  1. This is definitely not a typical feeling or way to behave. My dh said this is very disturbing indeed.
  2. That isn't a silly question...I should read threads more thoroughly  It is really good though. Maybe better for a dinner at your place than a potluck!
  3. I think the one we have on our Touch is called Big Oven. Check it out.:)
  4. I really liked this recipe. I think you could even add chicken for a more substantial meal. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/sunny-anderson/cheesy-mushroom-and-broccoli-casserole-recipe/index.html
  5. I love my serrated peeler. I also love my tomato slicer and my ice cream spade. The serrated peeler is made by Mario Batali which can be found at www.italiankitchen.com . The tomato slicer and ice cream spade can be found at http://www.lehmans.com (one of my favorite websites!)
  6. I would first go to a local college/university/art school. I am sure any young artist would love to show you his/her portfolio. You could also check local schools in your area...many art teachers are would be artists. That's a start anyway. Good luck and keep supporting artists!
  7. My husband took part in Civil Air Patrol growing up. He got to experience so many amazing things...survival training, physical challenges, search and rescue, teamwork, and obviously loads of aviation...etc. He looks back on it as one of the best times in his life. He also feels that it made him a better man...He is a wonderful man by the way, although I may be a little bias. :)
  8. My best guess is a Cicada/Locust in one of its phases. I am not sure though.
  9. I hate to say it, but you may have to strip it and refinish. Growing up I had one of these desks. It was my mother's pride and joy. Needless to say she had to refinish that desk 2 or 3 memorable times. She wasn't pleased with me. :glare:
  10. I love the idea of this! I hope that is just what they are doing! hehe:D
  11. When I was young I would sit at my mom's vanity area. I would just touch everything! The makeup, jewelry, accessories of any kind. It made me feel grown up, pretty, and important. I never wanted her to catch me, I didn't want to get in trouble or worse...be embarrassed. I would just simply take some time to go through your little treasure box with your kids. Maybe give your children a special box of their own..for their own little treasures.
  12. I just got back from the library and had to add another one to my "to read on vacation" list.... The Unit by Ninni Holmqvist it sounded too cool to pass up.
  13. Currently: My Life in France by Julia Child Your Best Birth by Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein Finished last month: Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates The Reader by Bernhard Schlink And I plan on rereading The Confederacy of the Dunces (one of my all time favorites) on an upcoming trip.
  14. http://www.powells.com, ebay, check out local bookstores that sell used books, your library's booksale.:)
  15. It must be a bad week for stoneware! The same just happened to my Mom's stoneware baking sheet! Her husband did the same thing and then dropped it. She was so stunned that after ten years of using it 3-5 times a week and talking about how it is never to go into the dishwasher and to be handled with care. She is devastated and pretty angry at his lapse. It was a luxury for her too. But I agree with King M. Get another one as soon as possible.
  16. Side pony tails with brightly colored scrunchies! Bright eye shadows...just go as Annie Lennox or Cyndi Lauper.;) (although both are still pretty relevant)
  17. I think there is nothing wrong with a little brow upkeep at this age, like other posters I remember time in my mom's lap...as she.... as gently as she could... tweezed my brows. :crying: (it was a little paingful at first) Only from the bottom and using some basic guidelines. I still have pretty thick brows, but they are under control and I like that they are more Audrey Hepburn instead of Greta Garbo!
  18. I really have to second The Self Sufficient Life and How to Live It by John Seymour. It is a book I take off my shelf daily...even if to daydream! I would also rec. Mother Earth News....everything from house plans, projects, gardening tips, canning, gray-water systems...etc The magazine is available but most of it can be accessed online at www.motherearthnews.com :)
  19. My parents have a Toyota Sequoia. There are just two of them, but it is great when we are all in town. Very roomy and the ride is smooth. Lots of attention to detail in terms of vents, temp controls, volume controls, drink holders, leg room, etc.
  20. I haven't read all the previous posts....this may have been said before, but I would ask your HOA why they are not allowing something that is an eco-friendly option to drying clothes. "Going Green" is everywhere and I think that not having an alternative is very odd (especially with those archaic views of line-drying). I have an indoor line that my DH made, we use it great deal and I also use my dryer, we don't have the outside space for a line, but if we did I would certainly use that option.
  21. I agree that Sponge Bob is not literature, but come on...bookstores want to sell books...bring people in, and make money. They have to bend to what is popular, apparently Sponge Bob is popular.
