  1. Hi, Just thought other Lego Lovers in the SOTW 1 era would be interested in this sale. I bought it for my girls and traded all the guns they don't care for with my nephew. They had a whole end cap, we are in the Midwest. Pharaoh's Quest Scorpion Pyramid, it is still $80 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Pharaohs-Quest-Scorpion-Pyramid/dp/B004478GME/ref=sr_1_cc_3?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1326576239&sr=1-3-catcorr They also have the white erase pockets for worksheets in the $1 section.
  2. http://www.onlineg3.com/mod/page/view.php?id=3222#forums It is their "Discussion Forum," but it looks like the registration is closed for this school year. Sorry, I hadn't checked since fall when we registered. There was a few threads on G3 this fall if you want to read about it for next year.
  3. I don't know where you can view them for free, but we watch them on Discovery Streaming. We purchased a subscription through G3 including BrainPop and Brain Pop Jr. for about 60/ year. I think they have about 50 episodes!
  4. Mad Libs were 1.99. The retail must be $4.
  5. That was a bad, bad sale! One Small Square books were $4.50, Scrambled States $4, Lets Read and Find Out Science $3 and hardcover Come Look With Me Art books $8! And free shipping.
  6. I have just started reading Drawing with Children. I hope to start using it soon.
  7. One present my girls are getting is a Brock Magiscope (from ebay) and a set of new slides. My seven year old will also be getting a set of prismacolor colorpencils and a digital camera.
  8. Seriously, a person dies in a K'er or 1st grade math book named Butterflys?? We have just started on Apples and that may be as far as we get in the series although Buttereflys is on my shelf.
  9. I'm stalking you, ha! Was it something on Queens Homeschool? Copywork for girls or animal lovers?
  10. No advice, I only have three, but why can she not take the baby with her? 5 weeks for a three month old seems very long for both baby and mom.
  11. How do you view them? I don't see anywhere to login on the ipad app.
  12. Thanks. I have been wondering this as well. My dd is in 1st also, and has many reversals. Some that just pop up now and then, and some that are more often like 9, b, p.
  13. My girls have liked the short stories read by Jim Weiss. So far we have listened to Giants and the Fairy Tales one, he has many more. It seems like there is usually 3 or so stories per CD. We also have liked E.B. White books as he reads them himself (except I don't like Stuart Little for some reason). I wasn't exepcting to like Henry Huggins, but I did and my 7 yr old loved both we have listened too. We just finished My Side of the Mountain (she LOVED) and started Caddie Woodlawn. These two previous ones the 4 year old has not been as thrilled with. For times went we need something really short, we have some Magic School Bus and other picture books on CD. I am going to go check out the one you mentioned! Thanks.
  14. I have heard this/had this happen with Usborne. I think they also do have a replacement program, possibly where you pay for half of a new one? Maybe they would let you get the Library edition.
  15. I checked out your plans and they look great! I love BFSU, but it is a lot of work to put it all together. Thanks!
  16. We just started playing the games as well, so I will be listening. So far, my daughter loves "Go to the Dump" which is making sums of ten in a game like "Go Fish" It really does make math more fun for them! She tells everyone Right Start is her favorite part of school.
  17. Congrats! As a fellow adoptive mom, I think you have good advice for yourself! Being flexible is key in adoption/homeschool and with mixing the two. Things rarely go as planned in either, especially international adoption.
  18. I am going through WWE1 with my daughter who just turned 7 and is in first grade. For the first week we did the copywork/narration on 4 different days, but she is able to do the copy work and narration on 1 day instead of 2. Is this ok? (I am scribing her narration.) If we do the work in 2 days instead of 4, then we have extra time in our week. Should we do more WWE1 in the week and finish early this year, or add another writing program to slow it down? If we finish WWE1 early, would WWE2 be too hard for her at 7.5? Edited to add, she loves creative writing, hates the copy work, but will write her own little books in her free time. So, if I did add in another writing aspect, what could it be? Journaling on her own? Another curriculum? Just make sure she has free writing time?
  19. :iagree: This would be something my daughter would do.
  20. Hi, I had originally considered purchasing the Brock Magiscope. But now I am considering a scope that you don't need to change lenses of you want a higher power. Does anyone have a stereo (binocular) scope they would recommend? We are also hoping for it to have an optional battery power. Is LED the best light for small kids? We have chosen stereo because we have 3 small kids that will want to look at actual objects in addition to slides. I am just learning microscope lingo, so forgive me (or have a chuckle) at any of my ignorance on the topic. This is one we are thinking of, there are many different powers and I am not sure which to get. Amscope.com http://store.amscope.com/se305r-pz-led.html Also, here is an Omano http://www.microscope.com/best-value-omano-om13l-portable-stereo-microscope-case-p-133.html
  21. How does everyone here erase them? My daughter drew a large picture on our easel the first day we had them. The picture was complete with a colored in sun, tree, dog etc. It took me sooo long to clean it off I got rid of the crayons. I thought my arm was going to fall off.
  22. Do those that have used Apologia Zoo 1, do you think that it would be worth the time to just do a read out loud through the book this year? This would be in addition to BFSU, so we wouldn't do lap booking or most of the experiments. My daughter is 7 and loves birds, bats and bugs (and any other nature). We would also probably skip most YE content, is there a lot in this volume?
  23. Craigslist, or if that doesn't work, try google images and print them out.
