  1. We're not very far in WWS but this is what we do. As I correct his work, my son reads his sentences to me. Usually it is fine as is, but he does occasionally find something he would like to correct as he reads it to me.
  2. 5 ft 11 1/2 in, hubby is 6 ft 8 in. People like to comment that our kids will be on the basketball team. However I was born with no coordination, and they were blessed with my genes so their height will be used for other advantages.
  3. I've just started it last week and I plan to do about a lesson every 2 days. Easier ones will take one day and when we need extra practice we'll have time for a 3 day lesson or extra review at the end of a chapter. We will be able to finish it in a year at this pace.
  4. Love the ideas! I was just looking for the same sort of ideas. Thanks!
  5. Thank you to all the encouraging words on this thread. As a mom to 2 aspies I am finding a lot of comfort in this thread.
  6. Our 13 year old will be home part time for high school next year. This is his 1st time home and only my second year homeschooling. I am nervous but very excited!
  7. We're completing our 1st year and have been happy with: 1. WWE2 - really helped the transition from PS for my reluctant writer 2. Singapore Math 3. LOF Fractions 4. MCT Town
  8. Exciting! I love to hear that there are new discoveries concerning autism. Interesting article - thanks!
  9. This is a dangerous thread for a new homeschooler - I think I just requested 4 catalogs!
  10. I felt the same way when starting on Town this year. I joined the Yahoo MCT users group (MCTLA) and found some sample schedules posted in the files section. The schedule helped me feel a little more grounded and has worked well for us this year.
  11. Amazing resource - thanks for the link!
  12. Thanks for this info! I just emailed. We are considering TOG and I really wanted to check it out at convention.
  13. Interesting! I purchased my 1st edition in August 2010. It is copyright dated 2003.
  14. I have the 2nd and 1st edition Town Level. I haven't compared each page but the main updates I see are: 1. Color - The pictures have some color and color is used in the some writing and highlighting in the text. It is simple and doesn't distract. 2. Font - The font is new, again it seems cleaner and less distracting. They also use the italics less often and instead use color to emphasize words. 3. Some wording is changed. I noticed a few minor things, but the number of pages is the same so the content must not be significantly different in volume. 4. Table of contents - There is a table of contents in the student and teacher manuals. It is divided in the 4 - level analysis topics. 5. Comments and assignments - On nearly every two page spread there is at least one assignment (discussion or memorization) or a comment/explanation. The assignments are in a purple box, the comments are in a blue box. The student version does not have these boxes. As far as the shipping, the email did state the cost is $35 including shipping. Later it indicates the books are $30 and the shipping is $5. This is what I was charged. We love MCT and I think the updates with make it even more user friendly as my next child works through them.
