  1. Ok..one more....I am grain free, bean free, sugar free of all sorts even coconut :-) I am alcohol, soy and nightshade free....BUT, I eat lots of fruit, veggies and dried fruit...and sweet potatoes, bananas etc to fuel my runs etc. I feel dead without them! But, I also eat lots of good fat...coconut oil, avocados, olive oil, ghee sometimes. I am mostly Whole 30/ auto immune paleo. I lost most of my weight this way without realizing it. I plan to stay this way, but wonder if I am sabotaging my efforts with my carbs up around 100-150 a day...hmmmmmm....
  2. I throw my chopped veggies into a gallon sized ziplock bag...add oil, salt and a couple of tablespoons of balsamic vinegar then roast on a cookie sheet. Dd an I fight over the Brussels sprouts!
  3. Ok... I have a question. Are any of you planning on eating lchf forever? Also, are any of you athletes who need to fuel their performance? I know I would not have gotten through this weekend without bananas, figs and sweet potatoes. So, how do you fuel your run or recover after lifting heavy without replacing your glycogen stores? I lost a lot of weight low carb/ moderate fat, but now that I am at goal weight are their health reasons to stay with this eating plan long term?
  4. Can you send her a grocery list or maybe pack some protein shakes? Or stop at a grocery for a " few things" once you get there? Can you offer to cook? Or bring your most needed stuff in a carry on bag? I am so hard for people to feed because I am grain, soy, dairy, sugar and nightshade free. Plus I have weird allergies. The best part of my diet is I have lost a ton of weight and my depression, fibromyalgia and hashimotos are all in remission!! I do not go off plan! Anyway, I have learned that I have to be clear about what I can and can not eat, say no to off plan food even if it annoys or offends someone, and always have some kind of back up eating plan. It is a pain in the butt, but the reward is me being healthy. Most people just really do not get it. They think I am choosing to be difficult when I am just trying to stay healthy. Most people also mean well, and feel they are caring for you by preparing yummy stuff. Keep in mind she was trying to show you love, then go get whatever food you need to make you happy, and maybe make some lo carb yumminess you sister and dad can enjoy. Try to have a great trip.
  5. Truth. And so would all these other guys too. They are in it for power, but they are in it for MONEY!!! I can guarantee, not one of them is driving a Chevette, or living in a mobile home!!
  6. Praying for peace as you wait and good results from the biopsy.
  7. I agree completely!! I have started my kids in Sotw in 3rd grade and it was great. They were ready. Any younger would not have worked for them.
  8. I have thought about this....sort of a memoir of living outside the box, homeschooling a bunch of real kids during real life etc.....but, I don't think I am ready yet. I am not cooked until my last 2 are finished....a good book would take way too much focus that I need to spend on my kids.... But, yeah...maybe my goal for 60!
  9. Oh...add 1/2 marathon to my list....week before my birthday and ds's 20th! New era or us both. :-)
  10. I am looking forward to it! I am in the best health physically, mentally and spiritually of my entire life. I am happy and strong for the first time. I like me for the first time! My fifties are going to be pure awesomeness! I have been waiting fr this my whole life! Bring it on!
  11. I think I am going to count back 50 days and do one nice thing for me each day. I need the practice!! Keep the ideas flowing though....50 is a lot and I am not sure I can come up with 50.....
  12. Underwater basket weaving??? That could work, except I hate being wet!!
  13. And I need to set some fun new goals for my life. Sort of a bucket list. But, turning 50 my creativity is sort of defunct. So, I am looking for some turning 50 themed fun things to do. Please share your ideas! Faithe
  14. Yep, and quite frankly, Debi Pearl is a much bigger nut job than her husband. I can understand his redneck ways just a bit, but HER???? Oh my LORD JESUS!!! Whacko does not even describe her!
  15. My fear exactly! I shudder to think about it.....
  16. I am wondering where they wish to limit their involvement. Is it in teaching or planning? When I pulled my kids from school years and years ago, I wanted lots of hand holding. Maybe that is their intention. They know they are not happy with what is happening in their ps, yet they are not sure how to go about putting together something better....
  17. I am still not sure that Ken Ham is in the same category....obnoxious, yes....dangerous?? Damaging?? Completely insane cult guru passing out kool aid?! Nah. Probably not. As far as Gothard stepping down? Damage done and someone else is probably ready to step right in. The whole story just makes me sick, sick, sick! And what would Michael Pearl step down from? His family and privately owned publishing company? He isn't going anywhere....just passing down his legacy for his kids to continue on. Ugh!
  18. I am coming to live by you!! I will fit right in as a Born again Messianic Christian wearing running clothes...always! Never know when a great run might strike!
  19. Tuesday got my 3.1 in under 30 minutes! (28.52). Or for me! Trying to get it down by 25 for some races this summer. If I could lose a few pounds, I might be able to get there! Wednesday I did barefoot class and then cycle. HR monitor logged 1100 calories burned! I am good with that :-) Going to try to get a run in this afternoon... If not, then later on this evening. Training is officially begun for spring races... Several 10ks in the plans along with a few obstacle mud runs in May. Must get busy at the playground as soon as this darn snow melts!!!
  20. You are such a bad@ss!! I wish we were closer so we could work out together!!
  21. Or never ever use again, but lo and behold....it is a good fit for one of your kids???? I'll go first.... I hated Saxon Math...loathed it! Blamed it for sucking the life and love of math out of my older kids. I wrote about it over and over.... Fast forward ahead....after 4 years of CLE, my 2 youngest boys hit a wall in math...and not only that, they had no retaining of facts AT ALL...we had done all the work, they just needed more and they needed to start at the start. Well, I remember that Saxon starts off every year with addition, subtraction, etc., as if the kid had never seen a math book, and does it with their proper grade level on the cover :-). UGH! My kids LOVE Saxon and thanked me with hugs and kisses for getting those books for them. ???? OY VEY!!!! So, I am willing to eat crow to get the job done....and will stick with it as long as they are learning. So, share your crow recipe!
  22. I am so bad, I still have a complete, unwatched IEW, because to me it is just a big fat teacher manual on video...haha! Oh gee! I also hate big, long intros and a million doo hickeys to cut out and assemble! I guess this is why CM is so attractive to me.....lol! Articles and teaching theory, somehow, I can read.... How can I get past this.? I guess I will have some summer reading ahead of me....
