  1. I agree. I think the majority of parents are aware that it is typical for children to eat somewhat unhealthy foods at events like this. I am assuming other items will be served along with the chips that will balance that out. I also like the comment someone made about chips being just as bad at 10am as 3pm. Time isn't an issue, it is the food that is an issue.
  2. I would like to try this. I'll send an email to you!
  3. Okay here is my desk which was previously the table from our sun porch. It is still functional although not as clean and cleared off as I would like it to be. The bulletin board on the wall makes it look twice as cluttered huh. Might have to do something about that. Great now that I had to see it this way I will have to spend time today organizing it. Thanks!:glare:
  4. After viewing your desk I can climb out from under mine! I was nervous when I seen Jean's, dead flowers and all it looks twenty times more functional than mine. I can relate to yours Tracey! Let me get the camera and then I'll share mine.
  5. I order yearly from RR and aside from the occasional back order I have been completely satisfied. Customer service has always been very friendly regarding back orders and the shipping is reasonable. I like the convenience of using their wish list feature and then placing one order instead of several to get free shipping.:001_smile:
  6. Rachel, we will pray for all of you. It has been all over the news the devastation you are all facing.:grouphug:
  7. Your cupboards look great! I love organizing things too but don't have anything near what yours is. Although give me a label maker and I could, lol. My compulsive behavior is washing my hands. If I touch anything I have to wash them. It's from my childhood and unfortunately I have never outgrown it. Also drying my shower out after someone uses it. I can't stand water spots on it. That's a little too anal isn't it? I like it to be dry for some crazy reason! And I liked the alarm clock one, that was funny!
  8. This is absolutely gorgeous! I love victorian homes with all the trim and woodwork. My dining room is very practical and serves a purpose (we have lived here one year and have yet to remodel it, sadly). Yours is beautiful!
  9. thanks! I'll go look for the sticky since I have a ton to learn about this board. :)
  10. Is there somewhere that you read this or how did you figure it out?
  11. We have more than one bathroom but a friend has four children and one bath. She has vanities in the girls' bedrooms so they can do hair and get ready in there instead of the bathroom. She hangs towels over the foot of their beds. As for schedules she has two at night and two in the morning do showers. She has never mentioned when her and her husband shower- nor have I asked. lol. They have done it for the 7 years that I have known them so it is possible. Good luck with your transition!
  12. Welcome to the board. I personally have not used Saxon or K12 so I can't offer anything here. My daughter, 9, uses Christian Light Education (CLE). It uses a spiral teaching method that is easy to implement with an advanced child. They learn one new concept a day and review previously learned ones in each lesson. If the previously learned one come easily then you can skip ahead to the next new concept. The downfall is that it is black and white, not flashy by any means, and a workbook approach so it doesn't appeal to everyone. Hopefully by my replying it will bump your post to the top and others who are more familiar with K12 or Saxon can respond. Good luck on your quest for a math program!
  13. My dd9 is using SOTW and we don't do anything but read the chapters, some extra books on the topics that interest her, and keep a timeline. She prefers it this way and is retaining the information. I think history has to be enjoyed to be retained. If he doesn't like it the way you are currently doing it (narrations and AG) then try something else. I always think to myself how well I remember things I dislike- my answer is not very good. But if you give me something I am thoroughly enjoying then chances are good that I will remember it. Children are no different. So I think just using the book alone is worth a shot! Good luck.
  14. I wipe the covers of them, which makes me feel better although sensibly it wouldn't be killing all the germs. I use wet wipes as well.
  15. Mine are photos from Iraq that a friend sent to me during his deployment. The link is in my sig. line. Happy early WW everyone!
  16. CLE Math and Language, SOTW 1, R&S Bible, McGraw Hill Health, and CKE Biology for all at their various levels. DC9- Scribner Reading Series, Vocab Vines, Spanish in 10 min., DC5- CLE Learn to Read DC3- R&S ABC Series I should just put it in the sig. line so I could have said "in sig. line". :)
  17. I know it's a little late but mine is up. I couldn't miss out! Link is in the sig. line. Happy WW everyone!
  18. I dislike recording the messages. My voice never sounds the way I want (I guess sadly I sound like my 9 year old on the machine) or you can hear all the children in the background and it sounds like my house is in utter chaos (it sometimes is, lol). I went to the link you gave and downloaded one. Much better. Thanks!
  19. Sounds like you have it figured out! Enjoy your VBS:001_smile:
  20. The directors for our VBS plan on using clipboards. They do it each year as the scripts are much too long to memorize. VBS is hectic enough with everything else that has to be planned and overseen. Memorizing is one thing we like to eliminate. Good luck!
  21. :glare:Sadly, I have never put that into perspective. I always knew they needed to share and it didn't dawn on me that they need to come to that conclusion on their own. I can make them share but then it is simply coming from obedience not from their heart. What great advice. I need to go find a Sharpie!
