  1. My 5yo is the same way. Sometimes it's extremely frustrating. My sister was the same way, so he came by it honestly. I don't have any tips, but my mother suggests really large gumdrops. ;)
  2. I didn't know about this either. Although I have my very own geisha because one of the boys got her & didn't want her. After that I learned to check for skirts. How do exchange figures at Legoland? We have a membership, but I hadn't heard of this.
  3. We received some results from the biopsy. It is not the type of lung cancer we were hoping (not the right word, but you know) it would be. It is, in fact, lung cancer spread to the lungs. The chemo is much harsher. My mother goes to the doctor on Thursday to plan out her treatment. I am very saddened by this news, but we are not giving up yet. Continued prayers would be much appreciated.
  4. Nice! DS5 & I love catfish. My grandmother lives over in TN, and there's an awesome catfish place near her. We will be stopping to see her, but probably won't go to that catfish place so maybe we can find this one.
  5. We have one of those ice cream balls that you toss and roll and shake to make the ice cream. The instructions say it will work but take longer as you move farther away from heavy cream.
  6. The boys would love this! Thanks for all the input everyone!
  7. Wow! Thank you! I am so excited about these recipes! Hooray!
  8. We will be visiting Mammoth Cave in the next month or two, and I am trying to figure out lodging. Any recs? In the park or off site? Thanks!
  9. DS5 has requested that we eat foods from different countries each night for dinner. We've done/I have ideas for Cuba, Mexico, China, Thailand, India, Japan, Great Britain, France, Greece. Anyone have some other ideas? I'd be happy to hear ideas for France and Greece too, because I'm not 100% sold on my own. And of course if you have a wonderful idea for the other countries I listed, by all means share. Doesn't have to be simple, although simple is nice. And he doesn't prefer to eat food in creamy or cheesy sauces, so I'd like to avoid that. If there are threads about this already, could someone link them please? I couldn't find any but may have searched poorly. Thanks!
  10. Thank you all again. We will know biopsy results next week, although honestly, we all know the basic answer. What we are really waiting to find out is if the tumors respond to the chemo they plan to use, which might not be known until chemo starts. My brave mother has fought off breast cancer twice now. God willing, this will be fightable too.
  11. She has come out of the needle biopsy and is recovering. She will have a chest x-ray in a couple of hours, and if it looks ok she will go home. Then we wait for results, which is the truly scary part. Thank you all!
  12. My mother is going in for a lung biopsy tomorrow. Any and all prayers and positive thoughts would be much appreciated.
  13. In addition to lego, my 5yo will play with his little plastic army guys for ages. He also loves being left alone at the kitchen sink with beakers, test tubes, stir sticks, measuring spoons, etc, and baking soda, corn starch, corn meal, vinegar, other safe kitchen supplies, bits of found objects, and small vials of liquid watercolor. He would do experiments in the sink all day if I would let him.
  14. Absolutely! My sister will be defending her doctoral dissertation on Friday, and has just been accepted to Harvard and Johns Hopkins to get a second masters before her post-doc at NIH. She is a truly horrible speller. Just awful. But extremely intelligent and highly educated.
