  1. Strange, haven't heard a word. Will wait a few more days and email again.
  2. How long does it take for him to get back to you with some kind of acknowledgment of receipt of your order? I am biting at the bit, waiting to hear back from him. Maybe I am too spoiled by Amazon!! ;-) Does he send you a tracking number?
  3. I have both book and Kindle. The Kindle version answer pages did not line up perfectly. Sometimes they were a page or two off. So I prefer the book, only because of that. The extra flipping of a few pages.
  4. Yes, I agree. The BBLL2 videos are done with the actual pages. Much nicer. They weren't there last year when I purchased BBLL2, I didn't look for a while as we weren't ready for BBLL2 yet.
  5. We did Lively Latin 1 & 2, going to Latin Alive next year.
  6. I don't get rid of books. I Can Not !! I think I would get rid of about everything else, but books. ;-) No help here.
  7. Due to my sons age ( almost 9 ) we will do Latin Alive and work it at his pace after we finish BBOLL2. I can't wait to get to Wheelock's.
  8. For K we got Bob Books, Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading, Hand Writing Without Tears PK book, Miquon math with Cuisenaire Rods ( The wooden ones are best ). And read tons to them. Make it fun, keep it short. Playdoh, blocks, chalks, shapes, colors, just play !
  9. Welcome! I also started over. :-) My children are 27, 25, 22, 8 and 6. There are so many more exciting options now. I am sure you will have a blast researching.
  10. The suggestion for starting spelling is half way through OPGTR, but I personally don't see any issue with starting AAS earlier as long as they are reading at least 3 letter words. I did with both kids, and it caused no issues.

  12. I searched for a grandfather for 22 years. Everything I was told about him was wrong except his name, which was so very common. It seems now that the family split, as they lived just one state over, and never crosses paths again. I accidentally stumbled upon them. All I can say is good luck. I have lines, that names were butchered. The craziest one was when stepping off a boat a nickname was given for surname. Which made tracking here easy, but getting across the water not so much. Then it was just a dead end because of a fire in a church, where records are kept, in Sweden. Sigh
  13. We have a new bird !!! I saw it in a flash. Didn't get a picture, been watching for it to return most of the day. Maybe tomorrow. LOL Not sure what it is, resembled a mini Mockingbird, but had a tuft of hair like a Cardinal. Sooooooooooooo excited. LOL Jumping up and down, a new bird! A New Bird !! ETA: Maybe a Tuffed Titmouse ETA 2: It is a Black Crested Titmouse !!! Still no picture, but I got a real good look. ;-)
  14. Ruby Throated Hummingbirds, Baltimore Orioles, Golden Fronted woodpeckers, Black chinned hummingbirds, inca doves, red bellied woodpeckers, Mockingbirds, Painted Buntings, Cardinals, Rock Pigeons, White Wing Doves, love them everyone. We are always watching.
  15. Working through TWEM still, math refresher, and Latin and Spanish with the kids. Just keeping on keeping on.
  16. We pick and choose out outside activities. We swim all summer, and take swim lessons too, buying a yearly pass this year so we can lap swim in the off season. We rotate Aquarium yearly passes, with Science Museum and Botanical Gardens. We are not out of the house usually more than once every two weeks, except for swimming. I just can't afford it all, and outside classes in my area are more fun than educational.
  17. We have or are using Getting Started With Latin, Lively Latin 1, and Lively Latin 2. I am thrilled with our progress so far. All in classical pronunciation. I am not sure where we go from here yet. Latin book one and Latin Book two?? Linney's Latin Class?? Wheelocks?? I am just not sure. Need to make a decision soon. My goal is to have them reading original literature and expanding vocabulary. I am thrilled with our progress so far.
  18. I have a Kindle Key board, first and second generation Fires. Just ordered the new HD Fires for Christmas. We have had a few issues with the charger port, but the newer ones seem to be better than the first generation. I have had three replacements. Customer service is amazing, and they always send the new before we have to return the old. I have thought again and again about other options. But for the price, I just can't beat the Kindles. Now with front and rear facing, and printing option. I am just over the moon.
  19. YES !!!! I would purchase for the grand kids, even if we get to far ahead. ;-) I adore GSW series.
  20. My daughter works on her own, asking for help if she needs it. She does Life of Fred Also. We also have Math Mammoth on hand. I will let her go as far as she can, then slow down. We also use hands on stuff, especially with fractions. But math is her easy subject, she just loves it. She is very independent in most things. "An old soul "in a young body, we say. I have the old hard back, and the new version. Both are pretty much the same. Either would work, whatever is easier for you to get.
  21. If your son isn't bored to death doing the lessons in the beginning of a new book, then I say go for it. It is good review and nice to have a rest sometimes before moving on to new stuff. I have one child that fights the beginning of the book, if she can pass the tests through lesson 30 or 40 we start there, usually when I see new teaching. It really depends on the child. My daughter is using 5/4 in 1st grade. She will likely finish early next year. She also loves Life of Fred.
  22. There are 180 days in the average school year X 12 years for 1st through 12th = 2160 / 365 days in a year = 5.9 years to fully educate your child. BREATH !!! We do four days a week, and play hooky a lot. We still get it done. Take time to smell the roses, field trips, & etc. They are only young once. We have taken days, weeks, months, and even a whole year off when my mother was ill before she died. I attribute that one year with my mom to two of my children being in the medical field. We did nothing in the way of curriculum that whole year, the kids were 17, 16, and 15. It all worked out. It didn't harm them. Mistakes will be made, but you have plenty of time to fix them. Leap ahead, fall back, or even redo as needed. It is a marathon. The goal is life long love of learning.
  23. Well that solves it for me. We are doing Classical. Thank you.
  24. Thank you !! This helps a ton. Will give them a call.
  25. This will likely be a year or two from now. I am just wondering, and looking for the next thing. Likely I will end up with several next things, as I have before now. Hi, My name is Jana and I am a curriculum addict.
