I took this week off too..... back again next week.

We used Ikea cabinets in our old house when making a basement apartment for my parents. They were nicer than my cabinets upstairs and held up very nicely. I'm planning on putting Ikea cabinets in here at our new house within the next year or so.

oh, I agree... it's all very bad. I was speaking about how it even happened in the first place. Someone made a call.

This is local to me too... and hearing on the news that is the first thing I thought. I suspect there's some busy-body neighbor (or a neighbor who doesn't like the family or something) and there's more behind this story than what is in the news. It just seems fishy.... I seriously doubt these are the only kids in this area walking around . My son's school, which is not far from this area, also has kids walking to the Metro or taking the bus to go home. Those poor kids and those poor parents... what a nightmare.

While I'm not a fan, I am surprised that Harry Potter isn't on the list. Also, I loved "The Little Prince" - but is that really a Children's book? And I wouldn't put "The Wizard of Earthsea" in the 10 and under category either. I would add; Frog and Toad - love that series. What about Beverly Cleary's books - "Ramona" or "Henry Huggins" and no Dr. Suess?? And, it being a BBC list I'm shocked that Beatrix Potter didn't make the list either.

I agree... I felt like it was less about homeschooling and more about trying to peg Christian families. I get that she was trying to be light and witty... but I was like "whatever." I chose not to vote.

No, unless you count the old guys with canes who are in charge of the candle stand near the front door as security :laugh: But, seriously, I've never been to a big or small church that had security - although I've never been to a mega-church for Sunday worship. However, my son is 13 and this has been Bar Mitzvah year... and at each of the synagogues there was security. I understand that there's a need, but it's a sad statement too.

we took our youngest at about that age. We all really enjoyed the visit and the tour. Make sure you allow enough time to enjoy the grounds around the house.

LOL - my dd agrees with you. She calls it bean paste. She's been spoiled because every summer she goes to an Arab Christian camp and eats yummy food.

no, there is no air in the bags and the meat is completely defrosted.

Can I refreeze unopened packages of beef that is shrink wrapped? What about other stuff... like fish in shrink wrap - uncooked, frozen? I can't believe this...and the next 4 days are super busy!!

oh yeah... the stories I could tell. I honestly think that meltdowns are the only way to get through...... and then they complain that we are naggy. :glare: We cannot win.
