  1. Aww...thanks for that! Actually, our mini. poo/JRT is fairly calm, considering she is only 11 months old. She definitely does not fit the typical breed profiles. I think we just got lucky with her! :) Our Border Collie, on the other hand, is a bit over the top. She is 4 years old, and has a squirrel fetish. She just cannot calm down once she spots one out in the yard. She really wears me out. However, I would never get rid of her just because she once warned us when we had a peeping tom at the house. She is my security system!
  2. Just for you, Cookie, and Mrs. Mungo! Sorry, I couldn't get all of the curriculum in there. I am way too eclectic. :tongue_smilie:
  3. If it were me, I would be shopping the clearance areas. Target usually has great prices on their clearance items, so maybe you could get something that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself! Have fun!:D
  4. We have had that mix in the past, and she was terrible! She bit three children who came into our house, with no provocation. However, we got her as an adult, and I think she learned to be terrified of children in her first home. We now have a Miniature Poodle/Jack Russel Terrier mix, and she is WONDERFUL!! I love this dog as much as our Border Collie. That, plus she doesn't shed and is tiny (5 lbs. at a year old) Sorry, I probably haven't helped much, huh?
  5. My dh keeps hinting about getting his doctorate. Which is fine with me, as long as all of our children have finished college first! :D That gives me about 14 years to prepare!
  6. We are Titus 2 Christian Academy. When we began homeschooling, I was doing a Bible study on Titus, and these verses really spoke to me. In NC we have to name and register our school, so I was looking for something that would look good on a diploma, as well as something that meant something to us. We have studied the passage in Titus together in the past, although it is probably time for a refresher course.
  7. My Dh took his last exam today!! We are officially finished with Seminary!!! Last year this time, I thought we would never finish. But it's over. Whew! What a ride!! Thank you for celebrating with me!! :hurray:
  8. :iagree: I am trying to keep in mind that this kid is only 17, and so any "awkward-ness" is from immaturity. The boy's voice is very good, and will continue to improve as he matures. I do worry about David Cook's voice. He seems to strain it, and I wonder if he will have problems with it when he starts performing every night.
  9. I love to teach, not only my children, but also within the church. I filled-in for my SS teacher this past Sunday, since he would be coming in late. I had a woman from the class email me to tell me that she thought that I was one of the best teachers she had had the opportunity to listen to. I have also had several folks from the class stop me to let me know how much they enjoyed the class! Now, I am off to do something menial in order to shrink my head size!! :001_smile:
  10. I don't know if you have ever read any Joel Rosenburg books - The Last Jihad, Ezekiel Option, The Copper Scroll, and (nonfiction) Epicenter- which cover the prophecy about these items. The books are based on biblical prophecy, and to speak about the rebuilding of the Temple, and about the artifacts being remade.
  11. I actually included Oprah because I would love to hear all these folks discuss their beliefs together. I am a Christian, and believe very strongly that there is only one way. (Ducking...no tomatoes, please!) So I think that having the various religious "leaders" - is that the right word? - in one room would be interesting conversation. How would they argue against The Truth? This MY OPINION here, I am not trying to offend. I actually think the conversation would not last very long! :D
  12. We used Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra this year for my 7th grader, and loved it! It is a great program that works well for various different learning styles. HTH
  13. I am thinking of only ordering the teacher's plan books from Sonlight. I really don't know how I could afford the entire curriculum. If you have done this, have you been able to find the readers needed at the library, or ebay, used book stores, etc.? I know this will take more of my time, but I want the best for my son, and I really think we would benefit from this curriculum. TIA!
  14. I don't ground mine, because to me this means that they stay home, which they do too much of already. I do restrict privledges for mine. No electronics is common.
  15. 1. Jesus 2. Mohammad 3. the Dalai Lama 4. Buddah 5. Oprah I would invite these folks just so that I could sit back and listen to the conversation. I think it would be interesting to witness. :001_smile:
  16. YAY!! Welcome baby Atticus!! I am so glad you are here! And I love the name!
  17. If it were me, I would probably remove myself and child from the activity. But I would make sure to first talk with someone in charge about your feelings, and why you are leaving. Maybe that would give them the chance to deal with the guy. I wouldn't want him to be able to just "move on" to another child, KWIM? This behavior would certainly have my radar going. It certainly seems a little odd and over the top.
  18. Instead of a big vacation, we will be going camping at a lake about 45 minutes away. On the other hand, we haven't been camping as a family since the oldest two were very young, so I am excited about it. :001_smile:
  19. I am 38 and my middle name is....Michelle!! But, as I stated earlier in the other name thread, I WANTED my name to be Jamie Lynn. So, I guess I really wanted to fit in!! :D
  20. I have the same hair. I have mine short, and "stacked" in the back. This makes it look like it has more body than it really does! :001_smile: http://www.short-hair-style.com/images/classic_short_hairstyle_05.jpg Hopefully this link will get you to the picture!
  21. My given name was Susan Michelle. Never loved it. My mom's first choice was Jamie Lynn, but dad talked her out of it. I so wish I was Jamie Lynn.
