  1. No. That said, I do have a graduate degree and find myself drawn to curricula that are produced by people with college degrees. It isn't something I automatically check for though.
  2. Subbing because I am looking into this as well.
  3. I've had to tell friend's kids that we don't read XYZ. This week is was the Warrior series. I don't usually go into detail, I just say "We've decided that XYZ books are not appropriate for our family right now." Usually that works, but sometimes I have a child really question me and I have to explain why we aren't reading the series. All that to say that I wouldn't be alarmed unless it happens again.
  4. Agreeing. I would go out on a limb and say *most* ERs are pretty decent.
  5. I am sorry for your experience. No ER in the US should be this bad. I would file a complaint at the minimum. I have been to a couple of different ERs and had wonderful experiences. Quick, kind service from caring doctor's and nurses. I also use a CNM for my babies, fwiw.
  6. Oh no! The ERs I have been too are all great. Out of the 10 hospitals in my area, I will only go to two, but those two are wonderful.
  7. Of course it is okay. I would still go. My concern is that a little bleeding can suddenly turn into a lot very quickly putting you at risk. There is also the risk of infection. Everything may be fine too. I would go tonight. Hugs.
  8. Yes, you need to go. I personally would go to the ER.
  9. It is very common in children with Cleft Palate. ETA: This is a nice link http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/svc/alpha/v/vpi/about/vpi.htm
  10. Is your child needing surgery for velopharyngeal incompetence?
  11. I would have a specialist in traumatic brain injury (TBI) see your child before I put him on any medication.
  12. If I had allowed it, I would have been pregnant every year. Fertility always returned around 5 months postpartum despite breastfeeding around the clock.
  13. I am not remotely concerned about a 16 and 18 year old teen being on their own. For *me* being away from home, from my life, for that long would not work. I would not be able to stand it.
  14. I don't have older kids, but I can't imagine being gone from my life that long. I also never had more than 2 weeks of help following the birth of a child, and usually closer to 10 days. I personally would not ever ask someone to go above and beyond like that. So... I don't know. Why does she need you that long? Is there some underlying problem?
  15. If my kids names were on here, *I* could be identified by people who know me IRL.
  16. I read those, I just don't see me teaching from a regular text with success. thanks!
  17. I just print out a calendar for each month from the internet and jot down 5 meals a week, leaving 1 to 2 days for leftovers. I buy the groceries needed each week for my meals, then choose each day which of those to have.
  18. This is great advice! Jane in NC, would you mind sharing what math curriculum you find to be good?
  19. Oooh -- I need to put want I want in a siggy line then! I'd respond to you, and even pay postage!
  20. If your husband isn't working, why doesn't he take the route?
