  1. We have our sitter in twice per day to let our dog out, play with, and feed him. It's $13 per visit or $26 per day.
  2. An OB I used to visit was Dr. B-J. The irony was not lost.
  3. Signing in. :bigear: I love the idea of a secular CC.
  4. Hmm. Well, I just showed it to ds and he said, "that's right up my alley." On the list it goes.
  5. I love these books but am not willing to give up the other LA we do. Will it be too much? Will ds burn out? :tongue_smilie:
  6. Thanks! I just bookmarked a few things. I love it when homeschoolers share. No sense reinventing the wheel. :) I hope I can provide something of use as I go along in my journey.
  7. Those look awesome! Definitely adding them to my order.
  8. For SOTW I do copy. We don't do coloring pages so it is mainly aps and a few activities. I just got my new proclick, so I put them all together in a nice little book. :) We are only on FLL2, but by the looks of the level 3 workbook, I think we will be buying one for each kid. For WWE2 we use the pages for ds1. For the others I will just do it on lined paper, writing the copywork sentences myself.
  9. I already own levels 1-3 in the US Edition so I won't get Standards instead. I might switch from 4 up though.
  10. Mine didn't charge me the last two times, but I think it's $2 per spine.
  11. When you realize it is 5:30 and your house is a wreck and you have nothing prepared for dinner... ...except the gingerbread cookies that you made as part of the history lesson that day. (true story...happened today) :)
  12. I'd love an answer too. My boys are so rough...but only with each other. And they always have to be touching.
  13. Bummis Swimmis are my favorite. Cute and Velcro, so if baby does poop, you don't have to pull sludge down their legs.
  14. Just chiming in here to add a little information about book buying at libraries. My husband manages our biggest county library here in the Phoenix area and he rarely has a say as to which books to order. There are departments of people, normally called "collection development," who take care of the ordering. It was the same at the ASU library and at the city library I worked at. The exception is when there is a special allocation of funds, such as from the Friends of the Library, to purchase books. Also, I did merchandising and displays at independent bookstores for over 10 years. When doing Banned displays, I did not choose books because they had rape scenes or other questionable plots to get people's undies in a twist. I picked books that I thought most people would think, 'why in the world is that banned?" That's the response we got from most people.
  15. We are in the middle of 2nd and K and use a lot of these (see my siggie :)). My ds5 is a young Ker and RSO Earth wasn't working out for him. I think it is a combination of him not being able to read and having a know-it-all big brother involved.
  16. Check out the Prufrock Press books. Ds8 is doing Primarily Logic and it covers analogies.
  17. Our county libraries offer sign up and tracking online. You just have to go in and pick up your prizes. The completion prize is a voucher for a free book that you order online. It gets delivered to your house. My kids love it. :)
  18. We have visited our naturopath with two children to have them desensitized via the NAET method. We swear by it.
  19. As long as you lanolize your wool properly, after a few pees (the original break-in), they shouldn't feel damp at all with normal use. I tell people to let baby wear the wool with nothing covering it for the first few pees to give the urine a chance to react with the lanolin to create the waterproof barrier. When they do stay damp or start to take on the smell of urine it's time to wash and lanolize. The ones you linked look nice. I have used wool with all 4 boys. I love wool! I can talk wool all day! And I worked in a cloth diaper shop for a few years. Let me know if you have more questions. :)
  20. I even hate to slow down for the weekends. We love time with dh, but the kids just seem much more well-behaved if they are engaged in mental activities in the morning. I try to stick to games and puzzles and sometimes experiments for fun.
