  1. Don't lie and tell people it was good. If people are asking you, they will want your honest opinion. I would tell people (only when directly asked) that the cake was decorated beautifully. Most people can read in to that, but if pressed about the taste of the cake, I would gently say that it wasn't my favorite, but of course everyone's tastes are different. I would give as positive a review as I could while bring entirely truthful.
  2. Tornado warnings have expired (still under watch for next few hours), but I am really over this weather.
  3. I knew a guy who, when he transitioned, went from one androgynous name to another. I always found it ironic that his given name was a more stereotypical male name than his chosen one. (Obviously that was my opinion at least.)
  4. I got a 30, which surprised me as I felt like I was guessing at almost all of them. Or maybe not guessing, but I wouldn't have been surprised to find out my answer was wrong for most if not all. And the heavily made up women were difficult to read. Sitting at the edge allows one a lot of time for observation. I'm very introverted, but also interested in people and human nature, so I think in general I read people well.
  5. I'd ask to look at ingredients for other brands, but Boar's Head is gluten free.
  6. I just tried with Siri and one of my playlists, and it worked fine, so hopefully the apple techs can help you with the glitch.
  7. Congratulations! Hope you're feeling better soon.
  8. If you're going to get an iPad, I would definitely get an iPhone, as you can share apps with your apple account, so you won't find yourself buying the same app twice. I would pay the bit extra for the 4s, as I think it has more memory than the 4. (8g with the 4, and 16 with the 4s?)
  9. Do lime/lemon juices bother you like vinegar does? I would do avocado with lime juice and cilantro and garlic. Alternatively, you could try dressing your salads with flavored olive oils (infused with basil or other herbs)?
  10. All-occasion Downy Yellow Butter Cake from The Cake Bible. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/All-Occasion-Downy-Yellow-Butter-Cake-102289
  11. Think about how much time you could save (or extra sleep you could get in) if you could though...
  12. Yes, you can either download them and transfer to your iPad, or alternatively you can download the audible app to your iPad and download/listen through that.

    All Done

    Wonderful to hear!
  14. I've found that lately when I've ordered things on Thursday, 2 day shipping has it delivered on Saturday, when previously it would be Monday or Tuesday. I actually ordered something today that when I ordered was estimated to arrive Saturday. It has since shipped and I will receive it tomorrow (Friday).
  15. I listened to it last year on audio and really enjoyed it. More (actual) thoughts later.
  16. Our bank is pretty good with regular charges, even when traveling (to places we often travel to), but I always make a point to call the bank/credit card companies before going anywhere new/out of the ordinary, so the cards don't get flagged for fraud. It's annoying, but less annoying that dealing with disabled cards while away. Our bank is so used to amazon charges in particular, that I've bought things before updating my debit card info (so essentially buying with an inactive card) and whenever possible, they still allow the charges to go through.
  17. Thinking of you and your whole family today. (Hugs)
  18. I saw your tackle Saturday thread and then this one just a few below it. As you can tell, I chose the slacker thread.
  19. When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion: Routine... (1) The woman buys the food. (2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert. (3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand. Here comes the important part: (4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL. More routine.... (5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery. (6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation. Important again: (7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN. More routine.... (8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table. (9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes. And most important of all: (10) Everyone PRAISES and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts. (11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.' And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....
  20. Yes. I think the gas stations get around this by offering a "discount" for paying in cash, so they are not technically charging more for using a credit card.
  21. I don't have any good recommendations, but in answer to your second question, you will only be able to read the book on an actual kindle, not a kindle app on your iPad. Personally, I find that to be really annoying, as I prefer to read on my phone, and feel I should still get the benefits of having Prime and (multiple) Kindles...
