  1. You aren't thinking of Beautiful Feet Guides are you? They were really popular in the 90's.
  2. My son went through 6 levels in just under 2 years. I as fine with it. He just did a pretest day one, explain any rules he didn't get intuitively, and dictation day two, then on to the next step. For missed words we pulled the cards and he reviewed them for a week. Spelling was very easy for him. My daughter is moving a bit slower with more review, so that makes the cost worth it.
  3. He has read D'Aularie's Greek Myths and Norse Myths. Also Classic Myths to read aloud. I think we will start with Bullfinch thanks
  4. What age for a non sensitive child to read them the first time? My son is really into mythology right now. I haven't read either in ages.
  5. When my youngest turned 15, I had another child, then another 2 years later. I am good for a while longer. ;-) I don't want to imagine, I have done this so long. LOL
  6. My Aunt was cooking dinner one night, we went over. As soon as we walked in the door she asked my mom how long it takes to cook corn on the cob? Mom said just a little while. Aunt reached for a fork and poked the corn saying, " I have been cooking these all day, and the middles still aren't soft !" I spewed my soda all over the kitchen.
  7. My mom's. My first year married she came to the house to help me with Thanksgiving dinner. After dinner was done, we all reached for some pie. Mom forgot to take the wax paper that lined the pies out. So we ate the filling, then removed the paper and ate the crusts. LOL My second Thanksgiving my turkey was almost still moving. Yeah, I forgot to turn the oven on.
  8. Not mine but my daughters. I was out working, and told her to start some ribs in the oven. She was 15. Anyway I told her to put tenderizer, salt and pepper on them, just a little water in the bottom, put tinfoil and put them in the oven. Later that night we got home and she had fried some potatoes, and made mac and cheese. Hubby took the first bite straight from the pan of ribs. Oh! We should have had a camera !! After he stopped spitting, and hacking we asked what she did. She reached for the McCormick's Tenderizer and it was empty. She put the whole thing on there. Poor ribs were definitely salted. We called for Pizza! Hubby didn't eat ribs till just this year, it took him 10 years to get over it. hehehe
  9. No it didn't just open, but time is getting short to sign up.

  12. Mechanical pencils, pens, three ring binders, tons of notebooks, glue, washable paints and markers, index cards, graph paper, construction paper. And anything else that catches my eye. I am out of a lot of stuff this year.
  13. Check out Educationunboxed.com and http://www.mathplayground.com/thinkingblocks.html
  14. I read the 1999 version from cover to cover, in 1999. I have the other two additions and spot read where we are.
  15. We adore the puddle jumper life jackets. My daughter spent two years in one, so I could teach her older brother to swim. Now she is the one learned. I have purchased 2 more as 3 of my little grand babies are coming for two weeks this summer, and I need to be able to keep an eye on all three. This is the only way I can do it. LOL Both of mine are still in swim lessons. We will also do Junior, and Regular Lifeguard classes. We are a family of very strong swimmers.
  16. We used Lively Latin, fell back to Getting Started With Latin, then returned to Lively Latin. Highly recommend both.
  17. I can see my son literally cringe every time someone thanks him today or on other Memorial Day's. He is alive, even though he lost friends in war, as a medic he lost a few. He has Veteran's Day. This day it to remember those who lost their lives for our freedom.
  18. My son is close, stationed at Camp Pendleton. living in Oceanside. He says it is close, but no evacuation yet.
  19. No you being a homeschoolers wasn't. But a homeschooler posted that it was a homeschooler from an online group she was in.
  20. Rosie I am so very sorry. I saw something posted yesterday, and watched the news report in tears. I knew it was a homeschooler but never thought it would be someone we all know from the forums. I wish there were some words I could say. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: ( FYI - Caravan is an Travel Trailer. I had to look it up. )
  21. They say Good only gives you what you can handle. Well I got more than I could handle starting at age five. I was fifteen before I figured out that I don't believe. I seriously kept trying. I am good with my path, and respect the choice of others no matter their path.
  22. I spend $2000 at income tax time, and usually $50 -$100 bi-weekly through the year, skipping major holiday months. Because of my son's lung health we buy new. They love reading and I have a major curriculum addiction. Edited for for auto correct.
  23. Personally no, I haven't heard of it. But it can happen. http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/conditions/adult/kidney_and_urinary_system_disorders/impotence_erectile_dysfunction_85,P01482/
  24. He just needs to be screened, at least blood tests. They can put him on a treadmill, but the only real test is a Heart Cath. Most won't schedule that unless there are other issues at his age such as high cholesterol, or family history. For my hubby the first sign was that his fingers would be really cold in winter and turn slightly bluish. For my mom, much older, it was her toes tingling constantly. Some have no warning at all. I wouldn't bet on a heart condition, but it does happen. There are many reasons, he just needs to talk to the doctor, and get some labs done at the very least. If my dad and step dad at 73 can still have a healthy love life, almost anyone can. You just have to be honest, and try new things. Isn't it amazing what can be done now. I just can't imagine what men went through with early ED, in the old days. I am sure there was much more depression. Can she schedule a consult with the doctor before he goes, to discuss her concerns for him. I know the HIPPA laws say the doctor can't tell her anything, but he can listen to her.
