  1. Are we allowed to post Youtube links? (If not, someone let me know quick and I will remove it.) DH and I just watched this a couple of days ago. Sadly, it hit a little close to home.
  2. :blushing: I have no idea what some of these threads are about!! I log on to the WTM in the morning...I open a thread...I have no clue. Why does this keep happening? Why am I always in the dark????? :w00t:
  3. Have you ever considered asking your DH to handle this? This was my job for most of our married life, but when we moved 6 years ago I asked DH to please take it over. This really took a big load off of me, and it made a real difference. (I'm kind of a control freak, so this was hard at first. :D)
  4. Are you saying that kids in this same district that could once write real paragraphs in 2nd grade are now falling off the wagon in middle/high school? Or are you talking about the middle/high schoolers from that other thread? I'm curious to know how the middle/high schoolers are faring in this particular district. Have you worked with any children in the middle/high grades? What is their work like?
  5. I've known people where this has worked out just fine. But for us, I think it would be a matter of time before it destroyed our marriage. I wouldn't trade our marriage for any amount of money. If it were a serious job offer that DH would enjoy, we'd be putting the signs in the lawn today.
  6. Ok, this may be a dumb question, but do any of you burn wood (or have neighbors that burn wood) and dry your clothes outside? I line dry inside many of our nicer items of clothing, and would like to line dry sheets and blankets too. I've thought about putting up an outdoor clothes line especially for the sheets and blankets, but I was wondering if during the winter they would absorb the smoke smell?
  7. Down comforters for all beds. We are able lower the thermostat while sleeping, and we even sleep better. ;)
  8. I cannot comment on the ITBS, but I have given the Stanford 10 in a classroom type setting (a homeschool academy). The Stanford 10 is not a timed test, but they do give you a recommended time for each section. We tried to follow their time allotment to stay on schedule, but we could give students extra time if needed. Out of eight homeschool 4th graders this year, none had difficulty finishing within the recommend times. I've given this test (in the lower grades) for four years now with a class size ranging from around 8-10. Occasionally, a child would need a few extra minutes to finish a section, but it was never a real problem. Below is a link about the Stanford 10 and times: http://www.pearsonassessments.com/NR/rdonlyres/66363D00-01A0-422B-9673-E01A08436881/0/ItsAboutTime_UntimedTestingConditionsQandA_Rev3_Final.pdf
  9. I'm having trouble understanding. Why does he want to rent if it costs $7000 more for renting?
  10. I would use 3 of the sticks to make Caramel Puffed Corn.
  11. Here some things I've taken note of over the years: 1) If you use a keyboard make sure it is set to "piano". Here Comes the Bride played in "snare drum" will shock the bride. (But greatly amuse some quests.) 2) Make sure all dogs are tied up somewhere else. Guests do not want to see dogs under the cake table. (Hard to believe, but they are captured there forever in the pictures.) :D 3) Those cheap white plastic outdoor chairs might sound like a good idea a first. BUT, they are not good on uneven surfaces and are not sturdy enough for guests that are very large. I have also seen elderly guests almost fall as they tried to steady themselves while trying to sit or rise. 4) I saw this done once. (The reception was in a shelter house that had a roof, but open sides.) They decorated a mosquito netting canopy thing and hung it over the cake until it was time to eat it. It looked nice, kept the bugs off, and you could still see the cake. http://www.canopy-manufacturers.com/Kids-Mosquito-Nets-151.html
  12. Hello, :seeya: OP here. Sorry, been away at the tournament. We didn't do so well. DS however, played AWESOME!! Just in case you're wondering, I decided not to wear my shirt to the games. I'm going keep it though, but probably just run in it. If you see me go by be sure to wave, but I'll probably just be a big blur because I'm...you know... so FAST!!! Thanks to all who commented!
  13. I learned from Youtube. Our Chi iron did a much better job than our cheap iron from Walmart.
  14. This is the method my DH likes, and has had success with in the past. I thought it was inhumane. We went to clicker class instead. She still does not know how to heel.
  15. DH just loves me and wants me to be happy, and when I was complaining about having no cute summer things he was off to the store. (It just so happened he went to the running store.) I also got a couple of Patagonia skirts that I'd recently had my eye on. :D I love bright colors and usually don't mind words. I love this shirt, except for the "fast" part. I wish it was just the orange swoosh. He won't care if I want to take it back, he'll probably think I'm being silly, but it won't bother him. I am actually happy to have DH dress me. Unlike me, he NEVER feels it necessary to shop the clearance racks and he usually knows my tastes. We have to leave early tomorrow, so I was getting our clothes out tonight. When I checking the weather and pondering what to wear, he suggested my new Nike shirt. But seeing it hanging on the closet door, I started to worry, and thought I would ask the hive. I just do that, I worry about silly things.
  16. Just letting you know that it will probably itch for at least two weeks.
  17. Let's say, "hypothetically" that someone's DH bought it for them, and it is now hanging in their closet, and he wants them to wear it tomorrow to a little league game.
  18. I chose only when company comes over, but if they stay too long I don't even do it then.
  19. I need some opinions. Do you like this shirt? Would you wear it? Why or why not? http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11212258
