  1. My 'little man' was born at 25 weeks, and we spent 7 months in the NICU. My prayers are with this young family. Here are some thoughts: Offer to do laundry, clean house, feed/walk dogs. Anything that needs to be done on a regular basis, but they don't have the time and energy to do now. Call - ask how baby is doing. Ask how parents/grandparents are doing. Listen. And do this over and over and over. She will need a safe place to talk. Like others have said, this is a HUGE roller coaster she is on - and with a baby born this early, it's for a long time. A journal and pen to write down thoughts/progress/ difficulties is helpful. Disposable cameras if they don't have digital. Gum - lots of gum. A blanket for mom and a book or two to read while she sits by her little one. Puzzle books. And I agree - food is always welcome! :)
  2. I think a 'foster mama' group is a great idea! Would love that. :)
  3. I have no idea how to sew. Oh I can put a button back on, and hand stitch a hem if I have to, but beyond that - nothing! My dd really wants to learn to sew, and so do I. My mil gave me a basic sewing machine but I have no idea what to do with it. I think I'd like to give dd some basic sewing stuff for Christmas so we could start the year off learning how to sew together. Thoughts? What do we need? Where do I start? Thanks for your advice. I'm truly clueless about this.
  4. What is the recipe for this? I'd love to try it. We love fresh bread around here.
  5. Is there a list somewhere of the books in wwe1? I bought the textbook with the idea of doing it on my own in the fall. I haven't read the whole thing yet - but I would love some more quality read-alouds that I could start over the summer. Anyone know where I could find a list?
  6. My dd is doing first grade work in grammar. We are progressing through OPGTR and have begun FLL, and she is doing really well. Is it too early to start a spelling program? What would work best with OPGTR, FLL and WWE (plan on starting that in the fall) - Rod & Staff or AAS? Any thoughts/suggestioins would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!! :)
  7. Does Memoria Press ever put their curriculum on sale? Need to order some items but if they will be on sale soon, I can wait. Thanks.
  8. There are so many options for a children's dictionary. What do you use? Do SWB or JW recommend a certain one? My dd just turned 6 and we are getting ready to ramp up our English/Language Arts study. Any suggestions? Thanks.
