  1. I'd call a pharmacist and ask them, just to be on the safe side.
  2. My 7 year old struggling reader is taking the Brigance test this Thursday. It's being given by a certified teacher in her home. She said it's a very relaxed, non-stressful atmosphere. Child can wear whatever, bring whatever, I'll be in the room, etc. BUT...she is a VERY VERY struggling reader....like, she still sound out CVC words. I guess I'm a little concerned about the reading on the test. Has anyone's 7 year old taken this test? Is there a lot of reading? What if she can't even read on a kindergarten level?
  3. I've got my nice little bins for crayons, letter tiles, math manipulatives, beads, glue, pencils, etc. I've got them all nice and labeled. :D But then...I have all of those random craft type things. You know, there's not enough of them to devote their own bin to....but I have to do something with them. Feathers, styrofoam balls, pieces of felt, pipe cleaners, wooden sticks, etc. I'm wondering if I should even bother organizing them? Maybe just lump them all together? But then the "clutter hater" side of me may freak out. :001_huh:
  4. Could someone PM me too? I've noticed "our friend" threads every so often and I've always wondered what/who they were about. Obviously, it's someone who doesn't want to be able to be searched out through google....but other than that, I'm clueless.
  5. Sounds good! But I did want to tell you about the Y....I worked as an after school counselor for about 6 years, from when I was 16 till 22. I worked at quite a few different schools during that time. You are right about the distracted teens, for the most part. I saw LOTS of horseplay from teens, trying to be the kids friends instead of their authority, kids not listening to the teens for discipline, etc. There's usually one adult per school, with quite a few teen helpers. I always said that after working in the after school program, I'd never put my own child there. Yours may be run differently and you may feel more comfortable with it, but I just wanted to tell you my experience with working there.
  6. We used to have a dedicated school room. We never used it. It was basically just the "homeschool storage room." We kept all supplies there....but then it was a pain because every time we needed something we'd have to go to the room, get it, and come back to use it. So eventually I just did away with the room. Now it will be the new baby's nursery/guest room. We mainly school at the kitchen table and sunroom. I have a supply cabinet right off of the kitchen where everything is accessible.
  7. How recent were the reviews? If within the last few months, then definitely not.
  8. This is why my DD whispers....she is SO shy. I do try to tell her that if she wants to whisper something to me then she doesn't' need to be looking at other people or pointing.
  9. Yes, you do have to wear the glasses the entire time or the screen is blurry. Occasionally something flies off the screen....but mostly the effect is the depth. The backgrounds look really neat. We usually do not pay to see 3D, but we did once and it was pretty neat.
  10. It takes about 10 - 12 minutes to get to church, and about 10 - 15 minutes to get to homeschool group. They are in opposite directions. Pre-kids, we drove 45 minutes one way to church. Now, I just don't think I could do it. We are late to our current church....I couldn't image how late we'd be to a church that's 45 minutes away.
  11. The entire movie is shown in 3D. Of course, in some scenes it will be more noticeable than others. I don't care for 3D cartoons, but for real films, the 3D is pretty neat. It doesn't mess with your eyes the way it would if things were constantly sticking out of the screen at you. So it's not like that. For most of the film, it just adds depth where it looks like you there in the movie. Occasionally, it will look like things fly out of the screen.
  12. Awww! Reminds me of Toy Story 3 when Andy give all his toys to the neighbor girl. :crying:
  13. :iagree: I think this would really teach a lesson. Everyone else get to continue on with enjoying the trip.
  14. I'd just hit the grocery store myself and tell SM "DD has so many food allergies that I know it's hard to cook for her....I figure it would be easier to do it myself. Does anyone else want some of what we are having?"
  15. If you just keep saying the name over and over, for the entire 9 months (or however long you have left), then DH tends to get used to it. :D At least, mine did LOL.
  16. I'm in the same position. Our youngest is 4 and I've given away/sold all of our baby stuff. I'm due in October with #3. I've been scouring Craigslist, garage sales, and consignment shops. I have found some GREAT deals. I mean, a baby swing sales for $70 or $80 in the store. I picked one up at a consignment shop for $20. A floor gym sells for around the same price in the store. At a garage sale, I found one for $10. Just ran it through the washer and wiped the hard pieces down. If you started looking now, you'd be all set for when baby arrives. As for clothes, I have some clothes left from my other children, but they are mainly 2T and up. All the baby clothes had stains, etc, so they got thrown out. So that's what I'm having to purchase the most of. I had to buy new maternity clothing....but I would have had to anyways since I'm a different size. Burlington Coat Factory has a decent maternity section with good prices. You could mention the maternity clothes to the person in a "just wondering" kind of way.
  17. I can't see the liftoff happening today....it's nothing but cloudy down here in Florida.
  18. I think that it's her house and she's not in an HOA, so she should be able to do it. It doesn't look atrocious. There's probably much worse than that....think of people who don't cut their yards at all.
  19. That is hilarious! LOL! Yes, dingaling meant something quite different when I was a kid!
  20. Hair tie....that covers all forms of "things that pull your hair back" around here. :001_smile:
  21. My two girls and my 15 year old nephew had a great time playing Wii Party this weekend.
  22. I'm not sure about a bunny thing either. Now I feel out of the loop LOL.
  23. Ours is kept in our uninsulated garage. We're in FL....and it gets really hot in there in the summer.
  24. Wow....I'm speechless! God was definitely watching over your son and everyone in that van!
