  5. DS 8 has a DS we do not have a wii. 1/2 hour per day allowed and it must be after ALL school, music practice, reading, chores etc.. The half hour must be purchased using a ticket (we use Accountable Kids) So if no tickets, no game time. The exceptions to this are if it is a special occasion like he has a sleep over with a friend or something.
  6. I don;'t understand why people think THIS version is creepy. The old version was creepy in my opinion. The new one is wicked funny (yes, I am from New England.) Of course that could be the difference between me being a kid when watching the older one and an adult watching the newer one.
  7. Growing up our ketchup was always kept in the cupboard/pantry. Even now my parents still keep it there. I prefer it that way also for the same reasons your ds states. Unfortunately the notion was so foreign to my husband that I was forced to start putting it in the fridge in our house. Actually, in a lot of restaurants the ketchup bottles are not kept refrigerated. They are often found on the table....
  8. Great...I wanted to LEAVE the computer tonight! 4.07
  9. Can anyone direct me to some Christmas lapbooks I can purchase and download? My kids are 5 and 8. I have never done a lapbook yet but I am feeling adventurous...for now anyway! Thanks!
  10. The way this is worded worries me. It makes God look petty. Like He just created some random rule: Believe in this guy and I will save you otherwise I won't. As a believer I understand what the guy is trying to say but I think to a non-believer it could be misconstrued. So I will attempt to clear it up: A person is not condemned for refusing to believe in Christ. A person is condemned because of their sins. God loves us so He offers us a pardon . We can accept or reject that pardon. If we reject the pardon that is our choice but we are not then condemned for rejecting the pardon. We are condemned for the sins we have committed. Think of it like this: If a person commits a crime and the judge offers a pardon but the criminal rejects the pardon then the criminal is not punished for rejecting the pardon. He is punished for the original crime he committed. He has chosen to pay for the crime himself. KWIM? Sorry I just had to clear that up. The sloppiness of Christian wording really bugs me sometimes...OOPS...Did I just insert myself into a controversial thread...??****exiting quietly now****:leaving:
  11. Are the songs from Classical Conversations the same as the ones that you get on the VP memory song CDs? If not which are better? Do they both follow the VP cards? TIA!
  12. I love Frank Turek's book and his website/ organization that is dedicated to this: http://www.crossexamined.org/
  13. Wow! I didn't know that Spunky was back! I really missed reading her blog. :)
  14. Could you please explain to me how to do this? The idea intrigues me. You must have to use steel cut oats, am I right? Do you have to add extra milk to keep them from turning out all dry and icky? Do you cook on low or high? TIA! :D
  15. I too need protein in the morning. I love to make yogurt smoothies. Mine are pretty simple: 1 cup vanilla yogurt, handful of frozen strawberries (frozen makes it more cold and icy) handful of ice and blend. When I am feeling stressed I add a couple of spoonfuls of chocolate syrup.well....ok...most days I add chocolate.. yummy, tastes like a frappe
  16. ummm....I guess I am up for a bad mommy award for this. My son has already made breakfast for himself and his sister by the time I pull myself out of bed. And he's only barely 8.... I guess his survival instinct just kicked in when he was quite young and he figured he had better learn to feed himself if he wants to eat in the morning. oh well, it's life skills training! Right??!
  17. This is a real bummer. Just an idea: Is there a CBS nearby? I am not sure there policy regarding this but they are a smilar type group. My kids love CBS. http://www.communitybiblestudy.org/
  18. It depends on how comfortable I am with the abbreviation. If it is something I have seen a billion times and I know what it means then I just say the letter names. If it is something I am not very familiar with but I still know what it stands for then I tend to say the words. If I don't even know what it stands for then I start trying to gues certain words to see if it fits the context... KWIM?
