  1. We work at the table mostly. At first, I implemented other activities too but at this point In time, I just get the basics accomplished. The kids do well with being at the table too.
  2. So, I'm looking for ideas of how to spend the upcoming holidays. I am still not certain when we are breaking. So, is there anything specific project wise you have planned? Do you have any good sites to look at for ideas? :)
  3. Interesting....I think when it comes down to it, this is my point of view. In heaven, it just won't be the focus and we will not be of mind to dwell on it.
  4. Go right ahead. We haven't done too much history or geography at all this year. I had big plans, but I'm just not that into it.
  5. They'd be kinda tough for my second grader. She could probably get that second problem. The other two, no way. Thats definitely beyond where we are in abeka 2 and Saxon 2!
  6. It's a great addition to our math curriculum! We've been using it in addition to Abeka for a month (?) now. Dd likes the worksheets and meeting book activities.
  7. No. Occasionally. It seriously is painful for me- my throat- to read so much. I hate reading aloud for this reason. We do tell short little stories thought at bedtime, with the kids as the main characters. They are creative and short and simple.
  8. Interestingly enough, I discovered I now dislike vanity sizing. I usually wear an 8 but after shopping at kohls the other day, it's a 10. I have not gained weight so why the heck did I have to go up a size? I have a 6 that fits me and everything else is an 8, and now you have me to believe I'm a 10? Kinda depressing when you totally didnt expect that. Grrr.
  9. We have a laptop and an iPad. Omigosh...I looovve the iPad and use it tons! I do photography as well, but like it was said before, the iPad really won't help a photographer too much. Using it for homeschooling, Internet, kindle, and email is fantastic. Of course, there's a few great learning apps for the kids, too. Come November you'll be able to print from it, thanks to a software update!
  10. We give what we can afford which is about $25 for graduation and $35 for a wedding. For a shower, I usually $20. Certainly if we could afford more we'd do that!
  11. My DH likes it a lot. Lol! We haven't watched it though, the kids and myself, i mean.
  12. I totally understand! I have one, too, and it has just been an awesome blessing for us! Yay!
  13. This is very interesting. I've participated only in one study of her's, the Esther one. I never knew about all this debate.
  14. Thanks for all your replies! I will take a look at MEP and the others. It's exciting to see him excel and I don't want to mess him up! Lol!
  15. I am an avid pianist, and my kids are taking piano also, however, we use our yamaha p140 full sized keyboard. I know their teacher prefers the piano for her students but I'm telling you..this keyboard has the most wonderful piano touch. I like it better than the baby grand at our church! I say, go with what you can do!
  16. I am having him work through an Abeka K math book. It is all so easy for him. I have printed out a few addition worksheets and he does those perfectly, facts up to 10 and some past that. He's a smart one, and is very engineer minded. I keep thinking I should challenge him more. Maybe get Saxon 1? I have dd7 in 2 nd who is doing abeka 2 with Saxon 2 because she needs that extra positive reinforcement. Any thoughts!? Should I just do what I am doing or really go to a different level altogether for him?
