  1. no....the sun is SHINING! Finally after all the gray skies the sun is here.:D
  2. Cold here in the Skagit Valley! We just had a doozy of a storm come thru. You know they say that summer doesn't officially start until July 5th in the Pacific North West!
  3. Thanks! That was so much fun and my son thought I could actually draw. Fooled him.;)
  4. I agree with those who bought their bunk beds from Costco. We go ours about 8 years ago when our then youngest was ready to get out of her crib. They are still going strong. They are hardwood and very durable, we have taken them apart at least three times with moves and they are still solid!
  5. We have used the Adventure Bible for all of our kids and also the ESV(English Standard Version). A tradition we started was to give our kids a real Bible when they turn six. So this week we gave the ESV children's Bible to our youngest dd.
  6. I had to have my dh get a six pack of Mikes for me last Friday too!
  7. Right now I would take the downpours with the heat. In NW Washington it has been in the 50's all week and raining, with SNOW for-cast for the mountains! Wish that global warming would kick in I'm tired of being cold!:glare::D;)
  8. We live so close to one that we save a lot on the staples for our family of five. Plus gas is much cheeper there.:auto:
  9. OOOHHHH Yankee Candles...... I have a friend who has those and have been wanting to buy some. Then on Sunday while getting myself lost looking for a bookstore:D, I came across a WHOLE store that sells them...... Unfortunately I was in a hurry and couldn't take the time to go in, and that and the store is 45 min. to the south of here.:glare: Oh well, maybe I could get "lost" again sometimes.;)
  10. Sounds to me like you are already schooling at home.:001_smile: When our family was trying to decide what our options were we were in the same dilemma, no money for private christian school, public was not an option and so we looked at homeschooling. Seven years later we are now schooling three! We have found that there are so many options for "socialization" out their that it was never a problem as far as that goes. None of my kids have missed out on the Kindergarten experience because we were fortunate to find a great co-op that met once a week and had Kindergarten programs as well. Enjoy your time. Hope this was encouraging.
  11. When our daughters were four months old we took them to the local mall, Claire's to get their ears pierced. I talked to the pediatrician about doing it in the office but she told me that they do just as good a job and are just as safe as the doctors. Plus they didn't cost as much as an office visit. Just make sure that she follows the instructions about caring for them afterward and she shouldn't have any problems.
  12. my name is Traci,............and I am a homeschooler. :D Live in the Pacific Northwest, have pretty much homeschooled the whole time, except when my oldest was 4 and went to a really small preschool. Have been schooling now for seven years using TWTM approach. I also coordinate a coop in our area.
  13. My husband and I attended the WATCH convention last year. It was wonderful. Diana Waring and Steve Lambert were the key speakers. We both came away energized and encouraged. I highly recommend it to anyone. This year sounds to be even better.
  14. ...she has started reading everything she can get her hands on. She has also started to write stories on her own. Whoo Hoo!!:hurray: I took her to Barnes and Noble to spend a gift card she got for her birthday and she picked out a journal and a classic book to read(without me prompting her) Can I just say(brag) how much that pleases me? :D
  15. I finally found some music that we all like to listen to! Ever hear of Go Fish! The kids and I are bopping around the living room to it.
  16. This happens a lot at our house. Usually though it is egg shells.:D Hope you can get it cleared out.
  17. I would reply very sweetly, " Well I guess that's why we all chose to home-school independently, that way we can do whatever works for our own children/family." Or "Every-one's entitled to their own opinion" then smile and roll your eyes.;)
  18. I have two of those! I have to be very stealthy as I file a lot of their "masterpieces" in the circular file (the recycle bin);)
  19. :hurray:  :willy_nilly: Mine is scheduled for delivery today! Whoo-hoo!
