Baby Name - like Grace, but not
McKay replied to sncstraub's topic in General Education Discussion Board
How about Caroline Hanna(h)? Hanna(h) means grace/favor or God has favored. -
Thanks for posting the wonderful news. What a big relief.

Do any of you NOT have a cell of any kind?
McKay replied to DawnM's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I don't have one. I'll borrow the pay-as-you-go phone that my dh has when a phone is needed. -
Last week a friend recommended Nuclear Engineering Technology as being a two year degree that paid very well. This is not something that I would choose for myself.

I buy pizza dough from a local pizza shop. The shop sells dough for a large size pizza for $1. After I've spread this out on the pan I add pizza sauce, possibly some veggies and shredded cheese. The large pizza costs me less than $5 to make.

Those who have large BooKs, what shelves do you prefer?
McKay replied to hsmom's topic in General Education Discussion Board
You might want to look at the Panache brand. The Panache shelves worked for a friend of mine. -
You might want to check out the Maclaren strollers. We used them when our kids were little and really liked them. They are lightweight and sturdy and collapse easily for travel. The back reclines and has quite a bit of support.

Latex mattress-any recommendations for purchase
McKay replied to Carpe Diem's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I'd recommend a visit to a store that sells latex mattresses. Then try out the mattresses and get a feel for what works for you. We went to a green home store and were impressed by ones by WJ Southard. They were a little less expensive than another brand there and seemed well made. -
Praise God. I am thrilled and relieved to hear the good news.

Peas, frozen grapes, and cherry tomatoes(in assorted colors and shapes) were hits with my kids.

Being there for her with e-mails, short calls and short visits would mean a lot. If there is any food she particularly craves, you could make it for her. I loved mashed potatoes during chemo. I had a friend do internet research for me on my particular type of cancer. That was so helpful, as figuring out the options after the diagnosis can be overwhelming. Another friend picked blueberries that we could put in our freezer. That was usually part of our summer routine, but during the chemo summer I wasn't feeling up to it.

Another important dh-dw issue:

I totally agree......we have separate hot loads here. For dishes we use a brush from IKEA, and then put them in the dishwasher. For other items we use a brush, dobie, stainless steel scrubber or sos type pad - whatever works. They don't get sanitized or tossed as often as they should be. -
Praise God! I'm celebrating with you and I'm relieved and thrilled to hear your good news. I am continuing in prayer for you.

I started making this lately and the family enjoys it. The recipe is quite flexible. I put water in a large soup pot and add a heaping serving spoon of miso. The water/miso combination is put on the stove to boil and I add sliced mushrooms(6 more or less), scallions(3 at least), and a half tub of med or firm tofu drained and cut into cubes. I also mince up a couple large cloves of garlic and about an inch of ginger. After everything is simmering, I add a bunch of organic kale torn into little pieces(stems composted), and then a half bag of chinese noodles. For us this works as a vegan version of chicken soup. It's nourishing and helps when we aren't feeling well.

I was thinking about you and your family going to the MOA and hoping and praying that you'd feel up for the adventure. I'm so happy that all went well.

Thanks for the update. I hope you can keep up your energy for the upcoming activities. With prayers and :grouphug:

When life doesn't go the way you thought
McKay replied to missiemick's topic in General Education Discussion Board
There are times in my life that reading this posted on my wall has helped. ATTITUDE by Charles Swindoll "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes†-
Update from doctor's visit yesterday

Thanks for the update. You are in my prayers. -
We use a biscuit for our strawberry shortcake......it is a highlight of the summer. We pick the strawberries. As soon as possible we have our traditional warm homemade biscuit cut in half with butter, then put slightly mashed berries heaped on each side with a generous dollop of real whipped cream. Oh my, I could really go for one now.

Clean magazines for 14yo dd??? Suggestions??
McKay replied to Harriet Vane's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My dd, age 17, likes Muse magazine. It is marketed to a younger age, but she enjoys it. My daughter is an avid reader and isn't into fluff.
