  1. A second vote for Traupman's dictionary. This is the dictionary that my daughter's Latin instructor recommends. My teen has been using it for four years of Latin and it has served her well. Regards, Kareni
  2. I had to chuckle at your subject line; it made me think of math timestables ... i.e., one times one is one through twelve times twelve is one hundred forty-four but all in Latin! Regards, Kareni
  3. SparkNotes: http://www.sparknotes.com/ and PinkMonkey: http://www.pinkmonkey.com/ Regards, Kareni
  4. Congratulations to your son and your family! Regards, Kareni
  5. I can't answer your question having no first hand experience with the World Lit syllabus; however, there is a Yahoo Hewitt group where questions are answered by one of the LL authors. Here's a link to that group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Hewitt_Homeschooling/ Regards, Kareni
  6. Hello Stacey, As others have answered Hewitt is a Christian company. However, most of the Lightning Literature courses are written from a secular perspective. There are a few that do have a Christian perspective. Regards, Kareni
  7. Lightning Literature from Hewitt. The highschool programs are one binder per semester plus four paperbacks. (I think that LLATL might add up to more poundage!) See this link for more information on Lightning Lit.: http://www.hewitthomeschooling.com/book/blight.asp Regards, Kareni
  8. The Bantam New College Latin & English Dictionary, Revised Edition by John Traupman. My teen has been using the earlier edition of this since Latin 1; she's now doing AP Latin and it still serves her well. It's hard to beat the price too. It's $5.99 at Amazon. Or buy it at your local bookstore and use your educator's discount! Here's the link to the Amazon listing: http://www.amazon.com/Bantam-College-English-Dictionary-Revised/dp/055359012X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208739039&sr=1-1 Regards, Kareni
  9. My teen also loved it. In fact, she loved it so much that she ended up reading about six of the sequels! Regards, Kareni
  10. Gwen, So glad to hear that things are going well for your daughter as regards her diabetes care. And congratulations to your son for having made his decision. How exciting! I think your audience tonight will benefit from all your hard won expertise. I'd love to hear your talk too. Regards, Kareni
  11. however, two subjects that I think would be better dealt with continuously are math and foreign languages. I do think the idea of concentrating on one or two other subjects at a time could add some enthusiasm and variety to the schedule. Regards, Kareni
  12. Likely summer events for my current 11th grader ... Summer reading assignments for a couple of AP classes, Working on essays on the Common Application for next year's collegeapplications (wow!), Researching colleges, Possibly a language course (mention has been made of Arabic), and A summer job Regards, Kareni

  15. Here's a link to my question on the Admissions Advice board: http://admissionsadvice.mywowbb.com/forum11/1854.html The moderator there gave this link: https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/PXRemotePartInstitutionServlet/PXRemotePartInstitutionServlet.srv for schools that require the Profile. (Presumably all schools that require the Profile also require the FAFSA.) Regards, Kareni
