  1. I gave up on my inlaws. We live right next door and MIL as seen the baby twice for 5 minutes and held her long enough to take a pic than gave her right back. They didn't even acknowledge DD1s bday this year. :( Luckily my parents make up for it though. They live 2 1/2 hrs away and do more for the kiddos birthdays and see them more than the people living next door.
  2. I agree with it. I did buy DS some "big boy" books for Christmas because he asked for them but he is welcome to put those aside and just read picture books. I don't care as long as he is reading something!
  3. HWT: Handwriting Without Tears MWF: My Father's World
  4. $50....I went to the mall and got a white prom dress on clearance.
  5. Meet him where he is! DS would be bored to death if I made him go over shapes, letters and numbers just because he "Pre-K" age. You can always slow down if need be :)
  6. Here is what I used with my accelerated 4 yr old for his K year: Math: Horizons K Handwriting: Handwriting Without Tears Science: Lots of experiments! History: Netflix and Library Phonics: Explode the Code, Alpha-Phonics and lots of reading
  7. If DH is not able to watch them I have to take all 3. There is no other option.
  8. DS and DD1 are getting 4 books each, watercolor paint and a painting tablet. DS is getting a writing tablet. DD is getting a big preschool workbook. I think that's it.
  9. I call animal control. My mother passed away when I was 10yrs old due to trying to get a cat that had run in the road.
  10. Can somebody give me a list of phonics based spelling programs that would be good to use?
  11. Yes, it is. I didn't even think of the spelling program covering phonics.
  12. DS was doing Grade 1 La LifePac. The grammar was frustrating him and the phonics was way below him. I have been trying to make Alpha phonics work and he does not like it all. So we shelved that and I gave him a reading assessment from Let's Go Learn. His results said he has the reading comprehension of mid K but it said his phonics was high 4th grade. How accurate is Let's Go Learn? Since I wasn't sure what to do with him we went to the library and I had him pick out a beginner chapter book. He picked out a Magic Tree house book. We read one chapter together this morning. I would read a paragraph then he would. He only needed help with 2 words. Do I need to continue phonics with him or can we just read books together to improve his reading:confused: If I need to continue phonics with him what would you recommend? He likes workbooks but does not like ETC.

  14. Not strange to me! I was 13-15 when the first gen Nintendo DS came out and I bought me the new 3DS on release day :D
  15. We did with DS closer to 12 months but he was waking EVERY hr. He was drinking close to 35ozs a night and then eating good during the day. I couldn't take it anymore. The first night he cried so much but I would go in every 10 min. or less and rub his back and sing to him. The second night was a little better and he would only cry for 5 min. when he woke up. The third night he started sleeping through the night and has ever night since unless he is sick. I don't see any harm in it at 10months+ as long as you let the child know you are still there with them and you don't just leave them in their room all by themselves to cry.
  16. I would contact a local humane society and give them your criteria for a pet and they will set you up with a dog that matches your family. Whatever you do DO NOT but from a puppy store and if you buy from a breeder make sure they are not a puppy mill.
  17. 1st - 38 weeks 5 days 2nd - 38 weeks 4 days 3rd - 38 weeks Not true for me.
  18. DS and DD1 loved that toy! It was by far there favorite toy at that age.
  19. I will cut it out immediately and see if it helps. Thank you! :)
  20. I love Robeez for infants! They stay on little feet so much better than normal shoes. I just bought DD2 a pair for $10 from Stride Rite.
  21. DD2 has been waking every hour since she was 3 months old. Well she is now 6 1/2 months old and still doing it. I have tried everything to get her to sleep better. I just realized I drink a pop every day. Could the caffeine be acting as a stimulant for her?? I didn't drink pop for the first 3 months of her life because when I did it gave her a tummy ache and BAD gas. I tried pop again when she was 3 months old and it didn't seem to give her gas BUT I think that is when she started sleeping like crap. When she gets up in the morning she is happy as can be, even though she was up all night. I seriously don't know why I didn't think of this before
