  1. Quick Shine is my all time fav. wood floor cleaner. Everyone comments on my floor!
  2. Thanks for the book recommendation; I ordered it from the library.
  3. Thanks for all the kind words about my son. :blushing: You guys really have me worried about helping anyone now! It never occurred to me that someone would do that as a scam. I am already very wary about "homeless panhandlers" because of an expose done on our local news. They followed 10 panhandlers for a week and recorded all of their moves. All but 1 went to a middle class neighborhood and they made enough to make $40,000 a year, tax free!! I am glad to know that this lady was most likely a nut and that most people aren't that rude. I have to admit I am tempted to do it to a bunch of people and see how they react now.
  4. I forgot to mention that as she was walking away he said to me, "I guess she thought I was trying to buy her vote."
  5. I hesitate to post it because I don't want people tearing apart my kid, so please be kind: There was an elderly lady that could not buy all her groceries; she had to put several things back. She mentioned that she did not have enough money to the checker at least 5 times. (She was only buying things like toilet paper and food.) I did not want to embarrass her in front of all the others in line, my 5 kids and the checker, so as we were leaving I sent my oldest over to give her some money. She asked him why and he said that he felt that she needed it. She asked if he went to church and he said, "Yes." She asked him how much it was and he said that he didn't know. She kept guessing what church it was, never letting him speak, and then screamed at him that she did not want his money and that she was voting for Obama. She was yelling at me from quite a distance that she was voting for Obama, over and over as she walked away. (No, my son never said anything about Romney, Obama, politics or tried to proselytize her. :tongue_smilie:) She was in such a snit that she forgot her sweater and my son had to chase her down to give it to her. She barked, "Thank you, I would have never been able to afford to replace this." He held out the money once again and said, "Well, do you want this to help?" She yelled some more about Obama and stormed off. A simple, "No thank you," would have sufficed. :D
  6. My son tried to do his first "act of kindness" today and it went horribly wrong! (He has done many kind things in his life but hopefully you understand what I mean.) Was it just his terrible luck or have other people had this happen?
  7. Thank you all for your quick responses, I knew the hive would help me out!
  8. No wonder I couldn't find the scripture!! Thank you!
  9. I have been searching for the New Testament scripture that talks about Isaiah being a normal man, like us, but still having an amazing prayer life. Anyone know? :bigear: Help!
  10. They don't sound behind to me. (If they are capable and you don't ramp it up soon, I do think you are shortchanging their future. If this is all they are capable of, it sounds fine.) If you are worried they are behind I would test them with the CAT and see what the numbers really are. I don't ever aim to teach writing like the public schools, but after Christmas of third grade, I have them write a paragraph a day until it is easy for them.
  11. A slenderman from Minecraft. It is similar to this one: http://www.sashasroots.com/photo_album.htm
  12. I contacted 3 tutors in my area and they were all $80-$100 for an hour. I found a new tutor who is working to receive her certification and she charges $50 at her house and $60 to come here for an hour and 15 minutes. My daughter has progressed wonderfully!
  13. Hi! I am looking for that classic that usually gets posted every year: The reason we teach Grammar . . . The reason we teach math . . . all related to God. Any other good Christian inspirational posts are welcome too. It is that time of year . . . :tongue_smilie:
  14. I tried tons of stuff over the years including prescription progesterone. Vitex has been a miracle cure for me! It is just one pill a day, all month long. It costs almost nothing too! An MD is the one that told me about it. :grouphug:
  15. :iagree: Either way, I still recommend a thorough sex ed program from the physiology side and frank talks about p@rn, boundaries with others and waiting a long time to open those doors. I still highly recommend the Passport to Purity products. They are not quite as archaic as the name sounds. I didn't even want to look into it, based on the name, but it is the most complete balanced program I have found.
  16. I would get 2-3 estimates very quickly and then hand them to her as if she would be paying, with no discussion. Just, "Hey, here are the estimates on the van. Look them over," then walk away. If she balks at how much it is and brings up your insurance, I would offer to split the damage or have her pay for the deductible, which ever is more. :grouphug:
  17. :grouphug: Passport to Purity is a great program for "the talk", it also includes a lot about why kids should wait until older to get involved with opposite sex and about the dangers of p*rn.
  18. Costco sent me a letter in the mail saying they knew I bought the product and giving the exact lot numbers. I already threw it away though.
  19. This is the first time we have ever eaten recalled PB. I always keep a few jars in the basement pantry and rotate through so that if there is a recall we won't have eaten it. This time I ran out and even had the thought of waiting, but then thought that since Costco has never had a recall on PB, I would be safe . . . :banghead: Thankfully even the baby does not appear to have gotten sick. Hubby ate it even knowing it was recalled :ack2: and is still okay.
  20. I doubt it will be a big deal. One of my best friends was recently 9 months pregnant. I said something about her having the baby soon and my 8 year old said, "Mrs. X is pregnant?" She was huge! A family member of ours lied about her due date and went into labor and had a "premature" baby. The only problem was that the baby that was 2 months early was 10 lbs! ;) She had more explaining to do for the lie than she did getting pregnant out of wedlock. :tongue_smilie:
  21. I have only ever seen one for a high school football team. I thought it was really strange and wondered what it was. I am in CO.
  22. It is a long shot, but I have found that calcium causes panic attacks in me! I eat no dairy and have to watch the amount of foods that have calcium in them. :grouphug:
  23. :001_huh: I guess I would say something like, "Do you think your daughters' anxiety is related to how you analyze and criticize them, like you do me?"
