts, but varying green squares. It's sad to see people leave over it too, which I've noticed when I first was just lurking. ~Phlox
  16. Me too! and House, How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Survivor, Idol. ~Phlox
  17. I love their catalog! I went through it and had my kids pick books out of it that they wanted to read for the summer reading program! At least I know that they are getting good books throughout the summer to read. ~Phlox
  18. Oh how I wish I knew, it is in our yard everywhere. I think we're going to have to give in to the Round Up. I used to try and pull it, but it really doesn't do any good, I also tried a torch in the garden area, but we just have so much of it. ~Phlox
  19. We started watching So You Think You Can Dance! It's not on Tuesday's, but it is on tomorrow night and Thursday night. The first episode was last week. Prairie~Phlox
