  1. Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking by Marcella Hazan Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child
  2. I like Ramona or Ramona Eloise for a girl and Berend for a boy.
  3. :iagree: I cringe when it is offered at a restaurant or someone's house. It truly grosses me out.
  4. Love this! Also, A Christmas Story, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, It's a Wonderful Life, A Muppet's Christmas Carol and Little House on the Prairie's Christmas at Plum Creek.
  5. Heard it was a 4.7. All my friends on fb felt it here where I live, but our family has not felt a one. Even people east of us felt it.
  6. :bigear: My husband would be great at this as well but doesn't know where to start.
  7. CLE Math and SOTW. My girls squeal when I say it is time for SOTW and mapwork! And I am sooo pleased with CLE Math. This has been a good year so far. I like everything I chose except for the science for my 3rd grader. I am hoping to start using the science from the Baltimore Curriculum Project. If I could just get it organized.:tongue_smilie:
  8. Can I just say, "Wow!" I could have written the EXACT same post. Not kidding. I am the oldest of four, the personal hygiene issue, struggle with mothering (esp. sitting down and playing with them), and I was the mother to my siblings as well as my mother. Never any physical or other kind of abuse, except neglect. The only difference was she just remarried once, though now divorced. But my mom and stepfather would smoke pot in front of us and even grew it in the house. :( At least it kept me from the desire to do drugs of any sort. You can say I rebeled against them. Feel free to PM me. I also feel like everything I do to be a good mother is more work than normal because I don't have a frame of reference. BTW, I have 3 girls too. :001_smile: And I am :bigear: as well.
  9. I completed C25K back in 2000, ran a 5k then quit shortly after. Well, 11 years later, I am starting again. I am now in week 4 and hope to run a 5k on Thanksgiving day. Thanks for the encouragement!!!
  10. I just started using Missus Smarty Pants and I love it!! She will show you how to dress for your body type and even give you specific ideas from different department stores. For example, two weeks ago all the samples for the week were from JCPenneys with links and then how to put it all together. You can buy a season at a time (3 months) which is only $9.99! I think she is very encouraging and embraces all body types. I have been frumpy for a long time and it has been so fun to shop again!
  11. I have heard that sheer tights are popular this year, mostly in black and brown. Of course, I think "sheer tights" is a fancy way of saying "pantyhose". :D
  12. :hurray: Just found my husband's birthday gift. He will love it!!
  13. I chose very bad but meant to pick bad. Oops! But, believe it or not, these forums have caused my attitude to improve towards public school. Before reading here, I would have chosed deplorable. I guess it was all the "homeschool kids being behind when they go back to school" threads that got me thinking that maybe public school is not so bad after all.
  14. Yes I have used it. I find it more useful in big metropolitan areas than in smaller cities.
  15. Yes I know the sound and am sad when they pass my house. I think I need to go place an order. :D
  16. I do have alone time in the afternoon during rest time but the time I NEED is in the morning before everyone wakes up. I wake up and walk out the door to exercise and come back an hour later ready to face the day. It is very difficult to be hit with the demands of the day right after waking up. I need time to get my thoughts and plans together for the day or I am a bear. :D
  17. Halo child here but wish I had been more of a risk taker. I was just too scared to do anything wrong. Plus my mom and stepdad were the ones breaking the rules and the law so I was just rebeling against them by being good. :D
  18. :iagree: I love my enamel Dutch oven! I also like it because it is pretty difficult to burn anything in one. Tonight I am going to try this in mine. :D
  19. I think that would be my oldest daughter's dream field trip! :D
  20. I chose neither. But since I have to provide meals somehow for my family and cannot afford to dine out all the time, I much prefer cooking over baking.
  21. Here are my favorites: Eleanor Elizabeth Natalie Olivia Rachel Sophia Ruth Emma Kate And, yes, the names of my daughters are included. :D
  22. My mom has been posting about it all day on facebook but I have kind of ignored it. :tongue_smilie: Not much help in what it is about or if there is anything to it. But now you have me curious.
  23. Great story!! Tears here as well and this quote will be up on our white board next week. :D
