  1. What a relief that is. Hope all the other reports are as positive.
  2. It's so good to see you again. Glad the job is going so well. Hope your back gets better soon. It's too bad the meds didn't work.
  3. I agree. Esp with what is bolded. One of my daughter's is just too friendly and she was always feeding the bears in college. I had to tell her she needs tone down the sweet friendliness. It makes me sad that we have to teach our daughters to be the angry, reclusive, cat lady in order to live in peace.
  4. oh man, I would be worried too. Prayers that it is sorted out.
  5. hope the phone call goes well. Good luck
  6. I drink very occasionally. Perhaps 1x per month. My husband likes a glass of wine most nights as we're watching tv. A bottle a night sounds a bit excessive... if it's shared between two people, maybe that's only 2 glass per person or slightly more. See how much I know about wine! LOL.
  7. oh goodness. Sending you prayers as well as fighting orders. You can do this. hugs. If you need anything, send me a PM. I'm not terribly far and some days I'm very free all day.
  8. We didn't have a microwave for at least the first 15yrs of marriage. We had a toaster oven to heat things up and to make toasted cheese. We live in a house with a built in microwave. I use it about 2-3x per week - maybe to heat up leftovers. But, I don't use the toaster oven much anymore either.
  9. My dad hasn't remarried, but he was in a relationship before the 1yr anniversary of my mom's death. That was hard on us. It's not that we didn't want him to have companionship, but he kind of jumped without looking ;/ and it seemed too fast. Fortunately, that relationship broke down. Ironically, dad wanted to marry her ASAP, and SHE was against it. She'd been single for over 20yrs. I can't blame her. What my dad really wanted is a cook and housekeeper with benefits. He's now in another relationship. Again, his girlfriend (a widow too) doesn't want to remarry. But, this relationship seems much healthier. Most of the men I know who became widowed youngish (50-60s) seemed to marry quickly, except one friend. He's still wearing his wedding ring and weekly visiting his wive's grave over 2yrs later. Unfortunately, I know about 6-7 young widows (again, 50/60s). Only one just remarrried, and that after 6+yrs of widowhood.
  10. I used this in early spring and a few days later started pulling and chopping. I did it again sometime in May. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D0JHB5K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It worked, but didn't exactly kill to the root because it's all come back. We also had a very rainy spring/summer. I read in one of the reviews that it's best to do it toward the end of the season (now). I'll be doing it again in the next week.. and then once it dies (again) I'll start pulling. It's hard to get the stuff that is all the way up in trees down though. edited to add: yes, I did actually spray over into the neighbor's property.
  11. The privacy fence is so we can't hear/see the main road. It's not just because of the neighbors. We actually cant see much of their property because of the vines hanging down from the trees. ?
  12. That's a good idea about the gate. The thing is the vines are all the way up in trees and pulling them down. It's not just weeds and overgrown grass. This somewhat of an exaggeration, but something similar to this problem. Mine's not all kudzo but it's also there. https://www.treehugger.com/natural-sciences/invasive-plant-swallowing-us-rate-50000-baseball-fields-year.html
  13. That is one possibility I have considered. It would work okay, except for the hassle factor (getting around to that part of the property.).
  14. Help me think out loud. We've been fighting a losing battle against overgrown weeds and vines on our back property line. Both the house behind us and the previous owner of our house just let it go to seed. I want to put in a privacy fence for several reasons. I've been trying my hardest to keep the weeds and vines at bay, but once summer hit I just couldn't tackle it anymore. Once again the weight of vines and weeds have pulled down the rusting old wire mesh fence and the dog was getting out. The house behind us is on a main road, so I want the dog to be safe. My plan is/was to take out the wire mesh fence, clean up all the vines/weeds on our side and put in a 6 foot privacy fence. But, now I'm realizing that I can't just go up to the edge of our property line because of the tangle of weeds and vines on both sides. If I put up a privacy fence and the neighbors just continue as usual, won't that ruin my fence? Oh, the neighbors behind us are renters. I hear the owner sometimes sleeps over there in the room above the garage. I don't know what's going on really. It's pretty run down house, with lots of items all over the yard (from old chairs and lawn furniture to big tractors) There's about 4-5 college-aged men with just about as many dogs. Has anyone had a privacy fence where the adjoining property was not kept up?
  15. oh my goodness. I hope it's just him being dramatic. Hugs.
  16. I agree. Her "To Say Nothing of the Dog" is pretty fun and funny.
  17. Castor oil for eyelash (and eyebrow) growth. It seems to work and is way less expensive than the serums you can buy specifically for this. I just put some along the eyelash line with a q-tip. I also follow Angie at Hot& Flashy. She has a great 4-5 part series about different anti-aging ingredients. She's been very helpful about skincare. Her channel is where I started out.I also have hooded eyes and was looking for non-surgical solutions. It kind of morphed into skincare stuff too. If you look at her transformation from 2014 to today it's pretty amazing - esp. her hooded eyes. I also like Glitzy Fritzy - she's where I found out about Mad Hippie. AnnieP MakeUP and More ILuvFaces - Dr. Dray - she's a derm... but I don't follow everything she says. But, I do learn a lot from her review videos. I watch several others, but these are my favorites right now. If you ever get interested in microcurrent I've done some research on that too ?
  18. For light and fun: The Very First Damned Thing by Jodi Taylor The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax by Dorothy Gillman The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde The Other Side of the Dale by Gervaise Phinn (may be hard to find, but so worth it). Any Wooster and Jeeves by Wodehouse
  19. I'm just seeing this. You must be so concerned. So glad he's in a safe place. lots of hugs
  20. In Aug. I started following a few "mature" women's beauty blogs as well as another one by a dermatologist. I'm still working through a lot of stuff and trying to figure out what works best for me without spending a small fortune on mistakes. I'm learning so much though. Morning: Wash with Cerave gentle cleanser C+E+Ferulic Acid (although I'm probably changing this) Skin Deva 20% Argireline+ Matrixyl 3000+HA (sometimes I'll skip this) Mad Hippie eye cream Paula's Choice tinted moisturizer or Aveena's tinted BB Cream (both have spf) Evening: Wash makeup off if wearing then use Cerave cleanser again Castor Oil on my eyelashes (It' seems to be making a difference. yay!) Avene RetrinAL if I remember or 2x per week Retin A .05% Mad Hippie eye cream Mad Hippie Antioxidant Oil (I'm loving this stuff but it's new to me - it smells divine. I hear great things about their Vit C serum so I may change to this). Skin Deva 20% Argireline+Matrixyl 3000+HA Cerave PM moisturizer. I may switch some things up when the weather gets cold and my skin is drier.
