  1. I agree, my friend just went to the ER over the weekend because she has it and she quit taking her medication a while ago. She's now back on things, gradually and gradually gaining her strength back.
  2. You need the college code that you are considering going to. You can likely look it up on the FASFA website, but if not, it should be on the college website. Starting on....we started and saved, ds was doing other stuff and we need to put his banking amounts on it yet, plus meeting with a financial advisor on Friday, so things may be moving around slightly for him. So yes, it's not finished in one sitting, dd got hers done. At least you can go back and change things if you have to, but I'd rather them be correct when we submit them.
  3. I binge watched season 1 a few weeks ago and now am caught up and started season 2. Wow! Very good, my neighbor says she cries every time, I am not super sensitive and do cry at things and have found this sad, but haven't really shed any tears over it. It's so realistic though and I know these things happen in life.
  4. This is Us & Poldark is what I've been binge watching.
  5. We've used textfree over the years.
  6. What is she wanting to go into? Wgu.edu has a popup that makes the application free. It's an online University specializing in a few areas and is set up differently than your traditional college and is a lot less.
  7. I have not read everything, but we fall into the category that we are not helping at all. We really don't financially have the money to do so, but because we make so little, it does help them when it comes to financial aid. I paid my way through school and have a BA. DH's parents had money and Dh wasted it, eventually flunking out because he wasn't burned out (long story) and never went back and he's so smart that it's sad to see that he could have done a lot better for himself. Our dd started at CC at 16 and will have her Associates at 19 in December. She plans to do online schooling, which is a LOT cheaper than B&M Univeristy and she lives at home. DS almost 18, plans to get his Comptia A+ certifications and also start online schooling towards a bachelors. There are lots of other options besides going to a University and having to pay a much larger amount. Just by DS doing the Comptia certs he saves from having to take 2 classes and won't need to take any dual credit, which also saves. My dc have worked since they were very young and have saved, saved, saved. They also have UTMA accounts that FIL started and will have a large sum of money at 21. Not enough to pay for their entire schooling, but to help a little bit. DH and I don't believe college is for everyone and we've not "pushed" it, I've helped guide them along the way though according to what they want to do. DS 16 is talking military and shouldn't have a problem getting in, so we're preparing for that. College is just too expensive these days to waste thousands of dollars. My friend already took out loans to help her daughter last year and her daughter just told her on Saturday that she doesn't want to continue. I do think when they are more financially responsible for college, some take it more seriously.
  8. You shouldn't feel bad. I don't & am basically in the same situation. My youngest at 16 has been working since about 10 & has a lot of money saved. My older 2 the same. Dd has not had to take out loans fir school I feel a good work ethic is important & starting them early with that helps. Their employers want more workers like them & have even asked me. They all have future plans & goals. I also do not believe that a four year university is always the best route for every student. And there are cheaper routes for a four year degree than going to a University. Lots of online options these days.
  9. Work permits are common here & not really a big deal.
  10. We will not contribute at all. They do have a place to live until they are out on their own full time.
  11. I grew up on a farm, was on 4-H & worked as a teen. My children also work as teens & are in very few activities. For the most part I don't think sports or music lessons pay the bills for most people later or necessarily make for better adults. Jmo though
  12. I'll be honest, I was a 10 year 4-H member and LOVED it, but I had animals and made bigger connections because of it. As a parent, I thought, "oh my kids need to join 4-H." We all hate it. My dd finished, ds will be a 10 year member this coming year and younger ds is a 9 year member. Dh is the only reason we stay in, he says "oh it will look good on things, 10 year member....blah, blah, blan. We are total underachievers and do minimal work, I don't even care this next year if they attend the required 3 meetings to get champion. I'm just over it.
  13. We know a family that had nothing, they barely could afford to live in a rental & the dad had cancer & was sick for several years before dying. The daughters didn't have money, they were trying to get through school to better themselves. Someone set up a gofundme when he passed, they actually got enough to cover the expenses & their dad was cremated, so not extravagant. Their mother is in poor health as well & I'm guessing won't have the money to bury her either. Life just stinks for some people. I've known too many that can't afford it.
  14. This, just be patient & don't seem so deperate.
  15. Are you using name brand lids? I would think if you are holding pressure with your canner, it shouldn't matter. Maybe try wiping the jars with vinegar before you put the lids & rings on.
  16. We have a Purple mattress that we've had for 6 months & I've only started having problems as I've worked more & my shoes need to be replaced. Our old mattress was the same way & I was pain free up until a few weeks ago, so I'm pretty sure it's my shoes. I'll be achy at night as well after working, I just notice it more in the morning. No I don't have inserts, great idea though.
  17. Can anyone recommend a good shoe that will last more than a few months that I can wear all the time & help with concrete walking/working? I work about 20 hours a week & am on concrete the whole time & my hips & back are very sore in the mornings. We have a new mattress & I did fine until a few months ago, so it's not that. I used to buy Nike, but they wore out so quickly, then I tried Dr. Scholl's & thought they were fine at first, but after them not lasting & causing me to feel worse, now I don't think so. I walk for exercise a lit as well. Advice....thanks
  18. We got a new Kitchenaid last year & I love it.
  19. Yes, her insurance company contacted my dh originally & he had me call them back since I had the accident, they had me get an estimate. I'll callmy agent in Monday &get her advice & hopefully dh will go with her word, which I'm guessing will be 50/50.
  20. Ok, I just mentioned to him about talking to our insurance agent. He said," I thought you had been". Ummm only initially, hello! I will make the call Monday. Thanks for letting me vent. Maybe she can talk some sense into him. 😜
  21. So will my insurance agent go to bat for me without me filing a claim on my end? I've never had to deal with this crap before.
  22. I only said that because she did not really speak english & have a clue on what to do. It would have been much easier to talk to someone that communicated well at the time of the accident.
