  1. We are using this one from cbd. It has months, days, seasons, today, tomorrow, yesterday, & weather. http://www.christianbook.com/bilingual-calendar-pocket-chart/pd/763746
  2. I hear what you're saying. We just started school for this year so I don't know how easy this is going to be. I have MFW Adventures and I am adding SL readers, some of the RAs for my 3rd grader and some SL P4/5 books for my k'er. I am only using the MFW guide. I chose the SL items from the old catalog, then found them used. Would love to hear if any one has had success combining.
  3. My oldest is 20; he was never homeschooled. Next up is my ds8 and then my dd5 :)
  4. My dd has completed the first 10 lessons and answered the first quiz correctly. It won't allow her to move to the next lesson/map. It just keeps going back to the quiz  Has anyone had this happen? I'm sure there is a simple solution, but I am just not seeing it.
  5. Year 2 starts tomorrow! I think (hope) I am ready :) We are starting light and adding more in gradually. Good luck to everyone.
  6. We are also interested in taking the living math leap. I just want to do it slowly. My 3rd grader and K'er are using MUS and along side it I plan on using: Family Math, Marilyn Burns Math and Literature, Math by all Means Multiplication and Life of Fred Elementary (can't wait to see these), along with books from the library. I will try to incorporate 2-3 living math lessons each week and gradually add more as we go along. MUS is the only "text book" we still have...but I am not ready to let it go completely just yet. I can't wait to hear from others who have more experience.
  7. I agree the science seems light. So yes, we will be adding Apologia Flying Creatures to MFW Adventures. I have one text book and one activity book. I can always print a simple version of a notebooking page for my Kindy girl if she is interested. Right now my plan is to do MFW science 1x per week and Apologia 2x per week.
  8. We will be starting K (along with 3rd grade) in just another week  The *plan* is to start with circle time - devotions, calendar, weather, some fun songs, and we will talk about a character trait. Attentiveness is first on the list. Then for K it's: Math Picture book(s) short break AAS/reading reflex games Handwriting practice Lots of play time, cutting/pasting, art projects, etc I will also *try* to have dd5 participate, at her level/attention span, in MFW Adventures History & Science with ds8. Since we are still newbies (year 2 of homeschooling) this could all change at any given moment :D
  9. The promo code should be to left of the name and address box on the back of the catalog. If not...send me a pm and I can give you my code.
  10. Yay! My dc love to look through/read Usborne books on their own too.
  11. My Mom has been gone 17 years. She would have been 67 this year; I am 47.
  12. I thought it would maybe be enough for some of the kids activites. I'm not sure I have the time to really push the selling. I was thinking I could just let the moms I see regularly at activities know and pass out the brochures. I didn't know you have to pay for them though.
  13. Has anyone tried to set up shop recently as an Avon Rep? If so, could you please share your experience? In this tight economy, does anyone still buy/use their products? Would I just be spinning my wheels? I'm looking for some way to earn a little money from home but definitely do not want friends and family to feel obligated to buy. I would keep it low pressure. I know the start-up cost is minimal, and I'm told you receive a lot of support to get started. Thanks for any advice or suggestions! :)
  14. :bigear: This looks really interesting. Anyone have experience with it?
  15. We will continue with WWE2 this year, and I am adding PLL. I've already decided to eliminate the day 2 copywork sentence from WWE. So the plan is to do each 3x per week. Perhaps alternating days? Not sure yet. I love CM methods too, so maybe that is why I want to try both. If the writing seems to be too much for ds, I will pare it down more or perhaps pick.just.one :001_smile:(so hard for me to do in any subject, with all the great choices). That said, I do want to try to stretch his writing a little more this year; he will be 3rd grade.
  16. This looks good. I think I have to add it to my list :D Hopefully I can be better about science this year.
  17. We're doing it this year with my ds in 3rd grade and my dd kindergarten. We're in Il. I do not know of anyone in my area using MFW, but I did join the MFW yahoo group for Adventures.
