  1. I'd think that your 11 y/o ds might be having some "special dreams" and maybe "new feelings" in certain body parts by now. If not, it's going to happen soon. It's time for a lttle chat with Dad or trusted male in his life.
  2. Aug '04 2nd grade Dec '05 1st grade They will both be 18 when they graduate.
  3. Can I say that I am glad I don't live in Cananda right now? (although we may move there to retire). My 2004 is in 2nd and my 2005 is in 1st. So happy they aren't the youngest in the class and I had the choice to not send my December baby when he wasn't ready.
  4. What??? Why were you there? and what did you see? I have such a facination, I need to know more, if you don't mind sharing.
  5. It's not just a Japanese thing, it's an Asian thing. It's known as the Asian Flush.
  6. You can't compare sports to academics. Parents have to have to option to do what they think is best for their child. It's not about fairness, because if a child is ready the parents have the option to send the child to K. If not, example, if the child is a late-blooming August boy, parents should have them option to give the child more time before starting their academic career. When if comes to kids, there shouldn't be a one sized fits all mentality. That would not be fair.
  7. :iagree: I think this is the case with most redshirt kids. Parents just want the best for their kids. If your child is ready to go to K at 5, that is great too. Options for parents are a good thing!
  8. That is so true about coastal So Cal in general. I hear women cut down other women all the time socially. It's awful. I honestly wonder how it would be if I lived in a town where this wasn't so prevalent.
  9. Ugh. I have a friend like this too. She always asks how I am doing, "how are YOUUUU?" It feels like I'm being interogated.
  10. When my son was in first the words started out like that for the first week of spelling. Once the evals were done the kids that were more advanced got a "challange" list with harder words like postpone, contest, gumdrop, ect. Hopefully that will be the case for your son's class, otherwise you are going to be doing a lot of afterschooling!
  11. Because I have seen good friends successfully raise more children after having one with severe special needs, I would do it. I would have more! It isn't an easy thing to do, but I've seen it done well.
  12. I go in spurts, because I do like to sort. I don't wash towels with clothes, and prefer to wash darks with darks and lights with lights. I also don't mix my clothes with the kids or DH's clothes. The main rule I go by that at least keeps the clean clothes where they should be is, I always fold and hang right out of the dryer. I never, ever fold and not put away. My son has allergies and I can't risk leaving his clothes, ect in a basket where the carpet/furniture/cat dander can touch the clean clothes. It keeps the wrinkles at bay as well! When you hang right out of the dryer, you don't get basket wrinkles.
  13. My boys were just playing with their green energy kit this morning. We don't have any other kits though.
  14. I had lunchmeat in a heated panini the other day and it was so good. It probably wasn't hot enough to be safe though. I have been pretty careful this pregnancy, due in Jan, but darn if that sandwich wasn't great. I felt a little guilty after too.
  15. I agree with you about the photos. They are funny, especially the rum one! My point wasn't that the photos aren't funny.
  16. Why fight with your SIL on FB? That's all I'm saying. The picture was funny, but attached to the homeschooling line, you were sure to offend. How is this a surprise to anyone?
  17. My oldes ds started 1st the same week he turned 7, and my youngest, about 4 months before he turned 7.
  18. My kids have gotten really good at taking care of our dogs. They feed them and walk them. It's great!
  19. Try pushing the AUX button when the mp3 player is plugged in.
  20. She made the joke on FB where many people who send their kids "back to school" would see it. I'm not saying the joke is a big deal, but I'm not surprised she offended someone, especially her SIL, who she knows well. Then the OP sunk to her level with that reply. I think the OP was out of line. I also think it's a horrible idea to fight on FB.
  21. Could it be sciatica? http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/guide/sciatica-symptoms
  22. I think you started it with that joke. When you replied you totally sunk to her level. You should apologize.
