  1. Does anyone have experience with this? I recently found out the practicum training session was cancelled due to low enrollment of essentials tutors. :( So now I need to set up webinar training. Any advice/ideas are greatly appreciated.
  2. Thanks. The Vitamix looks great, but a little out of my price range. I think I may have to choose 2 smaller items like maybe the Juiceman + blender/processor.
  3. Does such a combo exist? I am trying prepare meals with more whole ingredients, and I do not have a lot of space in my kitchen. So which one item will do many jobs? TIA
  4. Way to go! I have lost a car tire so far. I'm about to start week 3 of HCG phase 2 My goal is to lose an elephant's p_nis. Love the list. :)
  5. May I humbly suggest one of Adelaide's songs. She can check out YouTube for some clips. Tell your dd Break a leg!
  6. It will be more like summer into fall, if I'm lucky. :D Beauty for Truth's Sake Teach like Your Hair's on Fire Tending the Heart of Virtue Romancing the Ordinary Radical Choosing Gratitude
  7. Yes, this is what I thought. Originally I was told that the dvds would be purchased as a resource for our campus. Now I've learned that they will not be purchased because Classical Conversations does not "require" them  This will be my first year with CC as well as my first year as a tutor, so this change is really stressing me out. My budget for next year is more than maxed out at this point, but I really don't think I can properly teach the class without them. So off to check the For Sale boards!
  8. Hi, How crucial is it to have access to the IEW Dvds in order to tutor a CC Essentials class? I have never used IEW before so this will be totally new to me. Thanks for your help!
  9. Thank you for posting this. I will check them out as I am always looking for books my ds will enjoy.
  10. Yes! My kids love it. We do it a couple times per month.
  11. We will be having an informational meeting Tuesday, May 22nd at 7pm. Come and check it out! Moraine Valley Church 6300 W. 127th St Palos Heights, IL 60462 Room 102 Please contact Michele Wheaton at michelewheaton@gmail.com to RSVP or ask any questions. Thank you!
  12. We will be joining a new CC community in our area this fall, and we will not have a Challenge program our first year. I agree to check with the director as we have a similar situation (12yo student in foundations). After all isn't part of the reason for h'schooling to meet and challenge your children at their level? Good luck with your decision!
  13. I didn't either. We use Math U See. It takes each one separately. Although half way through the book for multiplication, my ds figured division out on his own.
  14. We are doing six weeks of school with one week off, and sometimes it is hard to get them back on track after just one week.
  15. They are part of a virtual homeschool convention that seems to be put together by the folks at a Well Planned Day. http://www.homeschoolconvention.com/hedua/something-big-is-coming-to-homeschooling/
  16. My ds9 always wants to wear his clothes as pjs. Sometimes he'll just put on pj pants and keep his t-shirt that he has worn all day, which I am sort of ok with. My dd loves to wear a fresh pair of pjs each night. I am trying to convince her that it is ok to wear them 2x :D
  17. We do not wear our rings. With Dh's job it is not practical, and my ring finger is too fat at the moment for me to wear it & not cut off my circulation :tongue_smilie: Working on that issue though so when it fits I will more than likely return to wearing it. :D
  18. For fourth grade is WWE 4 going to be enough? I am also planning to add written narrations in other subjects, so do I need to add anything else or can I call it good?
  19. :) This is exactly what I needed this week! We will be going into year 3 of hs'ing, and I just knew I needed to do something that was not "pre-planned" for me. Yet I was second guessing myself and the "everything in one box" idea kept calling my name  Thanks to all who have contributed to these threads. It has given me so much encouragement and many, many things to think about.
  20. I agree with letting her just decompress after her ps ordeal. If the library is an option, I'd just let her read some good books and maybe throw in some math review to keep up her skills over the summer. We have used worksheets from HM to review and supplement. Click on grade, then on leveled practice. http://www.eduplace.com/math/mw/ :grouphug: for her and her family.
  21. Thanks. I guess sometimes it pays to not be able to sleep.
  22. We haven't been doing a formal "calendar time" each day, but they do like to change out the weather info when it is drastically different. They also like to set up the new month with birthdays, field trips, holidays or other special events. Then they keep track of how many days until...whatever it is they're waiting for. I like that they have "taken over" the calendar and made it their own with no muss or fuss from me.
  23. We started K with AAS and a lot of good intentions. We are ending our year using OPGTR and the letter tiles from AAS for some of the word games in OPGTR. I plan to continue with this when we start 1st grade in August, and use AAS as intended when my dd is ready.
