  1. dove---secret---tom's of maine......
  2. ok well yesterday I buzzed his hair (been meaning to do it for a while but just been lazy).....I swear there was enough hair on the floor to make another dog LOL (kiddo liked that when I joked with him about that).....He got a bath-I gave him a quick soap over just to be sure when I came back in and washed his hair....going to talk to him today (now that dad's gone back to work after day off) about schedules and ask him if he wants me to make him a calendar....that will go along with our studies that I want him to get back into doing more of.....definitely going to talk to him about the "hot water" issue mentioned in one of the above posts-that definitely might have been what happened a few weeks ago with him....going to have to get one of those little temp ducks....he doesn't play with bath toys-only did when he was a baby but has recently been asking for something to do while in the tub so I guess I'll have to hit the toy aisle-he hasn't ever been a big "toy" kid-he's always been drawn to electronics so if a toy wasn't played with,it's been passed on quickly so we don't have any little cars or plastic figures......thanks for the tips/stories.....
  3. OMGOODNESS-my ds has that issue with his fingernails too-I always thought he was just making it difficult for me to trim them OY!!!!! Where is the instruction manual~!???? LOL yep it's always something else/new to deal with.....
  4. He does add more warm or hot water I will definitely talk to him about it.
  5. Had good results with Mirena iud I did get lighter periods after a while After 5 years had ablation and tubal best thing I ever did in regards to menstrual health I now Only use a few liners each month
  6. someone in the FB secular homeschooling group posted about this....Looks interesting... http://www.kano.me/kit
  7. yea I'm having other issues with him too lately and I just can't take it anymore-we're going to sit down and talk and start a schedule and stick to it come hell or high water LOL.....at least I can laugh about it.....but UGGGGGG.......thanks for all the input.....
  8. Growing up with my sister's kids I knew that boys had spells where they went through phases where they didn't bathe for a couple of days when they were little.....ok can handle that....my son is 11....ahdd,Asperger's,anxiety issues, food sensory issues......he would go WEEKS without taking a bath if I would let him.....I mean seriously....he says when he gets in the tub/shower that it feels like there is pressure in his head and he's going to faint--or that taking a bath makes him feel bad......He has always had issues with disliking having his hair washed because he doesn't like getting water on his face....so I let him hold a dry cloth over his face while I wash/rinse his hair **I've tried letting him do it himself and he either just uses water or doesn't get all of the shampoo out,so that's why I usually come in and help him wash his hair.....Anyone deal with issues like these? Any ideas? I've tried playing the germ card since he can be kind of a germ-aphobe (go figure right! a germaphobe who doesn't bathe LOL) and have had health talks with him-nothing gets through...just ranting a little I guess....this past week or so has been pretty rough with him.....
  9. omgoodness I thought the meltdown the other day was bad.......dear lord, last night/early(1am-2am) this morning he had the MOTHER OF ALL MELTDOWNS......wouldn't go to bed-was ranting and yelling at me, so I unplugged the internet......went on the crying spell and was convinced I hated him-ranting and raving..I got to thinking that he had some apple juice a day or so ago-when we were looking into Feingold diet,we decided apple juice wasn't good for him so for the longest time he hasn't had any.....I had some in the fridge from back around the holidays and I let him have the last cup of it-- he has been eating those apple sauce snacks in the squish tubes and had been doing so well I thought well a little juice isn't going to hurt.....looks like no more apple juice in the house again.......going to need a serious nap later today I think.....I'm beat.....
  10. can sooo relate- my ds is 11 and can have that same attitude at the drop of a hat...I'm wondering if it might be pre-hormones or something??? LOL jeez--the other day was awful.....had the dreaded tears/yelling every time I tried to talk to him/ask him to do anything and ended up crying about how "I didn't want him" (where did he get such an idea!) I'm hoping it was just a bad day.......can't take much of that.....
  11. good things to look out for....it says (if I remember correctly) to report bad "sportsmanship" playing...... glad to be able to share it-my kiddo's a minecraft-aholic and minecraft-addict LOL....so I'm hoping he will enjoy it and also learn something too......
  12. not now...LOL but my maiden name is FUQUA......that was a tongue twister in itself....I have heard it pronounced every way humanly possible......and my first name JULIE....JULIA....."jewel-ia"......"jew-lee"....doesn't bother me now.....kinda did when I was growing up.....
  13. http://minecrafthomeschool.com I know we have discussed the finer points of minecraft and the pros and cons of playing it and even using it to teach our kiddos.....I might have even seen the link to this here,I can't remember....but I signed up for it today....Kiddo will start the Moons & Monuments study in February....have to mark it on my calendar! I've been looking for ANYTHING to get him back into the learning is fun mindset-we've been unschooling for the past couple of years now and he's been very interested into anything computer tech....he's doing the hour of code and another learn to code classes online....This just seemed kind of obvious to me...he's sooo into minecraft and makes his own servers, mods, mobs, and it's just everything MINECRAFT to him.....I'll update as we go along-if he does well in the first study period,I am definitely signing up for more....each study session/unit is 5 weeks long-we signed up for the advanced so he will have quizzes as part of the study-it has things he has to ready and do apart from the online studies....just thought I'd share....
  14. I've found better ones online-I like silicone bracelets.....that's what I wear for diabetes.....
  15. depends on the situation I guess....Spiders are not my favorite critter, but as long as they have no chance of getting on me I'm fine with them.....LOL Many years DH saw one on the curtain by the bed.....by the time he found something to smack it with, said spider (that I didn't see) was GONE....he had to take the curtains down and shake them out-had to take the bed covers all off and shake them out to make sure it wasn't in the bed....and even moved the mattresses around the see under the bed good before he would go to bed....Now it was in the middle of the night, mind you.....funny thing is that his "long lost sister" that we just got in touch with 2yrs ago has the same issue with spiders.....
  16. glad to hear she's doing a little better....hope the improvement continues
  17. oh man how scary...... :grouphug: hope you get better answers on Monday so you can plan or do whatever needs to be done to get the meds......
