  1. It looks like you have it all covered and are doing just fine :o)
  2. INFJ here. This was fun to do. I like personality-type quizzes and info.
  3. We do a simple version. Cook ramen noodles and drain water. Add in the spice packet that comes with them and enough mayo to mix it up. Then add a can of water chestnuts and some cooked chicken and mix together. This is good warm but we prefer it after it has been in the refrigerator for a couple hours. I got the recipe from a Veterans lunch they were serving.
  4. I am sure some will have a better answer to this but The Well Trained Mind is a resource for homeschooling using the classical approach. It explains the trivium and gives curriculum examples for each stage. The Well Educated Mind is a book for adults that wish they could have had the classical education. It teaches how to read classic books and gives a schedule for which books to read and what ways to approach them. So if you are wanting a homeschool resource you would want TWTM and if you are looking for yourself or possibly a highschooler then you could use TWEM. Hope this helps some!
  5. Mine is up. Wasn't an overly eventful week, but it is still up.
  6. I had no idea but wanted to purchase a new one. I just might pick this up!
  7. I'm laughing because this rings so true! Except for the savings part because try as I might I can't forget it is there, lol. :001_smile:
  8. :iagree: This is exactly how mine have worked out. I have an "I do it", an "I can't do it", and the "I won't do it" which is somewhere in between as they test their boundaries. Good luck!!!
  9. I would love to browse your shelves!!! Non-fiction intrigues me more than fiction. My friends tell me about these great fictional books and I am just not into them. I prefer any type of book that I can truly gain something from. So you guys aren't alone :o)
  10. I just googled it and found it by William Butler Yeats. Amazing, I have it on here as a quote and on a bulletin board in our school room and I never took the time to see who it belonged to. And it took a whole 2 minutes to find, lol. :o)
  11. No, I received it in a card from a friend and don't know where they got it at. I should research it and see though. It just fit perfectly for me!
  12. Thank you everyone for the replies. It is obvious that this is possible to obtain. My level of fluency that I was asking about was just being able to carry on short conversations, read simple books, and understand or be capable of figuring out most of the common vocabulary. We live in a farming/ranching community where a lot of the workers speak Spanish only. I can understand the basics of what they are saying when we converse but I would like my children (and myself) to understand more than that. I have heard before that the spanish taught isn't the same as the spoken spanish around here. Does anyone know if that is true?
  13. You did a beautiful job on them. A group of hs ladies in my area are talking about doing an apron party with some old patterns. I hope ours turn out as lovely as yours did! Great job.
  14. This is me! I finish the texts and that decides when our break comes.:001_smile:
  15. What a great thread! I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyone's wish list! I even got some great ideas from it. I don't have anything to post since I just purchased my order last week. We could start a new thread with what we already bought so far this year. :)
  16. I just placed my order last week and I had two items on back order. It is the dreaded email saying something wasn't in stock, that means I have to muster more patience to wait for my box day!
  17. We have placemats that I change for the seasons and in the center is a lazy susan that I painted some pansies on and on top of it is a napkin holder, salt, pepper, and a small vase of some cut flowers from the garden. At meal times I just move the vase to the kitchen and we are ready to eat. If I don't have fresh cut flowers then I do a bowl of fake (very real looking) fruit or if I am lazy then nothing goes in the center and atleast the lazy susan is painted pretty!
  18. That is funny!! I live in an area with mostly unschoolers as well. Possibly I should buy a book to lend out and convert them, lol. You made me laugh!
  19. I use SOTW for my third, K, and pre-K. My pre-K just likes to color the pictures, my K and 3rd grader love it. It gets my vote!
  20. Did you guys set up for email updates from them or something? I order from them and never have received an email from them. I am apparently missing out on these, lol.
  21. I've used CL and I have never received responses like that. I would much rather they ask the questions through email to decide if they are interested!
  22. World Book has a scope and sequence for each grade and subject. That has been the only one that I found on the web. About.com uses it on their site as well. HTH!
  23. I took two years of spanish years ago and all that stuck with me was some basic vocab and simple sentences. I would like my children to learn Spanish but unless we spoke it daily, throughout their their childhood/adolescence, would they retain enough to be able to speak it fluently and carry on conversations? How many of you have taught a foreign language to where your child/children can speak it fluently? What languages did you select to teach them and why? Thanks in advance!
