That's ok. I don't like shrimp or any kind of seafood. I get those same looks! :D Apparently we used to have a crepery here, that I didn't know existed until it closed down. You can still see their menu on Urban Spoon. Oh my! I wish I would have known about it, I would have gone. It all sounded yummy! I love that kind of cream! You can get it at a few restaurants and it is so good. I don't like the extra sweet cream that you can make at home either... it's too sweet. I wish we could get heavy cream w/ no sugar added.

This is what I'm craving..chicken in some sort of crème sauce..just not sure what kind of crème sauce. Do you have a favorite recipe?

Favorite fillings? Looking for savory ideas, but sweet is always good, so... Yesterday I played around w/ a gluten free crepe batter, and I added some dill mix seasonings to one of them... sooo yummy! Now I want filling ideas to go w/ it, and some ideas for something new. I was originally trying to come up w/ a tortilla alternative to make breakfast tacos for the dc, but now I just want crepes. Yum.

Don't waste your money! Most expensive mistake we made in homeschooling was to purchase Rosetta Stone. You're better off just getting those travel tapes from the bookstore, and using youtube videos. (the travel tapes were recommended by a Foreign born friend, who also taught his native language in the local high school for years before moving to a local College to teach)

Wow! I can't even imagine someone sending an email like that, unless it was a good friend making a joke. I would tell the the neighbor who started all this, that maybe it's time she puts up her own fence. Unless of course her side of the street is not allowed by the HOA. (I hate HOA's. My property to do w/ as I please, w/in legal limits, of course.)

Another chapter in the Doug Phillips/Vision Forum saga

Am I the only one who doesn't think that more girls/women will come forward? I do think there have been other cases of abuse by this perv., but considering the way these girls are taught that men are the authority, and their fathers and brothers are taught the same, is it very likely that they will allow their daughters and sisters from speaking out, or is it more likely they will try and prevent them from coming forward? If no one is telling them it's okay to speak up, chances are they won't. I feel the same about his kids writing a tell all. They have been raised to believe this kind of thing is okay, and not to question the actions of their father. And their mother certainly isn't going to tell them different. -
Do you cut open the toothpaste tube in order to use more toothpaste?
Unicorn. replied to unsinkable's topic in The Chat Board
Now I do this. I add just enough water to get every last bit off the sides and bottom. :D -
Do you cut open the toothpaste tube in order to use more toothpaste?
Unicorn. replied to unsinkable's topic in The Chat Board
My tube doesn't have any folds. I squeeze and flatten from the bottom, no rolls or folds. I pay 97 cents for a tube of toothpaste. I don't think I would even save a tube over a lifetime. I think you have me beat on being frugal. Dh would be shocked! -
This makes sense, in your original post, you said {quote} that they would never make about someone who is fat {end quote} and I read it as people would never make a derogatory comment about someone who is fat. Actually, I do understand the comments about skinny people not being okay. I wish everyone could be happy w/ their body, and the rest of the world would just accept everyone for who they are, and stop thinking everyone has to fit into some media or govt imposed mold. Sorry I read your first post wrong...

To the bolded.. are you kidding? Society in general and the media, make girls think they need to be anorexically thin, in order to be beautiful. They call girls/women w/ healthy size 10 bodies "plus size models". My girls are neither thin nor fat, and get derogatory remarks all the time. One of dd's friends who is a bit overweight is brutally made fun of. Their peers all buy in to the "must be stick thin" to be beautiful, and every single teen girl I know who isn't naturally stick thin has some sort of eating issue. I do know for skinny girls, some of them have issue w/ it, but they don't receive the criticism that girls w/ curves get. I DO, however, agree w/ you, that mom should just let it go, and let her be who she is. Unless there is a real reason to increase her fat/protein content, such as adding weight after an illness. I think your post was spot on in that regard!

I'm Losing Patience with these Neighbors
Unicorn. replied to Jean in Newcastle's topic in The Chat Board
Next time she asks, tell her "My dogs are fine, but I'm worried about yours. They sure do bark a lot." :D Too subtle? -
PHP ads are back for me, too.

No, I get a blank space where the PHP logo and stuff usually is, though.

Considering a quirky house and have questions
Unicorn. replied to Harriet Vane's topic in The Chat Board
It sounded ideal until... 1. dehumidifier in the crawl space... not normal 2. Mossy roof the spongy yard could have been from the rain, but when you add in the other two factors, I'm going to say dampness is a major problem. I dream of a place with a creek, but I wouldn't get this one, because I would constantly be worrying about mold issues. I had a damp, spongy yard one time, due to a too small septic tank (and there were only two of us). It was impossible to mow, because it was always wet... and the grass would get high. I had to cut it all w/ a weed eater. blech -
If it makes you feel better, then do it. I don't think it should come out of your budget though. If dh is supposed to do it, then he should pay, or you should at least split it. Ok, rant over. My sister pays $30-$35 every two weeks for her yard. He mows, trims, and blows her yard.

High School proms/formal dances....What does your teen pay?
Unicorn. replied to 1pageatatime's topic in The Chat Board
Ds is a jr. and I'm paying for it. He hasn't had a job that paid enough for him to save anything before this summer. (He does start a job in a week, so he will probably pay for most of it next year) Tux and mask (masquerade theme) prob about $100 Prom tickets $80 per couple dinner $40 per couple (we are renting a boxcar at the train museum, and a friend is making all the food. our prom doesn't include dinner) corsage.. I don't know yet, as we haven't ordered it.. prob $30 ish Ouch. -
Anyone else have this problem when shopping?
Unicorn. replied to Hikin' Mama's topic in The Chat Board
Yes, Yes, and YES! Oh, and why must plus size = short and fat? I'm tall. Not all tall people are built like a super model. When I do find something, the shirts are always too short. I don't want my belly showing, thank you very much. I live in t-shirts and jeans for a reason. Winter is better, because I can at least throw on a solid turtleneck and dress it up w/ a scarf. Sigh. I used to find cute clothes at Dress Barn, but they have gone to crap... trying to make Jr. style clothing for grown ups, or super dressy, and nothing in between. I give up. -
Need to Report Urgent Care Doc, But Where to Exactly?
Unicorn. replied to Butter's topic in The Chat Board
Butter, glad you are okay! Just curious, was it an Urgent Care, or a Tx Med Clinic? I ask because our Urgent Care is fabulous, but the TX Med Cllinics are a joke. I think the docs who work there got their degrees from a gumball machine. I understand why they called your dh, but calling the ER.. that's creepy and out of line. He was probably panicking for misdiagnosing you. -
I would just let them set it up and have the stand. If someone comes along and says they can't sell w/out a permit, then they can give it away... and put out a tip jar! :coolgleamA:

I'd send the woman a message along the lines of "Thank you for allowing my daughter to live with you. I'm so happy she's in a safe environment". And I'm happy for you and your dd!!

Can anything be taken in addition to Zyrtec for seasonal allergies?
Unicorn. replied to Pegasus's topic in The Chat Board
You need to be careful w/ Afrin. Using it on a reg basis actually causes problems. It stops working, and makes you feel like you need it more and more, which is why people become "addicted" to it. OP- yes you can give Benadryl on top of Zyrtec. Our doc told me to do this for one of the dc last year when allergies were a big problem. You aren't supposed to take zyrtec and clariton though. -
Thank you for the help! Update in post 63
Unicorn. replied to ILiveInFlipFlops's topic in The Chat Board
I stopped reading replies. I would do it. If they had a car until the accident, I assume they had insurance on it, so could afford insurance on the van. From everything you have said about them, these aren't irresponsible people, just hard working people who are struggling to survive. I say do it.
