  1. Yeah, that's crazy. It's like trying to fit your whole house into a walk-in closet! Why add more stress to your move? Grab another - BUT consider the expense and whether there might be something with the same space as 2 UBoxes, but more economical. I don't know if there is, but there may be something...at times like this I can be kind of "can't see the forest for the trees" and when I look back, I realize I could've done the same thing for less money by exploring a different option.
  2. I was going to recommend the Fiskars one as well. I've coveted that for a long time but our yard is just...well...not suitable. Everything Fiskars that I've ever had has been durable, and super-ergonomic. For instance, I have pruning shears by them that, as you squeeze them shut, the opposing handle rolls inward toward your hand. It's hard to explain, but details like that make unpleasant tasks much less effort. So I have faith that their reel mower is about as darned good as you're gonna get.
  3. Ugh, I'm sorry, praying for your DH. :grouphug:
  4. 5x8?? That seems REALLY small. Good grief - unless I'm misunderstanding your measurement, or it's 20 feet high, that's tiny. Just looked on their website. There's no way that's meant to put a whole house of belongings into, much less furniture. There's just no way! We priced one-way moving using ABF, moving from NJ (1800 SF house) to TN - they drop off the trailer, we pack. They bring the trailer to TN and drop it off, we unpack. Self-Move with U-Pack One 28-Foot Trailer NJ to TN Start loading on 12/20/2011 Est. transit time: 3 business days Door-to-door delivery Includes taxes, fuel, and free ramp $1,969 Optional Monthly Storage: $395
  5. My mother is a survivor, twice over, 20 and 25 years ago. She's healthy as a horse now, thank God. I know the fear; thank the Lord they're catching it now. Praying for your friend, for a speedy recovery and adjustment after the surgery. She's blessed to have your support.
  6. This is what we've done. For an adult, the dose is 100 mg of doxycycline once a day (if stomach upset, can get in two 50 mg doses). The creams are probably differin (adapalene) and/or cleocin (clindamycin). Once you get a dosage from doc, they're all available here (below) VERY reasonably priced. www.alldaychemist.com Asthmatics would do well also to check out the site; albuterol inhalers for $3.50. Flat $25 shipping fee no matter how much you order. My insurance copay is $35, so for that amount, I can get 3 inhalers, including shipping, for the price I'd pay for one here in the US. It gives you an indication how our healthcare system has botched up the cost of staying well. I have used the products at ADC many times, as have many friends (both online and IRL) with absolute success. I have never heard a complaint from a real person. FWIW
  7. The best vacuum we've ever had is the cheapest. There are also several other vacuum threads here. I swear by this one: http://www.amazon.com/Hoover-Widepath-Upright-Vacuum-U5140-900/dp/B0009ONZ8G Before we got it, we went through about a vacuum a year..."wind tunnel", "cyclone", "tornado", whatever, we tried them and to the curb they went. They just couldn't handle the dog hair and dirt. Going back to basics was the best move we've ever made; I think it's on its 4th year or so now.
  8. I like the Bakerella style. The others (i.e. from the pans) look to be no different from a little round cupcake IMO. A cake pop should be a confection! :) It makes a mess, yes. But oh...the results! We did them at Christmas time with colored white chocolate melties from Michael's, and gave a little cluster as gifties. They were very POPular. lol
  9. No advice but wanted to offer prayers and positive thoughts; we're in a bit different situation but are in foreclosure (though, we've given up and are letting them foreclose) and can sympathize with the fear and stress you must be going through. I'm sorry for the rough time you're facing and hope your bus sells!
  10. Congratulations! Stressful...good stress, but stress nonetheless.
  11. Water Bath: Applesauce Pickles Dilled Greenbeans and Carrots (they stay crispy and delicious!) (I've done blueberry and strawberry jam though they didn't jell properly - but I was using natural pectin from apples...they make a lovely pancake topping though.) Pressure Can: Chicken Chicken Stock Pork Greenbeans Bacon (controversial - not officially considered safe) Butter (controversial - not officially considered safe)
  12. We started with swallowing jello whole, then gummy vitamins, just to get used to swallowing things whole. The transition to pills was pretty easy once they weren't gagging anymore.
  13. If it passes the sniff test, it's good to go here. The can of crisco I have open in the cabinet expired in 2008; I don't use much - mainly to grease pans and season the cast iron. It's still fine.
  14. Love love love it. I bought a little squirt bottle last week. It cost me, like, $2.85 - and I got it two days later. We also enjoy the streaming video!
  15. Good luck. Gah, the battle between us and nature never ends, eh?
  16. I'd bet the airsoft would do the trick if you've got the inclination. It's up to you, of course; as for me, I'm not a fan of critters ruining my things, and am happy to give the benefit of the doubt once or twice, but that's real damage that's going to cost you.
  17. We have a houdini too - a big, dumb one - and he kept injuring himself squeezing out of his crate so we now clip the crate door shut with a couple of these (from home depot) in addition to the regular sliding latches. Good luck, and I hope yours returns home soon.
  18. Maybe you're looking for a more peaceful resolution but my pellet rifle would take care of him quickly and painlessly...
  19. Maybe that's where the expression "bird brain" comes from! :001_smile: For all the things they're smart about, this isn't one of them...
