What internet filters are out there that protect kids from innocently accessing porn and that will send me a list of websites visited from all of our PCs, MACs, Iphones, Ipods and Ipads. I have a MAC, but we have all the other devices listed too. I am not worried about my kids intentionally accessing anything, but some safety might be a good thing. I don't want something where I have to unlock every website though.

I just got my 8yo with dyslexia an ipad. I was looking at different to do lists and can't decide. I saw one called Habitmaster that looks great. Anyone have one their kids use and they love? Most look way too complicated for kids and mine don't need a calendar, just a reminder list.

I generally try and fail. I remember one Christmas that we tried to buy non China made toys. :glare: The only one I have not given in on is Pepsi products. It sure has been hard though as I hate Coke. I just found out that the ban on Pepsi was lifted a few months ago, so thanks for this thread. :hurray: I still don't know if I can drink it w/o gagging though. I agree it would be next to impossible to live in this world and boycott everything that supports something you don't agree with. I generally will try to shop there as little as possible, but not make a big deal out of it: Wal-MArt, Starbucks . . . I did not know about Nestle, sounds really bad . . .

Could it be the BCP? They make me very sick. I have been having similar symptoms and I think I just figured out that it has been poor sleep. I have been taking 5HTP before bed because of insomnia for 9 years. I have not had insomnia in a long time and was sleeping 10 hours a night, so I quit taking it. Now I sleep 8, but I think it is a very light sleep. I just started taking 5HTP 3 nights ago and so far so good.

If he was perfectly fine last night and is now whooping not right after a cough, it sounds more like asthma and he should be seen right away. Google videos of stridor and see if that is more what it sounds like. Check the skin around his ribs and collar bone and see if they are sucking in with each breath. That is called retractions. :grouphug:

Sorry, I am not familiar with NC law. I live in another state and we have dozens of public school programs for homeschoolers.

We received a similar letter but it did not ask us to indentify ourselves in our response and it primarily asked what kind of services/programs we would be interested in receiving from the school district. They said they wanted to help us achieve our goals. I felt our letter was more genuine. I find it really odd that they are specifically asking for you to identify yourself and tell why you are homeschooling, but not asking how they can help you.

If you use your equity to pay off debt, I don't see how you will recover the 20% down payment in a year. I imagine you will be renting for a lot longer. On the upside, if you are willing to move out of the area, you will be ready to go to a job anywhere, as long as you are renting month to month.

My son and daughter started out 2 years behind grade level, and 3 years later are still 2 years behind grade level. :crying: The first few levels are fantastic and I would not dream of using anything else, but at some point it shifts from being rules based to just memorizing. They ace the lists but spell similar words wrong. I started pulling words out of my kids writing and making a list. My oldest was doing Spelling City with them, then something happened that really embarrassed him regarding his spelling and he really started making an effort. He also started using spell check to help him figure out how to spell each word. He did not look at the suggestions until he tried a bunch of times to change the spelling. I noticed a huge improvement after that. I know that is not what everyone wants to hear. Sorry. :blushing: (My third born is using AAS 1 alongside the AAS readers, with her dyslexia tutor and it is going fantastic.)

I use safari too and this keeps happening. They even reappear from sites I haven't been to in years.

I hope you aren't talking about me. The whole thing sickens me. We left that denomination as fast as we could once we figured out what was going on.

In the families that I heard that practiced this, the husband saw everything as his duty and she never cared for the kids when he was around anyway. In fact, the wives would call the husband at work to ask every little question about how to care for the kids and what to buy for the house. In our church is was openly said from the pulpit: What is this your turn, my turn thing? (when talking about caring for or discipling the kids) Let me tell you men, it is always your turn and your responsibility, even when you are not there. The wives being disciplined was definitely whispered about and not talked about openly though. I never got the impression it was overtly sexual. It seemed to be a way of the wives trying to make themselves more holy. The women called their husbands, Lord, literally, instead of honey or dear.:ack2: I did read the blogs from above and they really seem like they are based in sexual play.
