  1. Thanks everyone! I appreciate the input. Now to choose...
  2. Ha! They do make them with cages! I was joking about that, but it is pretty great. I didn't realize. I'm thinking of the little indoor ones, but the one you linked to is very tempting too.
  3. Sounds unnecessarily exciting. :tongue_smilie: But I am getting desperate for some outlet for the energy. Any outlet. At all.
  4. I've decided to get a mini trampoline for the boys. At this very moment, I'm thinking one with a cage I could actually lock them in would be good. :tongue_smilie: jk. Kind of. Anyway, which one do you have/think is good? Thanks!
  5. Congratulations! Special birthday for a precious bundle!
  6. Awesome. I may get one for our dog. She doesn't get completely freaked out, but does get anxious during thunder storms and fireworks. And she sometimes has trouble calming down when we have guests. I'd been wondering if one of these would help.
  7. I've had lots of moles removed, two on my face. One left a scar above my lip, but it's less noticeable than the mole. The other was in the center of my chin, a blue mole, and that dr got it out without leaving any scar at all. Even looking closely, I can't see any hint of scarring.
  8. I frequently make Cuban sandwiches with leftover pork roast.
  9. :crying: We've been reading lots of those books lately.
  10. My guy was very protective of my son. He was nervous around people due to his background, but he'd get in between any stranger and his boy. The type of intelligence can be challenging, but it is the type I prefer too. You can play fun games, like hiding toys or treats in a paper bag or under a towel behind a chair. I didn't say "go get it" or anything. I just waited for the dog to figure it out.
  11. I've noticed a few pyr/lab crosses on petfinder in my area lately too, and was surprised. I haven't noticed the anatolian/lab yet, but maybe I missed them.
  12. What I did with our current dog was get her when I had a baby, so after every night nursing session, I took the puppy out. Not recommending this for everyone, though. ;) It may seem really rough at first, but your pup will be making it through the night before you know it.
  13. I had a rescued pyr/lab. Great dog. You will want one of those curry comb style brushes or better yet, the hand mitt version. That worked better for the shedding than any other comb or brush. Enjoy your pup!
  14. You can order silk long underwear from Land's End or L.L. Bean. They might even be on sale now that winter's nearly over.
  15. :iagree: Not having one is a problem. Having extra is not. One of my dogs ate a 6mo supply once. :glare:
  16. Good points. And I don't think even my 5yo could be expected to remember which side of a dog to run by if he was in the middle of zooming through the house being the Flash.
  17. Thanks all! We adopted our current dog when she and my younger were both about 15 weeks old - her birthday is the day before his. So the boys are used to being knocked down. ;) But she grew up with them, so she's used to little boy-ness. I have heard great things about boxers with kids. I guess I wonder if being blind in one eye would make it hard for him to avoid getting jumped. DH likes the looks and bio of this dog, but is hesitant, so we'll see. A trial week is a great idea! I will have to ask about this if DH agrees.
  18. If you had a 2.5yo boy, would you even consider adopting a 4-5yo boxer who is blind in one eye? According to the rescue, the dog is very patient and well mannered, but I know I'll fall in love if I meet him so trying to think very hard before that.
  19. I keep it at 67-68 in the daytime, 62-64 at night. Sometimes DH turns it up if he's up during the day.
