  1. Thank you for posting this! My 5 years old DD is very interested in the American Revolution so I always thought we'd end up getting her Felicity. Maybe I'll do some early holiday shopping....
  2. Bumping :) ETA: Reese, I thought the B&W illustrations would annoy me in the bird book but since we then watch videos and look at photos afterward it hasn't been an issue at all.
  3. Secular homeschooler here. I just posted about our Kindergarten year today. My blog is in my signature.
  4. We literally just started this past week. She will be 5 in late August.
  5. I have some links in these 2 blog posts - some are repeats in this thread but not all. We are eclectic but CM heavy.
  6. We start Kinder in the Fall although that's really by name - we're all ready doing several "subjects" right now. Kinder: RightStart Math A Nature Study Copywork Narration Composer Study Artist Study Prehistory Religion (not religious studies but learning about various religions, I am using this book as a spine) I am thinking of adding BFSU in the new year depending on our schedule (I work 4 days a week.) My daughter already reads well so no phonics instruction but we will have time for read alouds of chapter books, etc to continue working on that. We are eclectic with a big emphasis on Charlotte Mason and also some classical education flavoring thrown in. :) Definitely a fan of short lessons, ala CM.
  7. Thanks! We're doing the bird study now but plan to cover his animal book next.
  8. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet... Allen's Hummingbird Cam
  9. Thanks for the links - some are new to me. :) Here are a few more in some old blog posts of mine (some are new, some are repeats): Post 1 and Post 2.
  10. This is my favorite one so far. I am also slowly working on reading her original writings.
  11. I use photos but usually not directly of my DD's face - often side shots, etc... I also use an alias but it is a nickname of hers that we call her daily. I have a hard time reading blogs where they just use the initial of the first name so I prefer an alias (or their real name ;) .)
  12. Does anyone have this? How do you like it? TIA!
  13. Mine is in my siggy - we followed FIAR this year and we're about to combine CM and classical education.
  14. We just came home from San Diego yesterday. Felt it in the San Fernando Valley - it was a tad long but nothing "major" where I am. My DD didn' even notice it.
  15. I'm a Speech Language Pathologist. I currently work in a school setting but am about to switch jobs and work at a clinic for 4 days a week. The clinic will be nice because I will have 2 week days off and that will allow us to do more activities with other homeschoolers around here.
