  1. Ours is up! Our pastor came to visit us at ITEC (the Indigenous People's Technology and Education Center). The photos are of my husband demonstrating our portable dental system to our pastor. Our pastor is the mock patient and he gets a little nervous. Have a blessed Wednesday! Heather www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com
  2. Here is our Wordless Wednesday. Our life feels like a bit of an adventure ride right now, so I thought this was fitting. Last month we earned our free tickets to Disney World by volunteering with Disney. Our free day at Disney was so much fun, especially since it had been 5 years since our last visit. Have a great day! 3. I called mine Speechless Wednesday because I just realized how much my kids have grown. My son turned 13 a couple of weeks ago and in 2 months went from a shoe size of 9.5 to a 12. The realization that my kids are growing up is hitting me. Am I ever grateful that I have homeschooled and haven't missed a moment of that! What a blessing it is to watch them grow and mature. Have a great day! Heather www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com
  4. We are similar in our approach to homeschooling and have also had to travel a few times. I've found an older woman from church to watch the kids for a couple of days and then another homeschooling family for a couple of days, too. It has meant changing our ways while we were away and allowing the kids to be "more plugged in" than usual. I usually give the kids a very strict, but short schedule for school so that they work independently. Our friends have commented that they love having our kids, so it has worked so far! It is a real challenge! Heather
  5. I don't have a tv anymore, so I might be a bit out of date. My kids loved "Liberty Kids" and "How It's Made". They also love to watch Mythbusters whenever they can. I know it's not very educational, but it does make science guys look cool! Heather
  6. If you can handle it, why don't you continue going to the group. Maybe you'll have a chance to influence the opinions of the group over time. I've had many people tell me that it was by watching our family that they started to accept the idea of homeschooling. Some home schoolers are a little off and do earn the bad reputation. It takes a number of positive stories to erase prejudices from people's minds. Living out a "healthy homeschooling" lifestyle can be a bigger influence than any confrontation ever can. Don't be too hard on yourself. Confrontation isn't always the best method. Heather
  7. I try to stock up on WFM's "lite" organic coconut milk. Their lower fat brand of coconut milk is a good price and it is good quality. If you like Thai food like I do, it's a great place to stock up. Mmmm.... Enjoy! Heather
  8. Here's ours for this week. www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com Have a great humpday! Heather
  9. We did our volunteer service this past Monday and it was really simple. Our family made "Thinking of You" cards at a local hospital for 1.5 hours and that was enough to qualify for the free ticket. Most of the opportunities are for adults, but there are specific ones for children as young as 6. We hope to receive our email voucher soon and hit Disney before March. Heather
  10. Ours is up. The kids and I went hunting for manatees last week. The cool weather in Florida has forced the manatees to seek the warmer water inland, this makes for easy spotting. My husband flew over Kings Bay and took the aerial shot. www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com Have a blessed Wednesday! Heather
  11. Ours is up. The kids had a little fun on our trip to the beach on Boxing Day. Happy New Year! Heather www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com
  12. My photo is from my brief trip home to Canada last week. My best friend was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and when my husband (a missionary doc) read the pathology results he started surfing the web for cheap flights home for me. What a good guy! He found an amazing deal (thank you Lord!) and I was able to go home for a week. It was a blessed time with my dear friend. I think I needed that time with her as much as she needed the support. www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com Blessings! Heather
  13. Ours is up. This week we spent a day at St. Augustine Beach with my parents who were visiting from Canada. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Heather www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com
  14. Ours is up. These are photos of our kids biking at the park down the street. www.escuelitaencasa.blogspot.com Happy Wednesday! Heather ministry blog- www.perubensler.blogspot.com
