  1. Mom's Cheese Pie, made without a crust, is quick and delicious. If sugar content isn't an issue, you can just substitute real sugar for the Splenda.
  2. Mine's on all the time, too. I just checked it and it is a little warm, but not too bad. Mine's on top of a cabinet. Is yours inside a console?
  3. We finished up most subjects the week before Easter, then finished everything else up by the end of the first week of May. We'll start back the first Monday of August, but we are completely free until then! :D
  4. I was horrified to find non-kitten-killing grammatical errors in 5th grade GWG, including "he had drank." I bought it again this year to have it on hand because I anticipate some lengthy travel this summer and need to have all my ducks in a row. I'm going to read through it at some point in the next couple of weeks, and if I find anything that makes my eyes bleed, I'll have to switch.
  5. I love our Sleep Mates! We have two: one for outside our childrens' rooms, and one for our bedroom. We take them with us when we travel because we can't sleep without them.
  6. You probably already know this, but lupus is not the only disease associated with a positive ANA titer. Different patterns are associated with different disease processes. Which pattern did you have? A positive titer can come and go. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean you're cured when your titer is negative -- just that your body isn't attacking itself in that particular way at that particular moment. Not to discourage you, but a firm diagnosis can take forever, and may never happen at all. This can lead the uniformed to believe that there's nothing much wrong with you or that you're just seeking attention. Be prepared for that, too.
  7. I haven't posted for a while, but have been reading. So far: 9. Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England 8. The Solitude of Prime Numbers 7. A Reliable Wife 6. The Lovely Bones 5. Luka and the Fire of Life 4. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society 3. Boy on the Lion Throne 2. Lewis and Clark Through Indian Eyes 1. Undaunted Courage Currently reading: Animal Dreams The only book I haven't enjoyed so far is The Solitude of Prime Numbers.
  8. We do every single page. Things get pretty draggy that last quarter to eighth of the book, but the last lesson in any subject is cause for celebration. I made myself a countdown grid for Saxon 65 this morning. 43 days of math left. :tongue_smilie:
  9. I love my front loader. I've noticed that the clothes don't get clean if I use too much detergent. I use much less than they recommend -- usually a couple of tablespoons for a normal load. When I use anywhere close to the recommended amount, the clothes don't rinse clean and come out dingy blue (the color of my detergent). It makes sense that the clothes wouldn't be cleaner with more soap -- the dirt is bound to the soap, and if there's too much soap to rinse out, the dirt can't get spun out.
  10. I'm horrified by the number of times I tried to get in. :glare:
  11. During week two, I read Lewis and Clark Through Indian Eyes, which was interesting. I also read Lewis and Clark among the Indians, which was more dense than I anticipated, but very helpful for the class I'm teaching. My children and I are reading The Boy on the Lion Throne aloud and are enjoying it a lot. This week we'll have quite a bit of reading related to Tibet, and I'll post up as we get interesting books from interlibrary loan. Surely I can start reading the things I'd like to read this week. I'm still intending to start The Wreath this week. Or else.
  12. I finished Undaunted Courage this afternoon. I want to begin The Wreath, but have more Lewis and Clark related books to get through this week as I prep for a class that starts next week. I'll be reading Lewis and Clark among the Indians and Lewis and Clark Through Indian Eyes before next weekend. And then I'll get to the things I want to read!
  13. Forgot to say that I'm really enjoying Undaunted Courage. I've had to force myself through some of his other books and found it a hard slog, but this one's great.
  14. That's what I do. I used to have multiple sheet sets, but they took up too much room in my nearly-nonexistent linen closet. I purged and now have one extra set of sheets for each bed, just for emergencies (like our puke-o-rama two days before Christmas this year).
  15. This afternoon I'll finish up the last 20 pages or so of Undaunted Courage and move on to The Wreath. I have more Lewis and Clark related books to fit in there somehow this week as I prep for a class that starts next week. Looks like there are some late nights in my future. I'll post about the other books as I work through them. I really need to read Lewis and Clark among the Indians and Lewis and Clark Through Indian Eyes before next weekend.
  16. I was planning to start with something else, but decided to read Undaunted Courage instead.
  17. My peas are soaking right now, and we're having Hopping John for dinner. I love my blackeyed peas! I just realized I have no onion or garlic, so I'll have to run out for those before I start cooking the beans.
  18. MM has helped me out so much over the past two years. I was tempted not to download it this year and just apply what I've learned, but the checklists make it all work for me. There are days when checking "get up" off my list is a major accomplishment.
