  1. We have a very high efficiency gas boiler. It is not cheap, but is way cheaper than the oil we had before. We supplement with wood.
  2. Snow got in the way of my regular routine this week. Monday, I was snowed in. I ran 3.5 on the treadmill Tuesday, met my workout partner at the gym and lifted for an hour Wednesday, more snow. LOTS more snow!! Decided to wear my HR monitor while I shoveled just to get an idea of how much I burn and where my HR goes....I burned over 1100 Kcal in 2 hours!!!! Heart rate was similar to an easier paced run! Burn was almost identical! Amazing! Shoveling snow is an awesome aerobic workout that tones your core and arms as well, and I am sure all that squatting counted for something too!! Thursday: rest day! Friday: 1 hour cycle class And here I am at 6AM Saturday morning getting ready for boot camp! If I have anything left when it is over, I am going to put a few miles on the treadmill. Time to get ready for spring racing. GOAL: half marathon in June. Registered for 10 Ks in April and May, and a mud run in May as warm up races for June. We'll see how it goes.
  3. This just totally set my wheels rolling! The ol' kick in the @ss I needed to get moving forward again. Education Portal is a gold mine! Love!
  4. How about something from us underachievers??? I am already thinking about 11th grade and what I want to instill in dd before she is off and running! My dd is a bit of an oddball, and I love it! She hates competitive sports so I think we will stick to spin classes and yoga! She volunteers at the child care facility at my gym because she loves little kids and wanted some time to sit on the floor and play with toddlers. We will be doing some sort of Early Childhood Education. She helps a neighbor...rain, snow, sleet or shine with her mini farm taking care of goats and chickens. She gets paid with eggs! We will be studying up on hobby farms and other types of organic gardening, small scale agriculture, square foot gardening etc. She is doing the artwork for dd's boyfriend who is a game and app designer. Pretty amazing stuff! I think she may want to learn how to code and write her own games. For math, she is finishing up Algebra 1. YES, you read that right....no calculus, no advanced math...after Algebra 1 we will tackle geometry and maybe Algebra 2. Sorry, she is ready for this NOW. She wasn't ready before. For science, we will be doing natural history and nature studies. We will be organic gardening, helping our neighbor with bees, composting with worms, etc., etc., etc. In the winter, we will tackle Chemistry. For history, literature and English Studies ( the meat of our program) we will be covering World HX using the WTM 11th grade book lists. Read, discuss, debate, write, repeat. I am hoping dd can do a few classes at the CC this year...mainly foreign language ( maybe sign language????) and art classes I can not provide due to needing specific media easier to get in a classroom setting. Let's be real...my dd is not going to be an engineer or a brain surgeon...but she is driven and goal oriented. She is an extremely creative and an amazing artist. We are spending the next couple of years working on steering her goals and hearts desires into a career and vocation. She has always been a free spirit, and to bog her down with heavy academics would be detrimental to what SHE needs. She is an avid lover of literature, classic movies, art, poetry, music. She is a self taught guitarist and plays a mean ukulele.. Homeschooling for her has been freedom to be herself. She is teaching me to put away my expectations of what I think she SHOULD be studying, and focus on what she SHOULD be studying! I know there are things I left out, but this is the crux of my plan.
  5. Thursday was a rest day. Drive myself CRAZY! I did walk 3 miles with my BFF, But, man oh man, I was jumping out of my skin! Friday I work a full 10 hour day, but, got in my spin class and now I am up early for another. Skipping Bootcamp in lieu of spin with my favorite instructor. ( love the boot camp instructor too, but I get to sleep an extra hour for spin! ). Hoping to be able to run outside this weekend! It is finall above single digits! Hope I am not rained out!
  6. I am sort of guilty of all this. < hanging my head>. Lol! My oldest's name is Alysabeth. It is pronounced like Elizabeth with a S . But, my name Faithe...really does have an 'e' named by my bio mom whose name is Debbee...lol. I also have a Yorrick. :-) My youngest though is Sam. Just plain, old Sam. Just like my daddy.
  7. Barefoot and Cycle classes tonight. 2 hours of sweat fest! Home for dinner and piña coladas! Yum!
  8. Tuesday: 5 miles on the tread mill.?..56 minutes.
  9. And what do I need to implement it? He finished WWE. He is fine with narration, dictation and can finally write a decent paragraph! Yay!!!
  10. 2 hours of cycle and body weight/ weight training. Well, that felt good!
  11. Do you do full on or assisted pull ups?? I really want to start doing these, but don't know how to start. Any tips??
  12. Ugh! Today was supposed to be a run day. This morning was 5* outside, so headed to the gym...was supposed to meet my trainer and brf. ....found out later they both overslept....got to the gym and not a single treadmill was available. I ended up doing a barbell lift class, then did a yoga class which was packed wall to wall I left still wanting my run....but had to grocery shop....
  13. Cycle class Friday nite, I ducked out of boot camp this morning and am drinking coffee and surfing the net instead. I plan on running and maybe doing some weights this afternoon.....maybe. I don't like this cold weather....it is making me hungry and sluggish....(-3 ) this morning!
  14. < hugs>. I will share my white flag with you. I have announced UNCLE too. I don't miss the person I used to be...she was a drag. I am not too sure about this new one though. :-p
  15. Yes, I am completly different. I don't even remember that person from 10 years ago.
  16. Me either. I need coffee and to go to work. I hate going to work. I like working....I work hard....I just hate having a job even if it is working for my husband. He knows I hate my job and he is working hard to help me get out of there.
  17. I agree with Oh! And to add : My older kids all had " jobs" outside the home at 16. Some paid, some were voluntary....,ALL were educational where they learned skills for their future and looked great on resume's. No one flipped burgers. If they were going to go into food services, yes....that would be fine, but not for their goals. It is ok to do non-traditional schoolwork, bt I would not be changing up completely a 15 year olds expectations. They are sort of willy nilly unstable at that age.
  18. My dd. went from CLE 708 to TT Alg 1 seamlessly. Ds went from CLE 506 to Saxon 7/6 also seamlessly.
  19. I want to be you. Oh, I just go work out....it has great side effects besides relieving anger, aggression, stress, and anxiety. My @ss looks great too. ;-)
