  1. To *me* it this isn't about the adult. It is about teaching my child proper manners. It would be like letting my child wear some of those awful pants with the name on the fanny or a revealing swim suit just because those clothes were a gift and the adult giver said those clothes were just fine. Does that make sense?
  2. I am going to have to figure out how to do a search and look up this person!
  3. Thanks! I am definitely not a he -- that should clear things up! I will keep my eyes peeled for pqr, we should get along famously. :)
  4. Oh, a who rather than a what. Gotcha! Well, I am pretty conservative, though I know lots of folks that are even more so. :)
  5. As I just posted upthread, I am guessing that someone that didn't want to be called that would likely have such a different set of beliefs/life attitude whatever you want to call it, that we would probably not be attracted to each other enough to become friends in the first place. ETA: If I had a dear friend that suddenly wanted to be called a different name I would have to figure out how to handle it.
  6. I am guessing ( I don't know for sure, of course) that someone that felt strongly against being called ma'am would not have very much in common with me all the way around. My children refer to adult by Mr./Mrs./Dr./Ms, Lastname as well, and as a family, we would be very uncomfortable around someone that insisted on children calling them by their first name. Similarly, how would you feel if I insisted your children call me by my last name and answered yes/no ma'am?
  7. Interesting. I guess if I had an acquaintance or friend that felt this way, we'd no longer be acquaintances or friends. Different strokes.
  8. It strikes me as funny that I don't know anyone that *doesn't* teach their kids this. Here is how it goes at our house. Mom: "Cy......: Cy: "Yes" Mom "Yes Ma'am" Cy : "Yes ma'am" Mom: "Please empty the top rack of the dishwasher." Cy: "ok" Mom: "Yes ma'am" You get the point :)
  9. Just to be clear --- the eardrum traps the fluid in the middle ear. You cannot get fluid out of the middle ear with q-tips, the eardrum is in the way. Oils and other drops in the ear cannot penetrate the eardrum and won't affect the level of the fluid trapped in the middle ear. The only way for the fluid to get out is through the Eustachian tube or a ruptured or pierced eardrum. When there is fluid/infection the Eustachian tube is swollen and blocked. Massage and/or chiropractic care can sometimes open the Eustachian tube enough to allow the fluid to drain and return the middle ear back to normal.
  10. I am anemic and take Floradix as well. Rainbow Light vitamins are the best out there, IMO. I take the one with iron and have taken the prenatal vitamin as well.
  11. Agreeing with MissMoe. When I buy a full used core, I pay half the cost of new plus shipping.
  12. Not here. I was in theatre and band all through school. The clothing, sexual innuendo, language and lack of modesty is just nasty on Glee.
  13. My 6 yo DD is taking piano lessons and we need to get her something to play on. We are not ready to get a full sized piano, so I am looking at 88 key digital pianos and keyboards. I am not a music person and I don't know what to look for. I am considering these: http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-YPG-535-Portable-Graded-Action-Keyboard/dp/B003F2X13I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302750764&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-YPG635-88-Key-Weighted-Portable/dp/B001D02914/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1302750837&sr=8-5 Can someone weigh in on which is better, or recommend something else. Thank you!
  14. Can you clarify a few things -- 1) define fuel efficient - some people that means better than 20 mpg, others feel that 30 mpg is fuel efficient 2) How many people total do you want the vehicle to seat?
  15. Before doing anything, I'd take him to the pediatrician to rule out a UTI.
  16. We call an SUV and SUV and a truck and a truck. We own both. I don't know why people call SUVs trucks. They clearly are not the same vehicles. It is like calling a minivan a golf cart.
