  1. Hi NittanyJen. I am thinking of having SM as my spine and supplement with Math Mammoth but since I'm a newbie I don't know how to go about it. Can I ask you to elaborate on this? (not meaning to hijack the thread but really interested to hear it!). BTW I have the US edition (essential math K) because my ds got easily distracted by all the colours in the Earlybird series and also because the US edition was readily available at my local used curriculum sale (the SE in the UK is insanely expensive).
  2. I had an emergency c-section. But it wasn't like that. OMG You are one BRAVE woman :grouphug: Glad Levi is all right. Please take care. Praying for you.
  3. I'm probably not the best to comment as I tend to buy in bulk (cheaper). Its 3 of us in a 44 m2 (but I don't count the bathroom and the entrance hall since no-one actually spends that much time in any of these two places. I have some texts books which I am holding on until next year's used curricullum sale (to make a bit of money). When I went to the UK I bought tons of clothes from Primark for ds because they are a lot cheaper than in the Gulf and they actually fit ds' built. However: I donated an old set of china we bought from an expat leaving, but the plates were square and huge, so I bought a smaller melamine set so ds can help set the table. I donate old toys and whatever clothes don't fit or don't use to the local charity shop. I also got into the habit of throwing bits and pieces because I used to keep them "in case I need them" (never could find the bits afterwards anyways!). What else? I get rid of things behind dh's back! :D He's never missed anything yet!
  4. I have white (as in snow white) hairs since I was 6yo. Nowadays I use a mix of henna and indigo to get medium brown. I add a teaspoon of salt to the mix to help the white get some colour. It works pretty well for a non-commercial dye.
  5. I finally got Startwrite. It downloaded and was up and running in like 5 minutes flat. Works great too. Thanks to everybody here for the advice and tips!
  6. I still like this planner, but I can't justify the money. DH has reminded me that this year I had to make many changes because of illness, moving house, etc. So maybe a excel file might be best. I tried homeschool, inc. It was all right until I found myself in a no wifi area :glare: I also realised I love the look of the planner so I intend to get some nice clip art from the internet and add it to my word documents :D -which I can edit as I go. I like the forms from donna young (can't get the cd as I don't live in the US).
  7. I've had many "duh" moments with ds -but he still can't get his shoes on withouht my help :001_huh::lol:
  8. Yes, the site is back. Big smile on my face. I hope the owner of the site, Maggie, is not feeling battered bu our pounding on her door. (blushes)
  9. I went for science because my son is crazy about science. I use it to encourage his reading skills and spelling and copywork. Also I use "science" to teach math (ds has a planet shop and sells them and buy according to size, colour, number of rings, etc.). You get the idea. BTW I use science and reading as a core but I didn't see this option.
  10. How about "Te quiero" for "I love you". Many babies say "quero" (ke-ro). "Apurate" (hurry up).
  11. From my 4.5 yo: We finally got ds a "junior" chair so he can sit with us at the "grown-up" table instead of eating at the "kiddie" table. He sat on his new junior chair and announced: "WOW. I love the chair on the outside and I love the chair on the inside." "You love the inside of the chair?" I asked. "Yes. I love the atoms inside the chair." "The atoms inside your chair?" I asked again. Ds rolled his eyes and replied "Well, mummy, everything is made of atoms..."
  12. I think a tad far from regular libraries. Currilick sells it for about $14. Considering I just bought startwrite and therefore blew my hs budget big time... :tongue_smilie:
  13. The link didn't work for me. Maybe it is because I'm in the Gulf? Thanks though.
  14. I can't help you but I was looking at the website today so I'll bump you. :bigear:
  15. Hi. I don't want to hijack the thread, but I got to google books looking for this too but it didn't have a "download" buttum. How do I download the Intermediate LL book? :blushing:
  16. da font.com has many cursive fonts to download for free. The site has tags you can click on to get the font you are looking for: school, italic, handwriting, and others.
  17. I apologize for not seeing your reply sooner. Sometimes this board moves so fast post (and replies) get lost very quickly. Thank you for your input. Here's a
  18. We live in a tiny flat with very high ceilings so the only way to storage things is "up". I have two tall bookshelves from Ikea in our living room. Lower shelves are filled with textbooks, regular reading books, and cardboard boxes (again from Ikea) to keep manipulatives. I use food plastic containers for markers, glue, and craft materials. Upper shelves are for puzzles and science kits, and art supplies. Until last week I had a children's table from Ikea but I found it was making my back hurt too much so I got ds a junior chair so he can do his work at the dinner table with me.
  19. I am gutted. This is a website I visit a lot for guidance and inspiration. Glad Maggie is taking care of herself and family though.
  20. We are schooling during the summer because we are running behind due to illness.
