  1. You might check out your local farmer's market. There is a man at our market who sells paintings. He seems to do quite well (sells one or two every Saturday) and his prices are out of my price range. He has them framed. Susie in SWVA

  7. My daughter, now 34, would sleep most of 1 -2 days when she got some kind of bug. Then she was over it! My other daughters would fight it and it would take them much longer to get over "it". The long sleeps did freak me out, though. Susie in SWVA
  8. Oh, sorry. I didn't realize you couldn't share a personal recipe on Allrecipes. This will make 4-5 dozen depending on how big you want your rolls. 3 c. warm water 1 T. salt 2 T. yeast 1 T. oil 3 eggs 1 heaping cup sugar 10 c. bread flour 1. Combine first six ingredients in a large bowl. Add 5 cups of the flour and beat well with a mixer. Stir remaining (up to) 5 cups of flour in by hand. (You can do this with a heavy duty mixer.) 2. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead just until smooth - do not add an excessive amount of flour - it's OK if the dough is a bit sticky. Return to a bowl (same one is OK), cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled. 3. Turn out onto floured surface and cut dough into 4 - 5 dozen pieces (they don't have to be PERFECTLY equal in size!). Shape into tight balls. Place on greased baking sheets or in pans, whatever you have, about 1/4 - 1/2 inch apart. Sprinkle lightly with flour and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let rise till double and the rolls are touching. 4. Bake at 350 degrees until brown to your liking - 15minutes or longer. If they are browning unevenly, turn the pan around. If you are baking on two levels in your oven, switch pans halfway through baking. These bake great in a convection oven. Susie in SWVA - If you have any questions, PM me.
  9. This is the recipe (very popular) that my daughter and I used at the bakery she owned. I have also sole these at our local farmer's market. http://allrecipes.com/personalrecipe/21623230/susies-dinner-rolls/detail.aspx Susie in SWVA

  13. Since you are so often in the car, get yourself some CD's from The Great Courses to listen to. It will give your mind something to chew on and you will really feel like you are learning something. I love them. You do need to be a bit selective with what you choose. I especially like the Music and Arts and the history ones. Susie in SWVA

  17. Greeting cards. You can also get boxes of cards from her if you ask. http://www.etsy.com/shop/rmccunephotography Boxwood wreaths. I have had one on my front door for over a year. It started out a beautiful green, then went through a short "ugly" period and then turned a beautiful golden color. One of my daughters has had one longer than that which is inside her house and it turned a nice light green. http://www.etsy.com/shop/rmccune?ref=seller_info# PS - Rebekah is my daughter. Blatant advertising, sorry. Susie in SWVA
  18. That is what we did. Our youngest daughter was 17 when we adopted our son (17 months). He is now 13. It's been great! But I'm getting old!!! Susie in SWVA But I wish we had adopted two.
  19. I agree with bbkaren. Please get them neutered. It is just the responsible thing to do. We have one (male) cat. He travels from our barn to our mud porch. We have a dog door in our mud porch that he uses as much as our dogs! Wherever he, Rico, is, he finds a warm comfortable place to stay. Wonderful cat! And we are not really cat people! Susie in SWVA
  20. This is not a book, but could you come for lunch on Sunday about 1:00? I'm serious! My dh lived through four teenage daughters (and survived!) in a one bathroom house! Maybe he could be an encouragement. And I am in need of some Latin advice. PM me, please. Susie in SWVA

  23. Our daughter, grown and gone, fostered this dog for awhile after it was rescued from a shelter. He was only a few days from being put down. He was very sick and while he,Jack, was with her, he almost died from an infestation of worms. Susie in SWVA
  24. This may sound a bit crazy, but has he lost an animal friend of any kind lately? We had a horse get depressed, yes, depressed when our other horse went somewhere for a short time. Sounds just like you described. We were so worried we finally called the vet. Nothing wrong! I hope it is that simple for you. Susie in SWVA
  25. If you can afford it (or if your library has it), she would probably enjoy the Ancient Egypt DVD's from the Great Courses (The Teaching Company). I really enjoyed them too.
