  1. Is this Stephanie? I have no answers for you, but I wondered if this was who I thought it was.
  2. BBQ ribs, baked beans and corn. We follow a loose schedule: Mon: Mexican (not today because of the holiday Tues: Italian Wed: Chicken Thurs: Asian Fri: Pizza or grilling Sat/Sun: leftovers or whatever I want to cook I made a big list of all the things I know how to make in each category. Then I just pick one from each list each week and write it on my sheet on the fridge. Super easy. Like, since I know tomorrow is Italian night, I took a lasagna mac casserole out of the freezer (made a few a couple weeks ago) to thaw for supper tomorrow. And Wed. we will have chicken pot pie, so I have a bag of cooked, shredded chicken thawing as well.
  3. If there are rats in your jelly, yes, it is ruined.
  4. We've tried Sequential Spelling, A Reason for Spelling and All About Spelling. AAS wins, hands down. I love AAS!
  5. Nurses in our area make between 60 and 80K per year full time. I'd finish nursing and then look at being a nurse practitioner or CNM later.
  6. We're notebooking through Little House in the Big Woods. So far, Abigail has narrated the following to me: "Mary had a rag doll, but Laura only had a corndog doll" and "A rodent is a animal that gets runned over by a truck on the highway. Oh wait, that's roadkill."
  7. My son (12 now, 11 then) listened to them on audio book and really enjoyed them. We had some great conversations about it. His first thought after #1? "Oh my gosh, Mom! That was just like Rome! But we kind of do that now too. I mean, look at the movies!"
  8. Like I didn't *really* believe in ADHD until #4. Who is currently upstairs screaming at Daddy that his bad behavior is "because Mommy woke me up too early!" Then go the heck to sleep! And #6 is killing me. I have a 2nd and a 4th grader at home this year and she is into every freaking thing. 6 packed workboxes and Elmo? Whizzed through in 30 minutes. Oy.
  9. We got that a lot. And when we talk about adopting an HIV+ child or DS child we get it even more. But my kids LOVE having new siblings. They were so sad when I couldn't have more. And for every opportunity they miss out on, they gain a different one. I think my kids are learning valuable life lessons. And making friends (of their siblings) that will last a lifetime.
  10. People think I lost 20 lb. I only lost 2 kilos - one off each bOOK!
  11. They didn't remove the nipple, just moved it up. And the areola is MUCH smaller. I have the kind of anchor shaped scars (big scar in the crease with a line up to the nipple and around the nipple). I'm still in a small D, but they're still swollen, so we will see. Honestly, I'm big boned, so D is fine. I've been wearing one of those completely unsupportive Ahh bras and they actually stay up!
  12. Honestly, it's been a much longer recovery than I anticipated. My rightie looks fab. I mean, 20 yr old fabulous. The leftie is a mess. Got infected. Popped open last week and it now draining lots of goo. Surgeon said it was a hematoma/seroma and just to let it drain. I'm on day 12 of antibiotics with one more week left. But I'm happy that I did it and I think they will look great when I'm done!
  13. You can look on Pinterest as well. I've found a lot of great ideas on Pinterest. http://kidsactivitiesblog.com/activities-for-one-year-olds/ http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/blog/2012/02/teeny-tot-tuesday-workbox-ideas.html http://theprincessandthetot.blogspot.com/2012/01/whats-on-tray-finally-back-to-school.html http://thesnailstrail.blogspot.com/2009/12/2008-2011-prek-and-kinder.html
  14. Leah Claire will be two next month. She's all about the sorting. Right now she's sitting at her wee Ikea table next to me, sorting pompoms with big tweezers into an egg carton. She's happy as a clam. She really likes puzzles and these pegs: http://www.amazon.com/Lauri-Toys-Deluxe-Tall-Stacker-Pegboard/dp/B000F8TANU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1345563684&sr=8-2&keywords=lauri+pegs
  15. I posted this on facebook, but thought y'all might enjoy a good laugh at my expense as well. I had a hormone pellet implanted in my hip yesterday morning to help regulate things (my testosterone was only 6. Probably explains my tEA aversion as of late). I went to the boys' school to register them for K and 1st. While talking to Luke's teacher when I felt a damp feeling on my R hip. I looked down and realized there was blood everywhere. She started screaming and dragged me to the nurse. Nurse told me to drop my britches and I refused. So she taped a bunch of gauze to my shorts and sent me out the door, limping while I held pressure on my hip. NOT the first impression I wanted to make on his teachers. At all. And now I have 3 stitches in my rear. Nice. My doc said he had never seen such a thing.
  16. I don't think he blesses people when he makes them feel good without calling them to repentance. A crossless Christianity is not the Gospel.
  17. I loved my Diva cup. Did NOT love it when I pulled it out in the restroom at the water park. It was full and my fingers were all wrinkly from the pool and I DROPPED it. It bounced into another stall. The lady screamed really loud. I had to retrieve it with my foot. Looked like someone had been shot. Blood everywhere. So, so, so embarrassing. Oy. That said, I love Amaz Padz for mama cloth. http://hyenacart.com/stores/AmazPadz/ She has bamboo velour!
  18. I give my kids a laminated chart to keep beside them while they work. But they also do 15 minutes a day of Reflex Math.
  19. http://www.visionforum.com/news/blogs/doug/2012/08/10331/ Seriously. I will never, ever give another dime to VF. Only men can lead ANYWHERE? Good Lord.
