  1. I don't have the list, although you could try Dave Ramsey's site. I seem to remember something about this on there. But I recommend having the papers away from home just in case something were to happen when you weren't there. Maybe a safe-deposit box, or trade papers with a good friend? We also invested in a fire-safe for our home. It was about $20, and holds all of our passports, birthcertificates, and other important papers. HTH! :)
  2. These are really interesting to read! My 12yo ds- a youth minister, like his dad. My 11yo dd - a pet store owner, and a mom My 8yo ds - a racecar driving, game testing chef. Many varied interests!! Of course, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up!
  3. I know that others have done this. I received an email from a lady today, asking if I would consider homeschooling her child for about a month. I am considering it, but would like to know how to charge for this. Have any of you done this before, and if so, what did you charge? I assume the parents buy supplies and books also? TIA
  4. I haven't read every post, but I agree with what I have read so far... I will include: Talking baby talk to a child who is more than 6 - 12 months old. I have a SIL who still does this with her 3 and 7 year olds, then tells me she doesn't understand why the 3 year old can't speak well! HUH? Someone calling and ruining the surprise party you were planning for your dh~! My bil - just in general, he peeves me! Other people's kids coming over to my house and complaining about what I am serving for dinner! What? They weren't even invited to eat!! My Border Collie whining to go out to chase squirrels, then 2 minutes later, barking to come back in!! WOW - I have serious issues!
  5. The only thing I don't like about getting new books is waiting until I finish the old ones to start using them! I always love them, and want to "start the new year" right away!! I am ordering in May, when the tax rebate checks come, so for now I will have to live vicariously through you!! Have Fun!:D
  6. Yeah, I am not understanding...we don't do this. How, exactly, do you dual an egg?? Sound like something my boys (including dh) would love to do!! As for snowcones in NC, you should try Pelican's on HWY 401, between Garner and Fuquay. YUM,YUM!! :tongue_smilie:
  7. I love them!! Where do I get a pair - in size 9? good J-O-B! Have fun.
  8. Thanks - you have given me some things to think about. I really don't want this to be another "mommy's job" kind of thing!
  9. My dd really wants to get a pet rabbit. Since her cat ran off when we moved here, I am inclined to let her get one. I told her when she builds a hutch, she can get one! Now I feel the need to help her build the hutch! :001_huh: Any good hutch building ideas? Inexpensive would be great, and the rabbit will definitely be outside. Thanks all!
  10. Innie A little bit country or a little bit rock-n-roll?
  11. AAAWWW...but that's my daddy you are talking about!! :001_rolleyes: I've been telling him for YEARS not to do this!!
  12. I have always lived in central NC, always within a 20 mile radius. I would love to try living in Phoenix, or in the NC mountains!
  13. Do you all know of any homeschooling conferences, other than the NCHE Conference? I really need to go to one this year in order to plan for next year, but I don't know if I can swing the cost of the "biggie" in Winston-Salem. :001_huh: I am near Raleigh, so I can get just about anywhere in the state without too much trouble. Thanks all!! :Angel_anim:
  14. I have been a SAHM since my oldest was born almost 13 years ago. (ACK - how did that happen so quickly?!) That said, I do work part-time as the assistant to our church's music minister, but my time is VERY flexible, so I barely consider it working! I really think I will always be a SAHM, even if we don't have any more children. I don't really want to be tied to a job, and I like the flaxibilty of being able to accompany my dh on trips. Of course, I may change my mind when the kids are gone, and I am bored!! :bored:
  15. Hope I'm not too late... I love this recipe - put you pot roast in a crock pot with potatoes and carrots. Pour in one can of cheddar cheese soup, and one can of french onion soup. Cook all day, and YUM!! This makes the best gravy. You could also cook it in the oven at 350 (I believe!) Enjoy!:001_smile:
  16. :bigear: I just really want to know what this dude is all about? What's with the ears? :001_tt2: Very cute :willy_nilly: this is me today - we are getting ready for our Easter Musical at church, and as the music assistant, I am going to be very busy. Tonight is our last practice!!
  17. :iagree: ( I just wanted to play with the new smilies!!) I agree with you, except for Amanda. I agreed with Simon on that one - most of her words were so slurred, I couldn't understand her. But she hasn't been one of my favorites. I really like Jason and Brooke.
  18. At the store! ;) Sorry, I couldn't resist! We don't drink here, so we don't need to lock it up. Although there are times when I wish I had some for cooking - but not enough to go out and get it!
  19. Yes...and no. I really felt a call to homeschool when we originally started. I felt that the kiddos weren't "getting" what they needed. But at this point (6 years later), while our convictions are still as important, we have come to realize that the kids wouldn't have been able to spend any time with my dh over the last four years if they weren't at home during the day. He is a full-time seminary student, and worked nights. So it became evenmore important at that point. Now, I just can't imagine it any other way! :)
  20. Isn't it funny how even the results are (except for #1) at this point? HHMMM...I think a lesson needs to be taught on probability!!! We are looking forward to Spring Break with Dh next week!! :D
  21. We haven't had it here, and generally don't get it. I don't really take any special precautions, and we are certainly exposed to others. ??? Can't answer as to why we don't get it, but sure am thankful that we don't. ;)
  22. We do a basket of candy, and a book, but we give them on Saturday instead of Sunday. We reserve Sunday to really focus on the "meaning" of the day, and I really do not want that morning rushed with having to inspect a basket full of goodies first! So, Saturday for the basket and Sunday for the Resurrection!!
  23. thanks all for your prayers - it did go well today! I had to pay a fine, but the speed was reduced so that the ticket will not show up on my insurance, which was my real worry! thanks again!!
