  1. Meanwhile, in CA: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/25/us-usa-california-immigration-idUSKBN0FU02020140725
  2. I have not taken this approach but I am about to. I was late teaching DS cursive due to fine motor issues. We started a few months ago and I was pleasantly surprised to find cursive is easier for him than print. But I am tired of dragging out the process every day and am taking Z-B on our upcoming trip and am hoping to finish during that time so we can cross cursive off the list and get on with our lives. Next I'm going to put a laser focus on spelling and get that out of the way for the year. I don't like all these little things that take 10-15 minutes/day. It breaks our flow.
  3. :svengo: I wonder if I can teach DS how to secretly hunt buffalo. In the SF bay area.
  4. Hmmm. I'll have to think about it. I love the idea and it's wonderful a 4 yo came up with it. I'm headed in a simplifying "less is more" direction though.
  5. Do you have an IKEA nearby? Their room layouts can be helpful. A couple of links: http://www.home-designing.com/2012/12/super-small-space-living-inspiration-ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80217524/ (look at the different images)
  6. I didn't like that new TVs don't have buttons on them. But I can see an advantage now.
  7. Yes, but it's not illegal for a person to have an affair. It's not illegal to watch pornography. It's not illegal for single people to have sex. So this leads back to the same discussion, which is whether it's fair to legislate gay marriage. Not whether it's fair to agree with it, but whether it's fair to insert yourself into the decision.
  8. Maybe Debbie means this one? http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/342798-pre-algebra-fence-straddlers-master-thread/
  9. I don't agree with your point of view, but thank you for actually answering a question posed here which had been previously avoided. I appreciate it.
  10. It's also easier to have someone else do your dirty work for you. There are people on both sides who are willing to support their militaries and militant politicians but who would never pull the trigger themselves, especially face to face. It's another form of dehumanizing, in a way.
  11. Re-posting with the original request. Bolding is mine. Not replying to anyone in particular.

  13. Yes, but it's probably not going to be in our lifetimes or even our children's or grandchildren's. Maybe after that. ETA: Which is not to say a solution may begin to be implemented in the above timeframe, but it will take a lot of time to implement and there will be fallout and ongoing violence. Look at India and Pakistan 65 years later.
  14. I think it's possible the ISIS thing is not true, although I'm not defending ISIS. In regards to FGM I completely agree with you.
  15. Wow, based on your earlier description of hat happened I don't see how it could have been anything but the ICU. What's the next step?
  16. I also have low bp and eat extra salt. I guess I was thinking that if you knew it was water weight you could accept it, not that you would eat too little salt and not feel well. :)
  17. You can try cutting sodium and see if it's water weight.
