  1. Well, I just mopped both bathrooms as well as vacuumed the whole house. I even managed to tidy up the guest room....there was some stray odds and ends sitting about. We're having a guest this weekend so the room has to be clean! I'm off to dust off the small chest of drawers in the guest room and then it is shower time for me! After that, a bit of schooling, lunch, might wrap a few gifts, and then off to speech therapy at 1 PM.
  2. I'm right there with ya! I just cleaned both bathrooms this morning. I'm about to finish it up....just gotta mop which wont take long. Then I have to vacuum the whole house. After that we have to start school.
  3. LOL!!! That is so funny! The dude is probably got home and told his mom sorry, but he couldn't hear her on the phone.
  4. Thanks for all of the replies! DD5 is very very creative. She can spend hours coloring, pasting, taping, drawing, designing, and making. She's very very creative. Maybe some Legos can foster this creating with a different medium. I wouldn't expect her to follow any of the Lego directions at this age. I remember having Legos and tossing the instructions and just building LOL.
  5. Actually, we had the Mega Blocks....not the Duplos. Just the big rectangles that you cannot do very much with. I don't mind the little pieces. We have Playmobil and they do fine with those. And yes, I think I would enjoy them too LOL! I'd much rather build a Lego city than make Little People walk and talk LOL. I think I'll definitely keep Legos in mind for birthdays then. And we could take a pit stop at the Lego Store in Orlando next time we are down there.
  6. I see many posts about how boys absolutely love Legos. Do any of your girls play with them as much as boys do? Maybe I'm missing out on something that we do not have for my two DD's LOL! I've already finished up Christmas for them....but their birthdays are in March and April and I will file Legos away in my mind if girls play with them too. Note that we used to have Mega blocks and just recently sold them because they did not get played with. Do you think that since they did not like Duplos then they would not like Legos either?
  7. My two year old is right there with yours. They must have attended the same school of trouble LOL. Today she finished eating her lunch and climbed down from her chair. She made her way into the school room. I said "Did you go wash your hands?" She smiled and said "yes." I hadn't been paying close attention to when she got down, so I said "Are you sure? I didn't hear you walk to the bathroom. Did you wash them?" Again, she smiled and said "yes." I called her over to me and smelled her hands. They still smelled like ham! There's no way she washed those hands. :glare: I'm kind of unsure how to address it....I don't think she understands the concept of lying.
  8. The cute guy is Taylor Hicks! :D He won American Idol a few seasons ago. He hasn't really made a big name for himself since then, but we saw him at a free concert in town a few weeks ago. The only annoying thing about Sony is that they have their own memory stick. :glare: It's called a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo. It's not that costly though....there's a 4 GB one on Amazon right now for $16. You might can find them even cheaper on eBay or something. You can find them just about anywhere though. The battery is a rechargeable lithium-ion one that comes with the camera. It comes with a charger as well. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantage is that you do not have to purchase more batteries or worry about running out of them. Disadvantage is that if your battery dies in the middle of something, you cannot just grab some more and replace them. I have four cameras and all of them have the rechargeable batteries though. DD has a small Kodak camera and it takes AA batteries, but it eats them like candy. :001_huh: Edited to add......I have also read good things about this camera: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QFZMBU/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001QFZMC4&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0AGCYGHY3QH2CBT0Z2XB But I have no personal experience with it.
  9. I love it!!!! I have both Wii Fit and Active. Personally, Wii Fit does not give me a good workout....it never got my heart pumping. Wii Active is awesome. And I LOVE customizing my own workouts. I use the ones that get my heart pumping the most. I highly recommend it......waaaaay better workout than Wii Fit.
  10. A simple "no" is not enough to convey how much I DESPISE rap "music." I cannot stand the music, the words, the sound, much less most of the disgusting lyrics they use in rap music. But even if it was clean rap music, I'd still despise it LOL. It grates on every nerve that I have.
  11. We may skip lessons. For Kindergarten, the lessons are often short, so we may do two or three lessons in one day. We may skip a part of a lesson and go on to the next one. We may not finish the book....but then again, we may finish the book. We're pretty flexible LOL.
  12. Okay.....we're not going to church tonight. It's storming and there's tornado watch's out there. I'm too freaked to get out in that. So I can upload the pics now LOL. It takes great fireworks pics..... This was taken at night, outdoors at a concert a few weeks ago. I was standing about 10 or 12 feet away. So it had to zoom and then photograph in fairly low light. Soccer game.....this was taken from across the field. And the kids were moving, of course. Taken from clear across the field....she was on one side and I was on the other. Low light and zoomed a pretty good distance.....we were sitting in the audience at night watching this. This was taken at the air show....so the plane was moving pretty quickly.
