Need help-- Calling all homeschoolers
ShelzNH replied to wy_kid_wrangler04's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
:confused::confused: Since when is New York a New England state?!? Sorry...no disrespect...LOL I am a native New Englander (New Hampshire) And I assure you New York is NOT a New England state LOL... (New England states are: Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont. OK, I am off my soap box now. I realize it really isn't that important :D Anyways...What do you need help with? Feel free to PM me -
Hi all, I could use some input. Money is in short supply KWIM? 1. Can you start WWE 2 without having done WWE1? From the samples WWE 1 looks too easy for my dc. I would be using it with my second grade happy writer girl and 4th grade unhappy writer boy. Both have done FLL 1&2 IN THE PAST 2.Is it necessary to buy the WWE Text? My understanding is that the workbooks contain the teacher information in them. 3. Are the workbooks consumable? i couldn't seem to find the copyright info. But 30 dollars a workbook seemed steep for a consumable... Thanks for your help!

Thanks! I know it is certainly more pricey than we are used to. However I really liked the look of the fraction overlays and how he uses them to help understand various concepts. Does LOF do something similar? I am not familiar with them...

My son has just completed Singapore 4A which covers fractions. He did OK with it but I just feel like he doesn't quite UNDERSTAND WHY he does certain things like make common denominators and such. I was just watching the sample video at Math U See for Epsilon (Fractions) and I really like the way he presents the information and explains it. I am considering getting it to sort of solidify some of the stuff he has learned. However I am curious how long it will take to go through the book. Will it take a whole school year? Considering he has had some teaching in it already? He did RightStart A, B, and half of C before we switched to Singapore so he is not completely unaware of the visual approach but I don't want a year long learning curve trying to figure out a new method. KWIM?Thanks for any thoughts..

Since belonging to our Christian homeschool group I have known at least three people to come to Christ. Two of whom told me that the believers in our group had a direct influence on their change of heart... So sad to think where those people would be if our group had closed its doors to non-christians...It is this kind of un-Christian behavior that turns so many away from Jesus... On the other hand I am glad the leadership of my group is coming from a Christian perspective. The membership manual clearly states that the group is Christian and that the co-op classes are taught from a Christian perspective.

How far along are you in "school" this year?

Week 19 of 36 in Sonlight. -
We have DSL here. We pay for the cheaper version of DSL that is supposed to be slower. Not sure what the stats are but when I test my connection at speedtest.net it says I average 2.88 Mbps. We have been streaming Netflix on my computer for over a year with no problems at all. HOWEVER, my husbands computer which is on the same internet connection cannot stream netflix because of his memory and/or processor speed. So apparently you need to take into consideration the stats on your actual computer as well. But like I said netflix works great on my computer with DSL

thank for the suggestions so far. I was looking at all of the games and accessories and I was getting a serious headache. There are so many things and I didn't know what I would need to play things. One thing my son really would like is apparently there is a nerf gun game...I can't seem to find any info about it though. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming!

Looks like we are getting a Nintendo Wii for Christmas from my parents. My son will be excited. He has been wanjting one for a while now. I am curious what, in your opinion, are must haves for games and accessories? I have a 9.5 yo boy and 7 yo girl. Oh, and one other thing, my son has a DS. Will he be able to play his DS games on the Wii? Thank you so much. This is all foreign to me

Just a picture of dinner. It was so pretty I had to take a picture.. Loaded Baked Potato Soup garnished with bacon, fried potato skins, sour cream and scallions. Yes it was yummy and VERY filling and NOT incredibly healthy :D Link in sig
