  1. You posted about using CLE and I have more questions for you, hope you don't mind. We have used it from the Learning to Read through 4th grade (current). I personally love it. My dd9 gets a bad attitude over the repetition of it- four pages every day doing the same format. If I spread out the lessons and only do a couple pages a day it will take two school years to complete one grade level. Have you had any problems with your child/children not liking the format? Any suggestions for me otherwise? I appreciate you helping.

  2. I wish I could have heard it. Wanna recap it for us...please?
  3. Thanks Lee, that is exactly how I feel. I, for myself, love CLE. I feel confident they are learning EVERYTHING they need. But is it too much? HSM- you gave me some great questions to think about. I am going to mull over this some more and then make my decision. Thank you both!
  4. Thanks for bumping it. I have tried ILL with my 4th grader for a week and I really like it. I just worry that it isn't enough. I don't know if that is me being overly worried after using CLE for so long (there is much more work to it) or if I have a valid concern.
  5. Can't top you but I had a BIG laugh over your post. This could have been me several times, lol.
  6. I'm bumping this in hopes that someone using one PLL or ILL will respond. :001_smile:
  7. I've used CLE Language from the beginning with my children. I have always been impressed with how thorough it is and the layout of it. I was introduced to Intermediate Language Lessons by a friend and am very intrigued. It appears to be a much gentler approach and something that they might retain better than just going through the motions in a workbook. Problem: I am struggling with leaving all the structure and thoroughness of CLE to change to ILL which looks lighter. So is ILL (and PLL for the littler ones) thorough aside from spelling? Could my children pass state testing with being taught using this book (in other words does it go in depth enough and is it repetetive enough)? If you have switched from R&S or CLE were you glad you did? Please help me to firm up my decision and cure me from the guilt of thinking this program might not be intense enough. TIA!
  8. My dd9 likes the Adventure Bible for Young Readers. It has nice illustrations and maps to help her understand what she is reading. There are so many choices that it is a difficult decision. Good luck finding a nice fit for her.:001_smile:
  9. I voted and the poll was still completely even. I can't wait to see which way it sways!
  10. This is me too. I love these types of books but I check them out from the library or borrow them from friends.
  11. I posted ours. It's a blast from the past I ran across in a drawer- my daughter several years ago. Happy WW everyone!
  12. :iagree:I agree with Rhonda. I have used this for a couple years successfully. I am by no means a gifted techy-type person but I managed to find what I needed on it and am pleased to have purchased it.
  13. I gravitate to these books the most. Although I enjoy all non-fiction so I could easily have changed my answer to any of them if I stared at the poll long enough, lol.:001_smile:
  14. :iagree: Exactly what I was thinking. I couldn't say it any better myself. You focus on getting better and make the time you have with them after school great. Then when you do feel better you can bring them home for schooling. :grouphug:
  15. I went to your blog to check out the weekly reports and couldn't figure out how to post a comment. I'm a dork like that sometimes apparently. Anyways, your whaling trip next week sounds like fun. I'll look forward to seeing pictures. Have a great weekend!

  16. Ours is up. We had a great week. I'm off to go check out everyone else's week. :001_smile:
  17. This would be us. We have a notebook with all the pertinent information in it so I hope that would help him, but the majority of it is in my name. We really should get power of attorneys.:glare:
  18. I want to keep this on the front page of the new posts because I would be interested in these too. So bump:001_smile:
  19. It could be. I've heard of such things and even stranger things they have done early. Good for the both of you if he is. Don't push him and make him hate it, nurture it and be glad that he is one child that you don't have to struggle with to teach to read, lol.
  20. :iagree::iagree: I can't say how much I agree with this! Wouldn't that be something if this happened, I personally would be ecstatic! I voted Baldwin because he is the closest to what I want to see for President.
  21. I liked the reps that were sincere. Not simply the ones that were for the sake of getting rep points and green squares. But the ones that people left to genuinely say they liked/disliked what you said, those were good. Although I miss them I can completely understand why they chose to eliminate them. With all that the moderators/owners do I think it's the least we can do is respect their decisions. That's my two cents worth. :001_smile:
  22. Welcome to the boards Vicki. There is a lot of information on here and if you don't find answers to questions you might have feel free to post a new one. I have found these boards to be very friendly and definitely enlightening!
  23. You have spectacular ideas and in my humble opinion it sounds like you have scheduled plenty. If you feel you need more the only thing I can think of is the apple bobbing alternative. We tie a string onto each apple stem and then tape that string to the top of a table. All the kids lay on their backs in a circle around the table and without using their hands have to "bob" for their apples with their mouths. It makes it so those children that don't want their faces in water can participate and an apple is a healthy snack in the middle of a party- not bad IMO! Good luck with your party. Sounds like fun!:001_smile:
  24. mine's up....a day at the duck ponds.
  25. I haven't used the curriculum you've mentioned but we have the kids say it daily as part of school. My dd5 and dd9 know all of it and it's meaning. My dd3 can say pieces of it. We didn't push it but more so just continued to say it until they picked up on it. HTH some.