  13. LOL, you crack me up. :D SLR's are the larger cameras with interchangeable lenses (SLR means single lens reflex). Like this one, which is my main camera: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-40D-10-1MP-Digital-Body/dp/B000V5P90K The Sony H50 (my smaller camera) is not being made anymore, so that's why the Amazon dude hiked up the price to $600. The newer model of that camera is the H20 B....which is the one you would want to purchase. It compares with my H50, which is the previous model of this camera. It's the one that's $229 on Amazon, right here: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-H20-Digital-Stabilization/dp/B001OI2LV8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1259793006&sr=1-1 An SLR will always provide a crisper picture, faster shutter, and do better in low light than a point and shoot camera. The Sony H20 is somewhere between a point and shoot and an SLR. You cannot change the lenses on it and the shutter is still slow in comparison. You can get a decent SLR for about $500. The Canon XS is an SLR and you can purchase it on Amazon for about $500 and that's including a lens. But your son may not be ready for something like that yet. It has a lot of potential, especailly if he decided to learn a little about photography. If he just wants something that does all of the above things that you mentioned, yet he can still just turn on and shoot without doing too much thinking and fiddling with settings, the H20 would probably be a good bet for him. I will post some pics as soon as I can grab a few off of my computer. I have some from my daughters soccer game, as well as the air show a few weeks ago. I may have to wait till I get home from church though.
  14. Burst mode is what you are looking for when you want to take photos in quick succession. Ideally, you are looking for an SLR to do all of those things. The shutter speed you are looking for will only be available on an SLR. However, aside from my SLR, I also have this camera: Sony DSC H50. I purchased it last year, so I think there's a newer model out. I just looked it up and it is the H20 B. It is on Amazon for $229 right now. I can post some pics I took on my H50, if you would like. ETA....I have researched cameras a TON LOL. I'm extremely picky with my cameras. I want even my smaller camera (my more portable one) to be SLR quality, which just isnt possible with a point and shoot camera. So I've purchased and returned my share of cameras. This Sony is the only one I've kept and been pretty happy with. I say "pretty happy" because even that cannot compare with my SLR. But I'm picky like that LOL.....the average non-photographer person might not be as picky. DH thinks I'm crazy and says they all look the same to him LOL.
  15. My fave is www.sweetshoppedesigns.com so I'll probably ask for one from there. I probably don't need the encouragement either.....but I always "need" new stuff LOL!
  16. I always purchase from Ridge Road Station. I've always gotten free shipping there, excellent customer service, and good prices. Plus, they ship super quickly.
  17. A laptop gift card to an online digital scrapbooking store some vinyl wall adhesives from etsy.com gift card to Hobby Lobby or the like to purchase things to decorate the house George Foreman grill to use while camping new cordless phones....ours broke Super Mario Wii
  18. I purchased the following for my DD's: Vitamin C, Vitamin D, a multi vitamin, and probiotics. These can all be taken together, daily, right? I'm not really "in the know" about all this stuff LOL. Just want to make sure I'm not overdosing them on something....if that's possible. The probiotic I bought for kids is primadolpilus. I thought that probiotics were acidolphilus. What's the difference? Elderberry syrup....I looked at this but did not purchase it. Is it something that you take on a daily basis? Or only when you are sick? Can this be used together with Oscillococonuim? Or should you only need to use one of them? Has anyone ever heard/used Phytocillin? My friend uses it all the time when her kids are sick. And olive leaf extract. What would the benefits of them be? The same or different than the Elderberry syrup and Oscillo? Which ones should we take when we are sick?
  19. We are going through this right now. Ugh. Yesterday I went to Whole Foods and purchased Vitamin D, Vitamin C, probiotics and a multivitamin. I plan to kick this thing out of our house LOL.
  20. I want my DD's to be best friends and know they are there for each other.....so I want them to play together the most. My girls are 3 years apart and play together constantly. We do not do playdates, mostly because I'm pretty shy and do not really have friends, and both my DD's are shy as well. We actually got invited to a birthday party in a few weeks for a little girl in our homeschool group. I guess we will attend. DD wants to go.....but I have a feeling it will just be us three, sitting in our own little corner together LOL.
  21. LOL! That is hilarious!! I'm a photographer, and whenever I try to take a photo of my 2 year old, that's exactly what happens. Love it!
  22. Wow. Yeah, that is ummm....rude and inconsiderate. I think I'd have to hit the reply button and just put one word in my email...."Huh????"
  23. Definitely give him a list next time. Say "Hey Sweetie, I've been jotting down a few things that I would REALLY love for my birthday......here ya go." And hand him the list. If that does not work, I think you need to sit him down and explain it to him LOL.
  24. I think it is time to find a new doctor. You deserve to be treated nicely. You deserve to have a doctor do everything they can to improve your health. And the doctor is working for YOU. You are paying them, you decide if they are being a good enough "employee." If not, they need to be let go. In this case, it sounds like they need to be let go. Your health cannot suffer due to their lack of concern.
